The song the little girl sings at the end (that she wanted to sing for her dad) is also thematically meaningful too. As it is a famous love and farewell song. It’s called Aloha ʻOe and was written by Queen Lili'uokalani (the last Hawaiian monarch) in 1878. Lili'uokalani intended this to be a love song but it ended up being a farewell song. It has since become a worldwide traditional classic farewell song. English lyrics were added in 1923 as well as an alternate title: "Farewell to Thee." Legend has it that Queen Lili'uokalani wrote this song while imprisoned in the 'Iolani Palace during the annexation of Hawai'i to the US, but this is not entirely true. The true story is as follows: she visited the Maunawili Ranch in O'ahu, where Edwin Boyd resided. While riding home on horseback to Honolulu, she turned to look at the view of Kaneohe Bay and suddenly saw Colonel James Boyd and a young Maunawili lady. The inspiration for the song came when she saw the two people slowly and affectionately bid each other farewell. Twenty years later, she used this song as a farewell to Hawai'i as Hawai'i lost its independence and became part of the US.
@@Ninja123Craft yep, when Nani was resigned to the notion that social services would be taking Lilo away the next day, she sang it to Lilo too. Also a very thematically resonant use of the song (especially for such characters) and one of the best moments in the film.

@@yairsanchez5708 Im pretty sure its said they either improperly disposed of some chemicals, or they had a chemical leak and covered it up instead of acknowledging and cleaning it.
The reason I love this zombie film more than most is because they focused on the main characters transformation. Usually Hollywood makes the badass character the protagonist but with this film the badass is a side character. The protagonist transforms from the selfish businessman to the aspired dad. The scene where the MVP sacrifices himself and the protagonist fighting to open the door from the selfish businessman is basically the complete passing of the torch right there
37:41 Lupa showing absolutely no sympathy towards those people who got mauled by the zombies because they kicked the main characters to the next car shows that even in a zombie apocalypse, he would still value loyalty above all else.
One of the things I like about Train to Busan is that they never actually show characters actually kill the zombies. They at most manage to push the zombies out of their way, not once have they actually managed to kill one. It's not impossible, as evidenced by the army guys in the ending, but the means to do so are far out of the reach of the main characters, they never cease feeling like a very real, very urgent threat. Also, it's very refreshing that they don't fall into the trappings of the genre by making every human character some degree of a dumb twat. So yeah, on top of having very good character writing, it also does zombies VERY well.
Right!? The way they conveyed the danger of the zombies was phenomenal. I wondered out loud “are we going *Walking Dead* or *Last of Us?”* when the first one popped up on the train and was pleased (and horrified-) to see them go in the direction of TLoU. Those actors were fukcing terrifying to watch and the waves of them was just…too muchhh. *Who ever was in charge of the zombies is allowed/needed to get on the HBO show-*
@@Orapac4142 I don't think that neck snap actually killed that zombie, we saw those things endure MUCH more damage and keep on going. Actually, upon reviewing the scene, isn't that one of the zombies you can see in the background slightly later in the same scene, right before Yong-guk slams a baseball bat into a zombie's teeth?

You will never know what you're made of until you're tested. You can think you're a hero all you want while you sit safely on your couch at home, but until you're in a situation like this you'll never really know if you're the hero or a villain.
Never seen this channel before and the banter in the beginning already has me hooked. It’s crazy to think even after all the character growth of the dad and all the visuals (him gaining blood on his shirt in the shape of a heart to symbolize his change, him seeing how he could’ve ended up through seeing the ceo, etc) that the little girl was always the main character. If it weren’t for her the pregnant couple wouldn’t be been saved, the grandmas wouldn’t have been saved, the dad couldn’t have motivation to change and learn to help others, and even at the very end the little girl was the reason they weren’t shot. It follows her storyline and if it weren’t for her so many people were saved (or could’ve been if it weren’t for the ceo). The whole thing is a huge mindfuck when you really sit back and think about it.
@@mak01711 yep you can notice his eyes are a bit puffy and his cheeks are wet. Around when the daughter starts screaming for her father not to go after he gets bit
I've watched this film multiple times and it NEVER gets old. ALSO the newscaster really pulled a Ba Sing Se and said "There is no Zombie apocalypse in Korea."
Her screaming when he has to leave her, making me think of the baby I’m helping to care for. 😭 Also at the end, realizing she is singing the song from Lilo & Stitch. Nani sings it to Lilo in the first movie, then in the Halloween episode of the series, Lilo says she sings it when she’s scared. 💗
Also this movie has a sequel, and a prequel. Haven’t seen them yet, but just in case you are interested. And there’s gonna be an American remake in 2023. Will probably ruin it, but I’m curious to see.

I appreciate that they recognized the original similarities and then separation that Seok-Woo and Yon-suk share. True Evil: Yon-suk True Good: Sang-Hwa True neutral (main character): Seok-woo This movie followed the perfect formula of showcasing both sides, completely selfish and completely selfless. This gave the main character of Seok-woo the space to explore both sides and evolve as a character, which makes for some of the most interesting and relatable stories and is an excellent way to create an environment for character development.

Y'all's fixation on the egg was cracking me up! This has been my number one zombie movie since its release in 2016. I think the magic is in the character arcs. Most zombie movies get so focused on the action, gore, or larger world building, that they lack in proper characters. 'Train To Busan' one gives you beautiful character development & story, along with the action & suspense of a zombie genre film.

