I haven’t played mercenaries in the original, but this was pretty fun. It’s kind of nice that you can get high scores without any problems. Also, you can get the hand cannon by getting S rank on all three stages.
Ruined the appeal of mercenaries, they made it so easy it sucked all the fun right out of it. There was no reason I should not have gotten an S++ first run without knowing the map, item, or enemy layout.
The OG you had to 5 star each stage with each character... So, a minimum of 20 runs. And as someone who personally didn't like Mercenaries mode, it can be a slog. That said, it's not bad, just... it can be a tad unforgiving.
@@shelbyherring92 It's a challenge mode. Capcom didn't want to present players with the Hand Canon until they had proven they mastered the game's mechanics. I respect that.
Mercenaries is incredibly good and addicting. It does have RNG bs with enemy AI sometimes though. I got a combo of 148 on the Island to have the last 2 enemies nowhere near me. They only showed themselves after my combo dropped which felt bad and out of my control. Some of the enemy combos can be infuriating time-wasters as well. I’ve quickly found the Molotov throwers to be the biggest threat in Mercenaries since you can lose seconds in the burning animation and they can drop fire on you while you’re mid-animation for executions or escaping a grab. Some quick tips: -Melee grants big time bonuses but it really breaks even for certain longer animations since the clock doesn’t stop while you’re using melee. Melee on Luis and Hunk can be a bad call sometimes vs Leon and Krauser which is pretty much always a good idea. -I personally drop the TMP for Krauser at the start. It’s weak, inaccurate, and eats up potential arrow space. His knife and bow are better options 90% of the time. I like Krauser but I find keeping a combo to be the most difficult for him. Since he’s melee-focused, the odds of an offscreen enemy grabbing you and wasting time skyrockets and his only fast-kill options are the slow bow, grenades, and his Mayhem. -Luis is immune to his own dynamite and shooting it makes it explode. You can easily drop 4-5 sticks per Mayhem if you’re quick but sometimes it’s smarter to let enemies group up around the dynamite first. -For every character you can use Mayhem as a panic button. Triggering it causes an AoE of stagger regardless of the enemy type. Luis has a smaller AoE for every subsequent dynamite he places but it can still be used to stagger a boss out of an animation.
Only utility I've seen for Krauser's TMP is shooting the head and knees quickly for melee kills. It's not meant at all for killing on its own since it has level 1 stats if you inspect it, it's just supposed to set up melee kills at close range. Also good for picking off crossbow or other projectile enemies, you just gotta make sure it's fully loaded since it'll usually take a full mag to kill reliably. Overall I'd say he gives HUNK a run for his money as the strongest character, his only real weakness is ranged threats.
Damn literally just got done watching your entire play through a resident evil 4 about 30 minutes ago and this drops right after. You're talking about good timing
Luis is actually really strong on the village map, you can basically camp the whole time in that corner by the broken shack and clear the whole ramp with his mayhem mode. If you save it for bosses S++ is a breeze with him.
In today's video, Max demonstrates how to reduce the strain on the national budget by trimming down the pension spending. Goddamn genius. This remake is truly incredible.
I can't wait to see Max playing the story on proffesional mode. I know how much he likes to stick to the most basic weapons and upgrade them to the top but I really hope he tries the handcannon, it's so much fun and a lifesaver with the hardest bosses... And let's not forget the golden egg against Salazar
We need a Zombie game with Character Creation Like Dragons Dogma 2 But with ONLY Zombies and Mutated Zombie Animals. build your own base, find survivors, make a Town, and so on and so on.
I’m so glad you love the spooky fingers hunk does as much as I do, I laughed so hard when I saw that the first time, and said spooky the exact same way as you did then 😂
Krauser has some sick combos. I got an S ranking just using his knife attacks. They def had people from their fighting game division working on the combat in this game lol
The difference of hardcore and this mode is absurd. I was like what is going on here but it still offers a moderate challenge. I'm having fun with it but I wish for more stages and maybe a reward system would have been good like getting gold and silver tokens.
Huge compliment @Max. He is obviously a skilled player, but wow... There were moments when his first Leon run looked like a horror version of John Wick. First attempt, immediately got S+. Very impressive.
