ONG, fam. I just came from watching Chainsaw Man with my homies who don't read manga and the amount of effort I had to use to hold myself back - after one of my friends said "why is she talking to him like a dog" about Makima - was intense.

I loved the first episode! All of the voice actors and actresses did an excellent job, but Denji's voice actor, Kikunosuke Toya, stole the show for me. He did an excellent job portraying Denji's character, and as a manga reader, his voice is exactly what I imagined him to sound like! And the maniacal laughter at the end was truly terrifying. Furthermore, this is his very first lead role! He did an outstanding job! 👏
This isn't his first lead role. It's his first role. At least according to MAL.

@@randomtechpriest Cool, except no. Because Pochita was going to be his heart regardless of whether or not Denji had his mother’s condition. What would he be? His eye? His balls? His kidney? It’s why it’s never brought up and only in the first chapter. And it’s why when his deal with Pochita wavered he started dying.
Roshi’s so far the only reactor I’ve seen who caught on to Makima “keeping” Denji essentially being him going from one owner to another, and he caught it frame 1!
Also LMAO the red flag when Makima showed up! Editor’s on point.

Honestly as someone who up to date with the manga, I loved this 1st episode you can tell that they're having alot of fun and putting alot of love and passion into the series
I just realized that Denji's debt that his dad left him with which was around 700,000 compounded into 38 million yen over the course of time due to interest, fees etc.... He was literally never going to pay this off. Puts into perspective the reality of life he was living and yet he still managed it as well as he could given all those circumstances. I really connected with Denji and his backstory. Excited for the next episode!!!
I don't think the total debt was 700,000. That was just one of his monthly payments he owed from how they said it.

This anime has such a classic gritty feel, even though it's CG. Props to this studio.
(sorry for my bad english) Like The 90s anime. Btw The only CGI part was The Chainsaw man Character Design (not all of the times) and the background. Not The whole Show and that's because it's a nightmare to animate all of those frames for the chainsaw on his Head and on his hands. Because It is moving all the time. And it's Really blended with The 2d Really well

That's called good Character acting(body language). Like The grisha Scene in AOT season 4 part 2. It's Really hard to animate (even sometimes harder than some sakugas). That's because this Show has a Really staked staff and a Really good schedule

I love Denji. He's really a simple boy with simple dreams. He just wanna get food and a girl and even live a good life. Reminds me of another character who just wants to help everyone, but is restricted by an entity.

I love how prevalent Tatsuki Fujimoto's (mangaka) influence in this is. Like I mean, in the OP for example. These are all a callback to such iconic films like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Pulp Fiction, Big Lebowski, Don't Look Up and a lot more. Goes to show how much of an impact the original creators can make if more animation studios would be more faithful to their craft.
