As the NFL Season is set to kick off this week, we are wrapping up our training camp tour and had the opportunity to sit down with dynamic running back and recent Super Bowl Champion, Leonard Fournette.
Lenny, a man of many nicknames and native of Louisiana, joins The Pivot for an in-depth conversation about football and family. With the guys always on Channing about his footwear, Leonard starts the show by gifting him a new pair of Dunks to upgrade his shoe game.
Sharing the LSU connection and New Orleans roots, Ryan goes back to Leonard's early football days from watching him in high school to college to him becoming a 4th overall pick in the draft and recognizing that he's always faced turmoil and backlash throughout his career but has always been a dominant player.
Known for his unique ability to pick up blitzes and run the ball, Leonard discusses the trials and tribulations he’s faced throughout life and his determination to persevere beating all odds from his time in little league through high school and college to getting drafted by Jacksonville in 2017, learning an important lesson along the way: to whom much is given, much will be required.
Fred, understanding the Jacksonville organization, asks Leonard what really happened with the Jags and the final straw for him to leave there when he was vested as the future of the team. Being released 2 weeks before the 2020 season was one of the most shocking NFL moves as well as a shot to Leonard and the relationship he felt he had with the coaching staff, especially Doug Marone.
However this move, considered a blessing and a curse, as Leonard answered the call from across the state and ended up signing with Tampa Bay to play with Tom Brady. Fast forward to winning a Super Bowl that season but more importantly, evolving as a man, a leader and developing a more mature outlook on football and business. Under the leadership of #12, Leonard has tried to pass down his experiences to the younger players as Brady did for him and reunited for one more season, the Bucs are in position and ready to make another run this year at winning the Lombardi trophy.
A family first mentality and tight knit group, Leonard shares the hard times growing up, tough love from his father making him who he is today and the hardships they faced after hurricane Katrina and how it made them stronger as a unit and reminded them they can get through anything as long as they are together.
Tap in every Tuesday at Noon Eastern for the premiere of our weekly featured episode with special episode drops on Fridays at 6p eastern throughout our training camp tour. Don’t forget to like and subscribe to our channel and check out www.thepivotpodcast.com.

I know for a fact that this podcast has helped me grow in just a blink of an eye. As a former athlete I was not blessed with the size to go to the next level but what I do know is I was still blessed and given a gift. I have to use that gift and these amazing athletes have taught me just that. I’m doing a disservice to God and the people who can be blessed and benefit from what I have to offer. Use your gift and watch how God will bless you to service others. Don’t be to hard on yourself but take a chance on what is available to you and improve as you go. He didn’t say his production puts him top 5. He basically said if he got the same opportunities he could perform as well as any other.
Derrick Henry before he got hurt:
219 Att in 8 games for 937 yds, 4.3 ypc, and 10 Tds
      Nick Chubb:
      228 att in 14 games 1,259 yds, 5.5 ypc, and 8 Tds
      Jonathan Taylor:
      332 att in 17 games 1,811 yds, 5.5 ypc, and 18 tds
      Fournette:
      180 att in 14 games 812 yds, 4.5 ypc, and 8 tds
Now since y’all are slow I’ll help you understand what he’s saying. Look at who is the focal point on each of these players offenses then look at the weapons surrounding these offenses. Henry got more attempts in 8 games than fournette did in 14. These other players offense runs through them because Tom Brady isn’t on their team. Fournette has 29 more receptions than the next closest out of these 4 backs and the most receiving yards. So he meant if Fournette was the focal point of his offense as well and got the same number of attempts he’d be up there with the best numbers wise. Idk where you got he is a top 5 running back right now from when common sense and looking at the stats shows he doesn’t have the same production but when you dive deeper you see he can be up there.
I slowed it down for you or I guess y’all so I hope it clicked this time👍👍

12:05 listen up. This is BIG. 💎
“I love him..teach him everything..but he NEVER out work me”
He ain’t hiding no secret techniques for his own gain. He’s not afraid to share knowledge. He breaks bread of technique with his teammates. WHY? Because he is comfortable that he will ALWAYS put in the work to not lose his job.
SOOOOOO many teammates you encounter will not share info with you because they are afraid you’ll take their jobs. This is even in the workforce outside of football. But that just holds the entire team and company BACK. 5 sacks in a game could amount to 7 or 8 if the whole team is eating knowledge. 🧠 🍽 . It could be the difference between winning and losing. It could be the reason why your secondary has a weak spot that gets exploited in the slot.
So the big take away is never be afraid to share techniques because at the end of the day it’s your work ethic that’ll keep your job in place and it makes the whole team better by pushing the Bar of expectation further!
This is a hidden 💎 AND it’s why some teams never turn the corner. Guys are hoarding knowledge in FEAR. Teach your teammate that spin move you know. Show your brother how to perfect that step back 3. Show that new employee the ropes. That love for others.

Go through the list of people Tom's played with. Hell one of his backups is a current NFL HC. Fred was one of his RBs for like 2 years in NE. That's the same amount of time as every RB in Tampa. But I guarantee Tom ain't jumping on their shows. Tom's knows half of everyone the NFL personally, doesn't mean he's showing up to do all their shit. He ain't boys with none of these dudes. He's boys with Gronk, and Edelman, and even Edelamn is having a hard time him getting Tom on his podcast.