I remember grinding Leons dock stage on the OG, with the super salvadors. Cheesing them with grenades and I-frames on ladders while keeping the combo going. Was my final stage for the handcannon too iirc.I really hope it's still there 😄

I do wish Hunk had a second animation for the neck snap. It's kinda weird to melee a guy from behind, suddenly appear in front of him, then move behind him and do the neck snap
Thing about the Handcannon though, the way to unlock it [and achievement attached], is to beat the game on Professional without any bonus weapons. Now I know what people might think "Oh! Just do it on New Game Plus", but you can't do that. Specifically says New Game. Everything else that says "beat the story on [difficulty]" can be done in a second playthrough on a completed file. So to give two ways of getting the Handcannon, while I believe there should be more than just that for a reward (Like maybe Leons RPD outfit or able to give Leon HUNKs outfit for example), would have been nice too.
Hola, I'm a mo cap performer and wanted to share a painful story of mine about these REmakes. In late 2015 I was in contact with Capcom about the motion capture role of Leon for the RE 2 Remake. I failed to mention I also have a voice acting background, in the end I lost the part...☹ Now many years later, when I see how successful those remakes are I can't forgive myself for wasting such an opportunity. In this business one audition can change your entire life. PS. I got Mercs on 3ds and it's pretty cool too.
Mercenaries is so freakin fun man I love Hunk so much. Hopefully Ada, Wesker and a few more stages get added too. Also, where is my RPD outfit for Leon Capcom…
Ada, Wesker, and one new map were datamined a little before the mercenaries update. As for the RPD uniform nothing yet unfortunately. Also I respect the Ardyn pfp.
@@kosaku_kq5601 I've heard there's also a "Leon B" and "Ada B", which is Leon and Ada in different outfits and with a different loadout. The outfits are pinstripe and red dress but I don't know what the loadouts are.
I laughed so hard when Max had HUNK go ham with his machine gun while screaming,"AUUUUUUHHHHHGH!!" because it reminded me of his RE2 Leon B original playthrough when he had Leon dump all his submachine gun ammo into Berkin before ending the game XD
This Mercenaries is so stupid fun its ridiculous. If the game was 9/10 for you it might actually add 1. I only wish there was Co-op and more rewards. I think we can expect Ada and Wesker added later
Man... on the village my max score is about 440,00 with Leon, 550,000 with Luis, 570,000 with krauser, And 740,000 with hunk And this man Max just casually gets over 700,000 with Leon on his FIRST try lmao FML
Imagine this mode being in a full game with this dude who fights and transforms like krauser, shoots like Hunk and looks like Leon but instead of a knife he has a giant sword, he's faster and instead of zombies we have demons. I think Capcom could make that and call it Devil May something.
Every character is very fun, very different. Can't wait for Ada and Wesker. Also funny that Village is the "basic" or "easiest" stage but it actually has the most dangerous bosses (scariest for me) in the chainsaw imo.
Maximum score: 1. Multi-kills, +1k for every enemy you kill simultaneously. 2. Time bonus, AKA headshots. +1k per second. Melee offers extra time too, though not as much, unless you knife them in the head. 3. Mayhem kills, especially on high multiplier.
Awesome video! The RE4 remake has some parts that are faithful to the original while others are new, and in my latest action-packed episode of the original Resident Evil 4 series on mobile, I faced off against the formidable Mendez boss. Keep up the fantastic work!
After hearing you could unlock the handcannon by S ranking each of the 3 levels I gave it a shot. I would say i'm about average, but S ranking is relatively easy to do with Leon.....honestly I am having trouble getting a A rank on ANY level with Luis to unlock the next character.
the crit path seems to be something like- find all the time orbs go out of your way on your attempt to get the harder ones *with more doors and such then run towards the easier ones while starting your combo meleeing all enemies on your path to the last ones and finishing in a corner where you sit until the end building your combo
Leon is like the tutorial character for Mercs, he's the one that everyone should feel comfy to begin with as we've spent time with him for story mode. Then, the real fun begins when you try out the others. Sure, it'll feel a lil' off but once you crack down their playstyles, then yeah, Leon is just meh. RE Mercs has always been a fun arcade side mode in 4 and 5, not played 6 so I don't know what that was like. But it's a shame that Capcom made the dedicated Mercs on the 3DS rather than on console/PC for like £/$15.
Re6 mercenaries was the same but certain characters were better than others for certain maps that they can struggle with like Piers in zombie maps it's generally fun fast paced and as chaotic as the rest it's like a John wick movie on crack
this mode is so much fun funny how i find Leon to be the easy one to play and easy to S++ because in Mayhem mode his hand gun can pop any enemy head and give 5000 potin+2 sec so even i didn't get the combo i still get S++ easy oh you know what Capcom should of beyond when they're update this mode with Ada and Wesker they should add Lady from DMC she got Handgun Machinegun and Rocket Launcher ohh that gonna be cool Guest Character Come on Capcom Do it
@@johnwagner370 i know everyone want Dante but i feel weird to see Dante have to walk around and aim and shoot like RE4R i feel like Lady works well fit in here like her Melee can be pull out Kalina Ann and hit them with it or her Mayhem be like Rocket everywhere you know
I was not anticipating that the characters would have unique equipment (unavaliable to Leon in the main game) in this. Mayhem mode is a fun idea. Shouldn't be afraid to get a little goofy in a mode like this. Was honestly kinda expecting it to be a bit more of a basic horde mode than this. Nice.
