Your lessons are a ton of fun. Feels like you´re talking to each one of us personally in a way which feels comfortable, motivating and at times unexpectedly hilarious. Thank you so much!
I was one of those who struggled for quite a while trying to play the high notes. For me it required two years of persistence playing at least a couple of hours each day before the high notes began to play naturally. Throughout my life I enjoyed learning new things and began the "Harmonica Project" on March 7, 2015 with the goal of playing proficiently in a short amount of time partly because my father played on occasion leading me to believe it was a simple instrument. On my journey I purchased at least 30 professional grade Hohners and wore out one of the reeds on ten of them making them unplayable. Although I now have mics, pedals and amps and really enjoy playing I have to admit I am no where close to mastering it compared to great players including you and Christille . Thank you for your videos Adam as they provided a lot of guidance and inspiration for me.
What a great video! Thank you Adam. I just started playing a couple of weeks ago and have already noticed some of the "weird" things that you mentioned, especially about how lip position seems to change according to which hole I'm blowing. I also laughed when you said that a new player might think something is wrong with their harp. Have to admit, that thought had crossed my mind. LOL. I appreciate your videos.
A few friends and I are just learning how to play. This is the perfect beginners' lesson and I just shared your video with them. I now subscribe to your channel and look forward to learning more! Cheers.
I notice you have your middle finger behind the harp when holding it in your left. That’s a great idea to stabilize the harp You are the man. Thanks Gusso!!’
Very nice video of your's ... i've watched it in the middle of the night.. because i'm a beginner .. i've got a Blues Harp Ms and a Big River.. i cannot fully bend .. i can bend but not all the three step on the third hole.. sorry i will do you exercise from 1D 1B on the first hole to the 10B 10D on the 10Th hole.. i already tryed it .. it is a little demanding that's why you told us to do that .. when you arrive to the 9 and 10 holes you have really to use more diaphramatic force to blow and draw and also the embochure control is demanding (for a newbie ) .
I'm still working on getting clean single notes. I've been praciticing with your guide to Oh Susana but I really like doing the C scale as a way to start off and find my positioning. I like the added exercises before doing the whole scale, though, and your reasoning for using every hole. I appreciate all of the tips and guides you have on your channel. The beginner riffs are really fun when I just want to switch it up a bit and have some fun near the end of a day of practice.
Ok. MY question for you is: Where and How did you learn to TEACH? Because you're wonderful at it. :-) (yes, I play harmonica; but I do more teaching...)
good advice adam...do you have a recording of nat and larry johnson doing "big boss man"..i loved the way they did that song...i had never played a harmonica in my life but i was a blues junkie way before that...i finally got up enough courage to ask nat for lessons one night when he was playing down in shockoe slip,richmond..he taught me to tongue block right away...it seemed like forever to play a clear 2 hole draw..thanks adam and my brother says hello...
No, I didn't know that they played that song. I also didn't know that Nat played Shockoe Slip. I hope you're coming to The Camel when my trio, Sir Rod & The Blues, play there on July 6. Please bring friends! www.modernbluesharmonica.com/personal_appearances.html
we moved to west va. a couple of years ago but still have alot of ties to richmond..maybe i can make it anyway...thanks for letting me know...the first time i met nat was at the farmers market inn down in shockoe bottom..its not there anymore...eventually my band played there also..take care
Hey a new player have a problem with my lips not sliding and dry out fast what am I doing wrong and how to correct. Haven't seen you mention it in your videos. Thanks!
Great lesson! Best on the web. So why are you always taping your videos in a car? Does your wife act like mine when I play my harmonica. She doesn’t appreciate me playing . She tells me it’s too loud no matter what volume I play at.
Thank you, Adam. Fifty-six and just got my first harmonica. Basics. Yes.
Your lessons are a ton of fun. Feels like you´re talking to each one of us personally in a way which feels comfortable, motivating and at times unexpectedly hilarious. Thank you so much!

Good point on the hole theory. When you get intimate with the instrument, no two holes are alike.
Top lesson!

1) You may be dehydrated. Drink more water. 2) Use Chapstick or Burt's Bees (my fav).
👍🍻😎🇬🇧
Title don't give enough credit to this video - I learned how to play single notes & how to practice playing
Great lesson! Best on the web.
