    • @rubenvasquez310
      @rubenvasquez310 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its is easy. You need to put some force into it. Maybe try lubricant and smack it a few time it might be rusted on there if that doesnt work put the pry bar to work. This video was very helpful had it on in les than 20 minutes

      Another “trick” if you don’t have a ball joint spreader or want to put all that banging effort into it is lossen the ball joint nut about 1 full turn put tire back on the vehicle and drive over a few bumps/ dips in the road. I bet after the 2-3 bump you’ll hear a slight snap noise as the ball joint tapered stud breaks loose within the spindle. Then go back and follow all the other steps. Obviously this would be FIRST step before loosening anything. Take tire off , loosen ball joint nut about 1 full turn , replace tire , then do what I said above

    I used a ball joint separator and it worked well. I had a hard time getting it back together as the corrosion on the post made the nut fit so snug that is was hard to get it on. Of course I think it may also mean I need to replace the ball joint as it did soin easier than you would expect.

    Hi, so if the steering axis is the upper and lower ball joints for pivoting during steering, why are there bearings on the top of the strut ? i think the strut is fixed when bolted in and does not move. What happens when the bearing wears out ?

    at 232 in the video your removing the sway bar, it shows the upper ball joint is still attached by the nut, but earlier when you begin yo removed the nut from the upper ball joint first...???? in the video of the control arms you let the vehicle down on the wheels to torq the nut that holds the strut but in this video you just torqued it up off the ground,??? confused a little....

    me and my father have tried this twice while
    watching the video step by step. the first thing we noticed is how the upper control arm and the ball joint do not come apart like this guy does it in the video. so we go into the procedure farther only to put everythinf back together because we have tried everything to get the ball joint in the upper control arm apart nothing has worked yet. so hey one a Auto help me out here you've been stuck on this and driving around with bad struts for 2 months now back and forth from Southern California to Phoenix and the trip is miserable especially in the Wind please help

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Michael Tolsdorf Hello! According to the video he only takes off the nut on the upper ball joint, which allows him to disconnect it from the knuckle. I recommend trying to use some penetrating oil to loosen it up, but if it is really stuck it will take some muscle. If it is a totally different set up then this video will not help, as you may have a different model. 1aauto.com