Re village was just eh because the game had a constant identity crisis. It was a case of too many chefs in the kitchen where different devs wanted to shape the game differently from what other devs working on it were going for.
There really is no point in the OG strategy of running around to collect all the time-ups before starting the massacre in the Remake's version of Mercs. Only the green ones are time-ups, the yellow ones are Mayhem Mode meter fills, and which shows up where is randomized each run. You're best-off focusing on headshot/knife kills to keep the time bonuses flowing as you build your combo, and moving steadily around the map to locate the pick-ups as the stage progresses. This way you can snag time-ups as you find them and make mental notes of where the Mayhem Mode refills are so you can lure the boss enemies toward them when they spawn and take 'em out on your own terms.
That's exactly what my thoughts were when I played it but then later on I checked what people were doing to get world record type scores and it turns out they were all doing the old strategy of running around and collecting the time/mayhem bonuses first and then beginning their onslaught.
@@OneTrueNobody fun is subjective. For what others is fun may just be the exact thing you find unfun and vice versa. Some people relish achieving higher and higher scores because they find it fun.
@@bruhder5854 *shrug* And most people who do that don't bother with world-record attempts, which require a completely different mindset that sacrifices "fun" for intense, never-ending repetition on the level of doing unpaid QA testing on the product. But it's not "subjective," it's the nature of the beast.
@@OneTrueNobody I disagree. If the process itself isn't bringing joy, it's not worth striving to pushing the boundaries. I don't know of a single person that pushes themselves that hard for something they don't enjoy doing. Sure they'll get frustrated but that's part of the experience. Although I'm confused about the reason for this conversation. I don't see why we're trying to debate the validity (ig?) of the said reason.

@@GameHopperME A No Mercy mode has been found in the files
The OG you had to 5 star each stage with each character... So, a minimum of 20 runs.
And as someone who personally didn't like Mercenaries mode, it can be a slog.
That said, it's not bad, just... it can be a tad unforgiving.
@@shelbyherring92 It's a challenge mode. Capcom didn't want to present players with the Hand Canon until they had proven they mastered the game's mechanics. I respect that.
Capcom always know how to make a good arcade game.
Some quick tips:
-Melee grants big time bonuses but it really breaks even for certain longer animations since the clock doesn’t stop while you’re using melee.
One time on island i got to 149 enemies and sprnt my remaining 2 minutes trying to find him but couldnt, not sure if it bugged or what
Hunk: Hey...wanna see a magic trick?
I was just checking the playlist and seen this new video 😮 so excited to watch it
Damn literally just got done watching your entire play through a resident evil 4 about 30 minutes ago and this drops right after. You're talking about good timing
It makes me happy to see Luis getting to use his Lance.
Krauser just turns the game into a hack n slash and I'm loving it.
"Stupid ass game is so much fun" ─ Maximilian Dood, should be a sticker in the cover of the game.
Hunk: "My favorite SCP is 173."
Ganado: "Why's that?"
Hunk: *Snap*
Luis is actually really strong on the village map, you can basically camp the whole time in that corner by the broken shack and clear the whole ramp with his mayhem mode. If you save it for bosses S++ is a breeze with him.
Hunk and Krauser and super OP! But Luis and Leon are really fun too. I played for about 3 hours last night it's definitely addicting.
Luis immune to his dynamite explosion btw
In today's video, Max demonstrates how to reduce the strain on the national budget by trimming down the pension spending. Goddamn genius. This remake is truly incredible.
I can't wait to see Max playing the story on proffesional mode. I know how much he likes to stick to the most basic weapons and upgrade them to the top but I really hope he tries the handcannon, it's so much fun and a lifesaver with the hardest bosses... And let's not forget the golden egg against Salazar
I cant be the only one imaginings Krauser wave dashing like a Mishima because he can in the game 👀
This dude is legitimately fun to watch. I have subbed good sir
Hunk is officially the doomguy of resident evil series.
so krauser vergil,dante or something
57:05 the dude spinning in the air, Hunk's too much for them lmao.
Would love another kind of coop survival in this game. Players pick the characters and can buy from the merchant while surviving waves.
