For all those unaware, Denji being able to sprout chainsaws from his legs was actually foreshadowed last week, during their training with Kishibe, you can see the bottom parts of his pants teared off. The Nut devil makes a return just in time to end the season 😂

For anyone who doesn't want to wait around (likely) 2 years for the next season of Chainsaw Man and would like to start the manga, this season adapted up to before the last three pages of chapter 38 (which is collected in Volume 5 of the tankōbon).
Also for anyone confused regarding Aki’s age when he first met Himeno/joined Public Safety (and it was stated in episode 2 that Aki has worked at Public Safety for at least 3 years), when he said he was a minor/underage, that was likely meant to imply he was 18 or 19 years old when Aki first met Himeno. As not only is the smoking and drinking age still 20 in Japan, the "age of majority" (the term for when a person is considered an adult in the context of most legal matters) in Japan was 20 until early 2022 when it was lowered to 18 (though the voting age had been lowered to 18 in 2016). And since Aki has already been drinking and smoking for a good amount time, he’s probably meant to be 21-22 in the present day of the series (which is 1997 for those curious). So Himeno’s relationship with Aki didn’t start anywhere nearly as inappropriate/“cradle-robbing” as her interactions with Denji were this season.
And yeah in regards to what exactly happened with Aki and the Ghost Devil, I have to assume that Aki blacking-out caused him to become "invisible" to the Ghost Devil and thus dropped Aki because it couldn't "see" him anymore (and presumably Akane Sawatari [the Snake Devil girl] was ignorant about the Ghost Devil's sight limitation/weakness) and then one of the hands giving Aki the cigarette from Himeno was probably some "last wish/instructions" Himeno may have given the Ghost Devil before she died. The manga wasn't anymore clear on that matter than the anime was.
Also the dream Denji had was first shown at the beginning the very first episode (though before it didn't have Pochita's voice coming from the door), meaning Denji has been having that dream even before he fused with Pochita and became a hybrid.
And for clarification, the girl seen at the end of this episode isn't one that has been introduced yet or seen before in the story.

Some people say that CSM was overhyped but the reason why it's hyped is cos of everything that comes after this arc. Season 2 will be miles better and way crazier than this season ever was.
I recently saw a poll of the best arcs in Chainsaw Man, and legit all of the highest voted ones happened after the anime. Every arc the anime has adapted only had 3% of the votes or lower.

@@martinaguiluz4063 I think the only time I noticed significant awkwardness with the cgi was in episode 1, and even then it wasn’t bad. Every episode after that has gotten increasingly better with the usage of cgi, and this finale episode was the most seamless of them all.
@@masneomlock5344 Yeah, the CGI in the finale was great. But the CGI in eps 1 and 3 was very jarring. Even the studio noticed it because in ep 4 they didn't use CGI and made the best fight in the series so far

Since the ghost devil uses fear to see, I think it stopped choking out Aki because he stopped fearing death and started to miss Himeno

@@currentlyaliveanddead6733 I wouldn't be surprised if Himeno set something up in her contract to where if she died the Ghost Devil would give Aki the cigarette as she could've died anytime and wanted to give one last thing. It likely activated now because the Ghost Devil couldn't reach Aki until the Snake spit it out
I KNEW IT!!! I knew Ghost wasn't a plain tool that could be stolen and used against Himeno's wishes, she left a final command secured by her contract? Was this Ghost's will, to let Aki live and kill her? A combination of both? Who knows, but somehow Himeno's will lived on and helped Aki once more, and that's beautiful.
My guess is that when Himeno gave Ghost "all of her" it included her feelings for Aki, now that we know that Devils can take intangible stuff in their contracts. It would also explain why Ghost woke Denji up back on the roof. Definitely seems like something in her contract with Himeno, like you say. Or maybe Ghost just likes hot guys like the Fox Devil.

Ghosts are things that stick around due to unfinshed business. Delivering that cigarette was himenos unfinished business. regardless of any pact or contract or "feelings" or will, its what ghosts DO. (thats how i read it)
i saw it as her contract was to give all of her and "so give me all of yourself" so it's still carrying out her wishes, plus ghosts are known for unfinished business so maybe it didn't see the deal as "finished" yet since it hadn't given all of itself

What Himeno really said is "once your grown up and ready to take the edge off", as in to destress, which is why most people smoke

Remember, Himeno's contract with Ghost was she gave everything she had to Ghost, and vice versa, that's why the Ghost Devil which Aki fights is half Ghost and half Himeno's soul, that's why it gives him the "Easy Revenge" blunt so he puts aside his revenge to Gun Devil for a moment and kill it/her instead to make him accomplish something for his vendetta (avenging Himeno), it's a subtle moment that doesn't need to over-explained like most dramatic Shonen scenes do nowadays, yes, I'm looking at you, Tanjiro

Y'know, the majority of people who watched this episode (including these reactors) didn't understand why the Devil stopped. So, by the looks of it, it wasn't explained very well. It's better to explain something than to just leave an event without a proper explanation. Also, why are you calling out Tanjiro when he gets shit done? Deku even does that shit more than him.

And speaking of Tanjiro and KnY, it's known for the show to put some overdramatic climax and tons of monologues and flashbacks which makes it meh, because that Shonen's trope has been reused over and over, that's why CSM is the fresh Shonen of Seinen in a certain light, it looks like it used the same tropes, but actually not

Just to clear up, when Aki says he's underage in the flashback he means for alchohol and tobacco, meaning hes under 20 in the flashback
Denji saw a chance to play his uno reverse card, and jumped at it. Literally.
Eve, the guy that made the ending song for this episode, is the same guy that made Kaikai Kitan (the first opening for JJK). He's a really talented artist and one of my personal favorites. Most of his songs are absolute bangers, but if anyone wants to check him out, I recommend listening to Last Dance, Raison D'etre, and Ao no Waltz.

What Pochita said in the manga is "You must NEVER open this door!"
Yeah that’s what pochita says in the anime too, the subs are slightly off. I think the intent is still safely passed on though: Denji should not open the door/can’t open the door/mustn’t ever open the door all generally mean the same thing.
Sometimes colloquially “can’t” also means not under any circumstances should you do this thing 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️ but it would’ve been nice for the “never” to be added in the subs for extra clarity.
translations never have to be direct, you know. I'm not kidding. they just have to pass on the intent and the vibe, based on the language one is translating to, also.
I like how Denji saw Katana Man on Floor 13 and i'm pretty sure Hotels and stuff like that with elevators don't have a 13th floor cause its bad luck

After some events, Denji is chilling in the appartment and he ears the door knocking, he knows he shouldn't open the door but he does it anyways aaaand... It's Aki standing by the door, possesed by the Gun Devil being the beginning of a fight that will broke everyone's heart.
