Unfortunately, the M.2 4th slot does share bandwidth with SATA ports 5 to 8 (the four ports closest to the bottom of the board). The manual does state SATA 5-8 will be suspended once a SATA or NVMe device is detected at M.2_4. Even with this its still an amazing motherboard and a fair compromise in my opinion. Another enjoyable review and unboxing, I look forward to seeing you review more creator products.
I don’t mind M.2 sharing bandwidth with a few SATA ports. It becomes problematic when M.2 shares bandwidth with PCIE slots; - as was the case with the X570/AM4 version of this board.

I've ordered this board today, gonna use it with a 12700K CPU ..1TB M2e drive + CPU+ mobo +32 gb ram and with those specs, it's faster and cheaper the new M1 MAX chip. As a Mac OS user, I was hesitating between this MB and the Mac studio but since Pro tools is still not silicon I’m staying on intel 12900k. It makes a great hack and with thunderbolt 4 ports I can plug in my UAD , RME and blackmagic cards. The 10g interface is also really useful to connect to my server. It will probably be my last hack but in the music business it will probably last me another decade.
Beatiful board, fantastic video. Very much thoroughly in-depth review. Yes, I am upgrading to this Asus Z690 ProArt Creator WiFi Motherboard. Gonna use it with a Intel 12700K CPU. Thank you for the review.

S/PDIF port should be added. Other features are amazing. DDR5 supply should be made continuous.another AM4 socket should be added for Ryzon compatibility. Two slots should be reserved for DDR4 RAM. Otherwise everyone will have to build seperate PC fir Intel, AMD, DDR4,DDR5 gear. It is a costly cheat.
1:06 I love your enthusiasm, but sadly, no, quoting from the manual: *SATA6G_5~8 will be suspended once either a SATA or NVME device is detected at M.2_4* So 3 NVME & 8 SATA-ports or 4 NVME & 4 SATA-ports. That's stil eleven devices though.
#11:14 The two PCIe 5.0 slots can not possibly be 16 lanes + 8 lanes as one can believe from the video... This, since the intel cpu only got 16 slots in total and the Z690 chipset can not do PCIe 5.0 at all. Instead, if you plug in a second card you will most probably have two slots with 8 lanes each.
Aha not that I was trying to correct you, but it threw me for a huge loop when I did my build. READ THE Manual. If M.2_4 is occupied it SUSPENDS SATA 5 though 8. This is on page 1-11 of the manual and I confirmed through other searches. Again most of your information is very useful, but you have the board in front of you which means you have the manual. This frustrated me to no end and thought I had a defective mother board until I picked up the manual and found out the correct answer. I did contact ASUS and told them that their Tech Publication Dept. needs to make this more clear. Other than that very happy with my build.
Honestly, pretty much the only disapointing thing on that motherboard is that it ONLY has 3 PCIe ports... The lack of USB2, maybe a little, because that's what I tend to plug my keyboard and mouse into, but, no big loss in not having those. but in my current PC has 5 different PCIe cards installed, I wouldn't need all of them in a new computer, especially when features like Wifi are onboard, but after graphics card and Video capture card, that leaves only 1 slot for anything else I wish to add. Though, I guess that's a concession for having 4 M.2 ports, using up a lot of the PCIe lanes, and the physical space.

Good question, and the answer is yes. Typically people that work a lot with video and foto's need to manipulate a lot of data. The data that is collected on modern camera's is much bigger then standard 4K video and even more data then 8K video. We are talking about 50+ Mega pixel sensors that have 10 bit color depth. More importantly, they moved the TPM header to the right location. The X570 ProArt TPM is just design flaw.
What do you mean? How can it be wrong placed?
@@petergplus6667 The TPM interferes with the VRM heat sink and M.2 heat sink. You need to remove the M.2 heat sink and angle your way in from VRM heat sink. “ProArt” it was..

nice motherboard
👍
I'm so annoyed by the fact that I cannot find this board. It is the final piece to my build.
I think it was really popular at launch and was all sold out, probably awaiting stock;)
@@theTechNotice There was one that finally came in at the computer store, I bought it... now I will put the rest together.
Yes yes yes
I just build my system with this board. Love it so far
@@howtoinvest4yourself241 Hey there! I'm working out a build with this mobo and want 2x 32 gig sticks of RAM but am finding NONE available. If you have a minute can you tell me your RAM choice and how well it worked for you?? THANKS!
It's so hot!
lmao, 20 lanes with i9 CPU's, good luck with the 4x M2 slots, your sata3 ports will die, my ASRock x299 Creator MB (10x sata3 and 3x M2) kicks this MB all the way to the trash, you need 48 lanes CPU's INTEL!
I think the ProArt is esthetically one ugly thing.
Interesting, I think it looks classy. :)
@@dallasroberts3206 : )
Don't get it then. Simple. Lol
@@dyong888 Had no plans
Your sponsor is a joke
Besides creating can I game play on this as well
Yes
Ok so nothing about performance. Great review. Not. You told about everything that the website says and the box. Nothing to learn here.
all "high end" mobos are pretty much the same. I mean X570/X670 for AMD and Z690/Z790 for intel. Once you learned about one of them you know everythinhg about others