Yooo
We need a Zombie game with Character Creation Like Dragons Dogma 2 But with ONLY Zombies and Mutated Zombie Animals.
build your own base, find survivors, make a Town, and so on and so on.
0:03 HunK: For my next trick, I'll make a life disappear... 0:05 Hunk: TADAAAAH!
In my mind, once the neck snaps the person in his hands become a 'thing' to discard and no longer part of the mission, that's how I see his animation
The difference of hardcore and this mode is absurd. I was like what is going on here but it still offers a moderate challenge.
I'm having fun with it but I wish for more stages and maybe a reward system would have been good like getting gold and silver tokens.
the ragdoll spinning at 57:02 lmao
I like how everyone else is playing Mercenaries, but Krauser is all TEKKEN in your face
17:55 Luis is praying for the sht that's going to happen XD
Huge compliment @Max. He is obviously a skilled player, but wow... There were moments when his first Leon run looked like a horror version of John Wick. First attempt, immediately got S+. Very impressive.
"Guess there's no keeping down the Grim Reaper, huh?"
I never liked the mercs mode except in RE6, but this is probably my favorite version of it now. I still don't see myself playing often though.
Same, I much prefer the mode where you loot different rarities of guns with different stats. Revelations was the best.
@@nyrva2876 Yeah, the Raid modes in the Rev games where great.
I remember grinding Leons dock stage on the OG, with the super salvadors. Cheesing them with grenades and I-frames on ladders while keeping the combo going. Was my final stage for the handcannon too iirc.I really hope it's still there 😄
oh yeah, that made the knife broken in the OG water world mercenaries

I do wish Hunk had a second animation for the neck snap. It's kinda weird to melee a guy from behind, suddenly appear in front of him, then move behind him and do the neck snap
A little bit picky aren't we.
@@thirteen8582 Uh not really. I just think there should be a second animation of Hunk doing the neck snap from behind.
@@wildbard4112 Fair enough
Every other "nothing personnel" guy teleports behind you, but Hunk teleports in front of you! Now that's magic! >:P
hunk have 2 more melle animation, but only if you shoot enemy on leg
Thing about the Handcannon though, the way to unlock it [and achievement attached], is to beat the game on Professional without any bonus weapons. Now I know what people might think "Oh! Just do it on New Game Plus", but you can't do that. Specifically says New Game. Everything else that says "beat the story on [difficulty]" can be done in a second playthrough on a completed file. So to give two ways of getting the Handcannon, while I believe there should be more than just that for a reward (Like maybe Leons RPD outfit or able to give Leon HUNKs outfit for example), would have been nice too.
Mercenaries should have it's own spin-off game. Maps and characters from every entry in the series.
meanwhile capcom be like "REsistance"
Yo I've been saying this! Every character, every stage, and add a co-op and versus mode just for the shits
There's Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, if that counts
Naw just add multiplayer. If they added a 4 player co op that would be crazy.
@@nullaccount1999 Yeah Mercenaries 3D is great, but it's too small. We need a console game
Hola, I'm a mo cap performer and wanted to share a painful story of mine about these REmakes.
In late 2015 I was in contact with Capcom about the motion capture role of Leon for the RE 2 Remake.
I failed to mention I also have a voice acting background, in the end I lost the part...☹
Now many years later, when I see how successful those remakes are I can't forgive myself for wasting such an opportunity.
In this business one audition can change your entire life. PS. I got Mercs on 3ds and it's pretty cool too.
Bro how many videos are you gonna comment this on lol
Near the end of this video, Max displayed some serious journalism gameplay skills haha
Mercenaries is so freakin fun man I love Hunk so much. Hopefully Ada, Wesker and a few more stages get added too. Also, where is my RPD outfit for Leon Capcom…
The cop part of Leon died, he said so himself, so no RPD outfit lol
Ada, Wesker, and one new map were datamined a little before the mercenaries update. As for the RPD uniform nothing yet unfortunately. Also I respect the Ardyn pfp.
I just hope we could use all the merc characters through the main story. Especially krauser!
I absolutely loved that I heard bits of RE2R Hunk theme in his mercenary mode theme
It also has his theme from OG 2 mixed in
Man... on the village my max score is about
440,00 with Leon,
550,000 with Luis,
570,000 with krauser,
And 740,000 with hunk
And this man Max just casually gets over 700,000 with Leon on his FIRST try lmao FML
I love how every character has their own music.
Imagine this mode being in a full game with this dude who fights and transforms like krauser, shoots like Hunk and looks like Leon but instead of a knife he has a giant sword, he's faster and instead of zombies we have demons. I think Capcom could make that and call it Devil May something.