Every. Damn. Time.
Saddest zombie movie made
The song the little girl sings at the end (that she wanted to sing for her dad) is also thematically meaningful too. English lyrics were added in 1923 as well as an alternate title: "Farewell to Thee."
Legend has it that Queen Lili'uokalani wrote this song while imprisoned in the 'Iolani Palace during the annexation of Hawai'i to the US, but this is not entirely true.
Wasn’t that song in Lilo and Stich too? I’m pretty sure I remember Nani singing it to Lilo at one point
@@Ninja123Craft yep, when Nani was resigned to the notion that social services would be taking Lilo away the next day, she sang it to Lilo too. Also a very thematically resonant use of the song (especially for such characters) and one of the best moments in the film.
Thank you so much for sharing this 🥰
Wow I really had no idea .. thanks for the info
Man...I can't remember the last time I cried that hard at a movie. When she sings that song, knowing the connection made to it in the beginning of the movie, and how dismayed I felt when I thought they were gonna shoot them....fuck this movie broke me. And now, knowing the meaning of that song...makes me want to tear up again.
the end scene where the child sings the song she prepared for her father.. i immediately get heartbroken, thats some real hurt right there
I cried watching Train to Busan and now I’m crying watching y’all cry watching Train to Busan lol.. this is legit the best zombie movie ever - the part with him washing his hands from all the blood on them literally right after hearing that his company was at fault for everything really made me appreciate the symbolism in this film. Love how y’all caught so many of the small details.. also, idk if y’all already reacted to it, but Sweet Home is another epic, Korean release !
Do yk why the company was at fault, chemicals?
@@yairsanchez5708 They were probably doing lab experiments on something and it got leaked somehow.
@@yairsanchez5708 Im pretty sure its said they either improperly disposed of some chemicals, or they had a chemical leak and covered it up instead of acknowledging and cleaning it.
The sweet home WEBTOON is better but the Netflix series is great too
What was the symbolism
*Who ever was in charge of the zombies is allowed/needed to get on the HBO show-*
Thx for pointing that out. I never realized it before. Thats a good point and I agree with you.
I think big dude killed one with a neck snap.
@@Orapac4142 I don’t think so, these zombies have been seen falling from heights well above 6 feet and still managed to live
As a Korean, watching Korean entertainment spreading all across the globe delights me
Yall hold the crown when it comes to drama 🔥

Thank you to Korea for blessing the world with such talented Actors and actresses

I always love this movie and youtube reactions cuz the first act is always "Why isnt anyone doing anything or saying anything" then once the pregnant wife tells macho man to assist, the reactors are like "hell naw get out of there its not your problem lol" making the bystander effect come back full circle.
YESSSS the bystander effect fr. Everyone thinks they'll react differently until actually in that situation
You will never know what you're made of until you're tested. You can think you're a hero all you want while you sit safely on your couch at home, but until you're in a situation like this you'll never really know if you're the hero or a villain.
@@ThwipThwipBoomwow this comment...I feel tested bro
The ending just squeezes your heart and throws it on the ground. Every. Time.
Then stomps on it. *Repeatedly.*
Never seen this channel before and the banter in the beginning already has me hooked. Already the vibes are so much like friends sitting on a couch and im sure you are but what i mean is the viewer feels included somehow. It doesnt feel like watching a video if that makes sense, it feels like hanging out with friends. Definitely keep it up!
Also:
1. Person on the left is insanely pretty (y'all are but her.. just.. wow)
2. Person on the right repeatedly calling the train cars "kabooze" cracked me tf up (i dunno if thats something they're called but hearing it in such a serious panicked tone was really funny)
3. I feel bad for not saying anything about middle person but you're cool. (Edit: You're basically me watching the movie for the first time)
I see you've reacted to All of Us Are Dead (and since you referenced Squid Games maybe that too?) so i promise i'll have learned your names by the time im done watching that. I love your sprites in the intro.

This was one of the best zombie horror films I had ever watched. Who would had thought that a film like this can get so MANY people emotional?
Every single time I watch this movie and see the reactions of people watching this, the ending KILLS me every fucking time.
Train to Busan made me cry and be emotional quite a few times and to see ya cry together was amazing!
The score was too good as well!
George Romero, the creator of zombie genre, said that WWZ killed the genre, I hope he see this. Sadly, he passed away a year before its release
This movie is timeless and the writers probably solved world hunger in their previous lives to be this much of a genius at writing this movie
How’d you notice the heart-
You know a movie hit the feels when all three of Lupa, Sheera, AND even Roshi are crying

Also at the end, realizing she is singing the song from Lilo & Stitch. Nani sings it to Lilo in the first movie, then in the Halloween episode of the series, Lilo says she sings it when she’s scared. 💗

I appreciate that they recognized the original similarities and then separation that Seok-Woo and Yon-suk share.
True Evil: Yon-suk
True Good: Sang-Hwa
True neutral (main character): Seok-woo
This movie followed the perfect formula of showcasing both sides, completely selfish and completely selfless. This gave the main character of Seok-woo the space to explore both sides and evolve as a character, which makes for some of the most interesting and relatable stories and is an excellent way to create an environment for character development.
Is very common in Korea to carry boiled eggs for snacking in purses, in lunch boxes and you can even buy them individually already boiled in seven elevens or any convenience stores.
I think almost every Asia country does that, but I guess saying Korea is relevant to the movie

Cracking? Pun intended?
I’m not even halfway through but I think this is my favourite reaction y’all have ever done. Your panicked screams are *chef’s kiss* and giving me the giggles.
