It’s refreshing to watch a video from a warm and knowledgeable local vs an annoying over the top travel blogger couple. I said what I said. 😂 Thank you!!
Thanks for watching! Not sure what makes someone over the top. I make my commentary as close as I can as though I were talking to a friend visiting to the islands.
I've made that exact walk several times including twice on our last trip to Oahu this past March. The walkway in front of the Sheraton Waikiki has been sealed off for a while. The sand has eroded under the concrete steps making it a hazard. Until they decide to refill the sand it will remain closed. Those concrete tables just outside the tennis courts near the Hale Koa had a lot of homeless people the last time that I was there. I completely agree about Steak Shack. Very good food and good portions as well. It can get very crowded but the service is pretty fast. We also tried the smoothie place right next to it. I don't remember the name of the place but it was good although a little overpriced. We stayed at the Sheraton Waikiki (mainly because of your walk through of the property) and one morning I rented one of those red umbrellas with 2 lounge chairs in front of the Royal Hawaiian. It was $100 for the entire day (8 am-4 pm). It was well worth it. My three favorite places covered on your walk are: 1. The infinity pool at the Sheraton Waikiki 2. Duke's for breakfast 3. The Banyan Tree Bar at the Moana Surfrider. Thank you for another great, informative video!!

Hi!! I visited Waikiki 4 years ago & you helped my party so much when booking tours! I have another trip coming up soon & I was so happy to see you in these videos! They’re incredibly helpful, thank you so much for all you do!!
Waikiki was beautiful in July. We stayed a couple of days at Outrigger Beach Club 11th floor ocean front few. The view was magical. It started are trip off to a perfect start. We then went to Marriott in Ko Olina perfect for kids private lagoon, 5 hot tubs, 3 pools. Then we went to Disney KoOlina for a few days. 2 days was the max I could stay here but was fun for 4 year old. The resturant food was also good.
I have been to waikiki and stayed at the Hawaiian Village multiple times but learned so much from your vlog. Great work! Will definitely subscribe and recommend😊
Been to Oahu maybe a dozen times, but only walked through the Royal Hawaiian Hotel once and have never actually been on Waikiki Beach. Next time, I will try to walk it. I found out a few months ago that the sand on Waikiki was brought over by barg from Manhattan Beach, CA. Close to where I used to live. Now it is dredged back up from offshore Waikiki.
Planning on making that stretch from Kuhio Beach to the Royal Hawaiian my daily early morning beach walk on my next trip. Maybe I’ll finally give Steak Shack a try 😆
I haven't been to Hawaii since 1984. I remember that I stayed at a hotel named the Waikiki Towers there on Waikiki Beach. I'm not sure but I thought that I remember the Outrigger Reef Hotel being next to it. In your video you mentioned the Waikiki Shore Motel and said that the Outrigger Reef was beside it. Do you know what became of the Waikiki Towers Motel after all these years I haven't found much about it online. Has it been demolished and rebuilt under another name like the Waikiki Shore or something else? I remember there being some nightclubs right across the street from it but forgot what street it was on. I also went to the Paradise Cove Luau is that still in existence? The Sunset from Paradise Cove was amazing!! Your video is awesome and brought back some nostalgic memories for me as that was my first ever trip on my own to celebrate my 21st Birthday. Thank you for that and if you know the answers to any of my questions or can point me in the right direction I would much appreciate that! Thank you, John. 😀
We stayed in hilton hawai village in 2009 on honeymoon and hope to go next year again . The side she is standing at the lagoon was course sand and painful to sit or walk on but the far side was mostly fine sand. Wish it was fine sand all way round the lagoon.
We stayed at Halekulani in 2019, beautiful hotel!! We cant decided where to stay this time 🫤 Its between Hilton Hawaiian village, The sheraton Waikiki beach and Alohilani resort. Ko Olina on the west side is a nice beach area - much less crowded than Waikiki (highest concentration of hotels on the islands). The North Shore is also really nice too!
I lived here in the 40's where the beaches were pure and untouched by the big tourist hotels and shopping centers... My uncle who used to spear fish and cooked it right there on the beach and surfed is now not allowed .... greedy real estate ruined Hawaii driving the real Hawaiians to become homeless because of high prices ....shameful 😥
My first time there was in 1980 , 19 1/2 years old, lol yeah I’m old obviously I’ve been back to three times since. things have changed obviously here and there not much though
This is why the Hilton Hawaiian Village is forever my "go to" in Oahu...also, i tried to get to the little island in the lagoon entering from the side by the diary queen at the base of the rainbow tower...it started at my knees but when i took 3 or 4 steps in, it went up to my neck so i got out quick (i don't know how to swim) lol

@@YestoHawaii It’s probably a pretty narrow desire, but I’ve kinda got PTSD (laughing) about my vacation spot being like the swamp thing again. The one thing I told my (ex) travel agent I cared about was having crystal blue water on the beach to swim in., and she sent us there. I spent an extra $1000 on an excursion to the other side of the island so my family could experience the crystal blue waters. Now I’m checking hotels to see what their beach looks like ahead of time. I hope to be in Waikiki (sp) this summer.
P.S. The seaweed was so bad they used bulldozers to clear the beaches every single day. Apparently every summer a massive bed of kelp releases from Africa, and makes its way to the Caribbean. Stay away from the Atlantic Ocean side of the islands in the summer. They get inundated with seaweed in the summer months.