Watching Krauser in this really makes me want a spin-off RE game with him as the playable. Leon and Krauser co-op RE5 style spec ops game
There's an on-rails shooter with him and Leon
@@Asterail I know, I've played the all. 😉. I want something a little more hands on.
Every character is very fun, very different. Can't wait for Ada and Wesker.
Also funny that Village is the "basic" or "easiest" stage but it actually has the most dangerous bosses (scariest for me) in the chainsaw imo.
I felt the same way in the original. Castle is my favorite because it has more time bonuses and I only have to deal with a couple of Garradors
@@mbrillon765 Same for me too. I'm always terrified of Chainsaw or any enemy who can instant kill basically. Not a fan of instant kill at all. 😅😅
Maximum score:
This game are sick. Mercenaries even more fun than before. Looking forward to Weskin Time
I wish they add Ashley! And make her a fun character, with comedic moves. That'd be great!
Been waiting for this. Thank you Max 👍💯
After hearing you could unlock the handcannon by S ranking each of the 3 levels I gave it a shot. I would say i'm about average, but S ranking is relatively easy to do with Leon.....honestly I am having trouble getting a A rank on ANY level with Luis to unlock the next character.
the crit path seems to be something like- find all the time orbs go out of your way on your attempt to get the harder ones *with more doors and such
then run towards the easier ones while starting your combo meleeing all enemies on your path to the last ones and finishing in a corner where you sit until the end building your combo
eventually they should add the time orbs over time to force map engagement during the trial
Always hit em with the jazz hands after snapping someone’s neck
Leon's mayhem mode should've been Chris showing up and boxing all of the ganados to keep the Redfield bloodline continued
6:31 this Arnold battlecry from the Predator cracked me up 😂
1:08:35 one thing you can do is activate your mayhem mode instantly when grabbed by enemy instead of waiting to do knife retaliation.
I wish this was co-op like in 5 honestly I'd buy a 5 remake just for another Co-op mercenaries
Re6 mercenaries was the same but certain characters were better than others for certain maps that they can struggle with like Piers in zombie maps it's generally fun fast paced and as chaotic as the rest it's like a John wick movie on crack
this mode is so much fun
funny how i find Leon to be the easy one to play and easy to S++ because in Mayhem mode his hand gun can pop any enemy head and give 5000 potin+2 sec so even i didn't get the combo i still get S++ easy
oh you know what Capcom should of beyond when they're update this mode with Ada and Wesker they should add Lady from DMC she got Handgun Machinegun and Rocket Launcher ohh that gonna be cool Guest Character Come on Capcom Do it
They would probably add Dante first
@@johnwagner370 i know everyone want Dante but i feel weird to see Dante have to walk around and aim and shoot like RE4R
i feel like Lady works well fit in here like her Melee can be pull out Kalina Ann and hit them with it or her Mayhem be like Rocket everywhere you know
I was not anticipating that the characters would have unique equipment (unavaliable to Leon in the main game) in this. Mayhem mode is a fun idea. Shouldn't be afraid to get a little goofy in a mode like this. Was honestly kinda expecting it to be a bit more of a basic horde mode than this. Nice.
The K in HUNK stands for Khiropractor
Hunk has always been my favorite, and he's hardly used
I can't believe how much easier they made getting the hand cannon. But it is what it is.
THIS is the version of Mercenaries that I expected in RE:Village. I'm glad they did it eventually, but this should have been what it was initially.
Re village was just eh because the game had a constant identity crisis. It was a case of too many chefs in the kitchen where different devs wanted to shape the game differently from what other devs working on it were going for.
1:44:29 you get handgun and shotgun ammo only from the fixed chests in the stage. Mobs drop only the Rifle ammo.
28:33
Jus To Let You Know Luis’ Dynamites Do NOT Hurt Him So You Can Stand On Top Of It And Shoot It And Drop Another One Right After 👍
Max you’re getting jacked! I see you 💪🏽
There really is no point in the OG strategy of running around to collect all the time-ups before starting the massacre in the Remake's version of Mercs.
@@bruhder5854 *shrug* World record gameplay is always gameplay minus fun, anyway.
World record setters don't do it because the process itself is fun. They do it because they value the accomplishment more than the process. And that's okay.
You mentioned in the first post that there was no point to the og strategy of rushing for timer collection and my reason for commenting was that there was a reason and stated what the reason was. I don't see why we're trying to debate the validity (ig?) of the said reason.
There’s nobody else on the platform I’d rather see play RE:4 Remake or FF7. What an absolute joy!
