So many people just walk by without stopping and enjoying this awesome free show. I would grab a cold beer and sit on that bench next to him. Them I would leave a big fat tip.
Thanks to all who have been kind to this video. It was filmed five years ago by my good friend Cliff Hall. I had been playing footdrums for only two months and was greatly enjoying this new career direction. I had no idea what I was doing, drum-wise, and was making it all up as I went along. The kickdrum was more "whap" than "thump," which is not ideal, but I owe Pete Farmer of Farmer Foot Drums huge thanks for helping give me the beat. Thanks, Pete!
Just watched one of your lesson videos, my god that helped, too bad i dont know how to bend notes yet, i am mostly learning by just what i call shooting the breeze on my harmonica, a bluesband honer C
I began playing Harp the day after Christmas (26th December) and I understand how skilled this guy is. When the Harp is played well it has a feeling words can't express as you feel it more than hear it. People like Mississippi Fred McDowell, Son House, Charley Patton etc go beyond words and this guy has it also.
@wimharp: You mean: What drives a street musician to become a university professor? Great question! I decided that it wasn't enough just to play music for the people; I needed to honor my inner pedant.
@meettheworld6241 WZ just going to say something similar. It's Clarksdale, Mississippi. They're probably jaded as they can be and see this all the time.
How many Buskers can play like this ? The least they can do to reward such great, rich sounds is for everyone to put a Dollar in or more as they pass by - no excuse. 🤔
The daddy of all harp players.this man is unbelievable, and for sharing his free advice videos- a legend and a gentleman. Adam plays like we all aspire to one day, but sadly, the reality is- we won't. Why?? Cos no one plays the "devils music" on the harp like Mr Gussow. Thankyou for sharing Adam
We are not all of the ilk of AG, but we all have our part to play in life. It's about working hard to find your gift in life and then working harder to give that gift away. Peace brother man and best wishes on your journey 🤘
Adam, you're a hero. A while a go I was really into your lessons and they helped me a lot! Just wanna say thanks for those lessons. I want an Adam Gussow action figure.
HI Adam, Can't thank you enough for being so generous with giving free harp lessons to the entire world! I think I've watched only 10% of them but I learned a few new things. - Ross
adam as a harp player i just want to say thank you so much for the online lessons and your web site morden blues harmonica, has really helped me get better and become more musical cheers!
@barkingchihuahua: Yes, I had a 50 year old student in a beginning class many years ago, and he became obsessed with the instrument. He practiced hours a day. Within two years, he was working regularly with TWO blues bands in New York City. You should take a look at my website, Modern Blues Harmonica (dot) com. Lots of lessons there. Also, on my personal appearances page, a list of gigs. Chicago, New York, Copenhagen, Kansas.....and Mississippi, of course.
The second half of this song is one of the hardest harmonica songs I’ve ever seen ever It’s harder than Freebird This one’s actually giving me a headache trying to learn it I’m getting there though
Love the way Adam incorporates modern jazz while never giving up the traditional blues feel. It's what the old timers would have done if those riffs were out there back then!
Great Adam Satan would be proud Who'd think that the student came to be as great as the master Thanks for bringing the sweet pain of the blues into my life
Great jams! Those passers by don't appreciate what they're missing. I also spotted the new "Ain't going doggin' no more" video that just came up. Lovely. Live long and Keep Harping! Cheers
Kool so Kool ,we spend most of our lives not doing the things we should do.and the many talented people out there doing what they love and sharing what they are good at. Big thanks much appreciated.
@talbot300889: Yes, it's a Bb harp. I've revised the "more info" extended description to include links to a video and tab for the first song, "Buford Chapel Breakdown," which I ended up putting on my first album. It got a lot of airplay on "Bluesville" XM/Sirius satellite radio.
Followed this guy on youtube for some time and watched his lessons. Today when I was listinging to BB KINGS bluesville on satilite radio i heard him on there. Just as soon as he started playing I was like hey thats Adam. One of the best harpist ive ever heard.
Adam, Mahalo (thanks in Hawaiian) for your continued flow in inspiration and instruction of playing the blues harp. Your personality and style of teaching makes it so accessible to padawan learners. Just when I get too frustrated or hyperventilated and want to put down the harp...there you are encouraging me via your vids. Thanks again, Jedi Harp Master. "Puka" is Hawaiian for "hole" thus I am the Ten Puka Man. Aloha, Adam.
Gotta just love that. Thanks Adam.Having played blues harp for 45 years I can appreciate what's going on as far as being able to play like that well that's another story.Just inspirational really. In some ways I like it more than your Crossroads vid which is just a real jump and stomp number.Great ! Your keepin it real.
Approval. Just listened to the Crossroads video. Inspiring. I found my way to your website, Blues Harmonica, went through the lists, listened to the 20s and 30s and liked Alfred Lewis, Lee Brown, Jaybird Coleman, and Robert Hill. Thought of Cream-ing them or Led-ding and what it would sound like. Now back to your site.
We're all warmin up listenin to you Adam. You are like a cool glass of (water or beer take you preference) on a very hot day. And I agree with the last guy - how can they just pass by....?
I love listening to you play Adam. Your fantastic and obviously you love playing. I hear it and see it. So cool. So really cool. See you and Satan at the Riverwalk, Blues 2014 February. I can't wait. Never seen you in person.
Just found Gussow today. Absolutely love this guy! If you're looking for solid advice and lessons ...please check out his many videos I've learned a lot from him. God Bless you Gussow
I hear what you're saying, but you and I hear things differently. I kept the beat going because I wanted to hip listeners to a continuity they might not have otherwise have sensed between the two songs. The foot drum is that link.
Man that is pure talent..Love it and will soon be learning to play myself..Due to rheumatoid arthritis I cant play stringed instruments any longer.Your a true inspiration.
I love this Music, many times I have listened to this Music an the video of Crossroads. A lot of good feeling with only harmonica and drum. Thumbs up for you!
Awesome. Man, I love it.. I wanta go down to the delta and sit on one of those porches in Clarksdale and play and listen to some good blues.. yep that would be totally cool....
So many people just walk by without stopping and enjoying this awesome free show. I would grab a cold beer and sit on that bench next to him. Them I would leave a big fat tip.
I got you
How could you hear this and not want to groove with it?
Amen to that, brother 🤘🏼
Oh yeah bro. Definitely!
Wow just wow this guy is really talented 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇺🇸🇺🇸
He was the professor for one of my English classes at the University of Mississippi. Very cool dude and a really good professor
Haha wow no way! xD Amazing.
Nice professor
He plays a mean Harp too.
cfl logistics He is considered among the best by many professional harp players.
Amazing And how could folk pass by? Guess they got no soul.
Thanks to all who have been kind to this video. It was filmed five years ago by my good friend Cliff Hall. Congratulation Adam.... What harp used....? Awesome !
I'm a Harp player & love U brother. Keep The Blues Alive !!
@wimharp: You mean: What drives a street musician to become a university professor? Great question! I decided that it wasn't enough just to play music for the people; I needed to honor my inner pedant.
Ok 👌c’est super 💎
I'm wondering how some people (in the video) can just pass by without a look or to stop, are they deaf??? Your music is so amazing!!!!
People who aren't terminally online and actually leave the house tend not to overreact to normal things on the street.
This is just another day of life in Mississippi... Talent and soul are common place within the older generations
@meettheworld6241 WZ just going to say something similar.

Truely a man that makes the world a better place. Why can't everybody do things like him.
