Whoever is writing the drumming for Breaking Benjamin has flawless taste. Sometimes less is more but sometimes more is more and this guy knows exactly when to do both.
I believe this is lost diary of Jane alternative version with the long ending. The producer came out saying that it exists and I believe Chad is playing to it!
2:37 to 2:45, just wow. I really miss Chad in Breaking Benjamin. Sean is very talented too, just not as groovy and playful as Chad was which is a shame. Ember will show how Shaun has grown.
I think he remembered the song! lol. and the outro was absolutely amazing! you would be hard pressed to find another drummer with this much dedication! ROCK ON CHAD!
I have to admit, I may be a fan of Shaun, but I totally agree to this. As stupid as this might sound, I wish the OG group with Mr. Szeliga would've stayed together. They were putting out some cool hits.
Aaron and Mark were kicked out for going behind Ben's back and signing a deal with the label for $100k that resulted in the Valora version of Blow Me Away. He took them to court.
Actually the drums were mostly written by Ben himself, Chad added his stuff here and there and inserted his drumming style. Jeremy Hummel (OG drummer) wrote most of his drum parts. Shaun writes his drum parts as well.
Shaun's old band is slightly different from Breaking Benjamin. They were more... heavier I guess. Shaun was also an independent drummer for some time I believe. He played with a lot of artists. It's cool to see him settle down in BB
Frank Fiorella Huh. I personally preferred the crisp funkrock feel of chad but it'll be interesting to see what Ben's going to make with this. BB all the way tho
It's because he plays it with one foot. He's probably using the heel-toe or the slide technique. /user/freedrumlessons have a few lessons on both of those techniques if you're interested in learning them. Cheers!
Dude sorry that i'm responding to your comment 1 year later, but i found out that, that is the single version of the diary of jane which was given to the radio stations to play before the albums release. The only difference to the other 2 version is that it has that cool outro at the end (:
The best BB drummer ever. Too bad he's not in BB anymore but the new guy still good, tho. For me, Chad is something else, very unique. Chad is, well, a chad.
Really impressive to do with one foot but not impossible, he might be using a slide technique. I use it a lot to for doing fast doubles. Still really impressive of him to pull it off like that!
I like the drumming in this song and his sound/style but how he played the extended ending was a bit annoying. He was just showing off, which is fine, but not when you're demonstrating a song. Just my opinion.
+NoobyDude I don't like covering songs which is why I would never be in BB. But you can find my drumming online. Check out the song Sixer under the band, The Beginning or anything under the band named Sixer. www.davekress.com. I wasn't cutting on him, just didn't like the showy stuff.

It would’ve been Chad 👍👍
I believe this is lost diary of Jane alternative version with the long ending. The producer came out saying that it exists and I believe Chad is playing to it!
Love those splashes 0:28 - 0:35 Dude, is super underrated IMO
+Pat Hadden super :(
1:39 always gets me. Yeah Chad is underrated and one of the best drummers out there
Yep it’s a shame he’s still not in Breaking Benjamin!
2:37 to 2:45, just wow. I really miss Chad in Breaking Benjamin. Sean is very talented too, just not as groovy and playful as Chad was which is a shame. Ember will show how Shaun has grown.
Yea I totally agree. Chad just has a more unique writing style. Two very good drummers
that bridge with the china and ride bell is pretty iconic lol. Every time a drummer hears it he wants to get behind his kit and play it :D
Except Shawn isn't talented. He's lazy, can't play the songs live and is a phony
I think he remembered the song! lol. and the outro was absolutely amazing! you would be hard pressed to find another drummer with this much dedication! ROCK ON CHAD!
We all know he is amazing. What lots of you don’t know is how nice a guy he is. He tolerated a lot, let’s put it that way. He’s so good; and so nice
By tolerated a lot you mean in the band?
Brilliant!!!
Wow this guy has perfect 90 degree angle posture. Sits up straight like an Asian kid doing a math test (his drumming is good too lol)
LOL yea he's great
Pah. My beer can do that - hold me.
He makes it easy to be played (:. For me the best on post-grunge style of rock
He fits the style very well. I'm unhappy he left Breaking Benjamin for BLS

Yeah bro! Me too! =/...
Sodes Jooe Subscribe to my channel if you want to!
Daniel Touw I'm already subs (:
I wish he would've stayed. No disrespect towards Shaun Foist though. Both are great drummers.
shust84 same here. Chad was a great loss to Breaking Benjamin. Plus he's the coolest guy on stage every time.
I totally agree! Shaun is a great drummer but Chad has something special and unique to his style.
I have to admit, I may be a fan of Shaun, but I totally agree to this. As stupid as this might sound, I wish the OG group with Mr. Szeliga would've stayed together. They were putting out some cool hits.

Szeliga and Foist are good. But I wish Szeliga could have stayed. He and Ben are my favorite members.
When I hear Shaun play I can’t help but think of Chad. I miss Chads style.
Mahesh Bhenchod I totally agree Shaun has mad skills but his writing style just isn't as unique as Chad. He was very underrated
Actually the drums were mostly written by Ben himself, Chad added his stuff here and there and inserted his drumming style. Jeremy Hummel (OG drummer) wrote most of his drum parts. Shaun writes his drum parts as well.
He's a monster on drums... O_o
Yea I totally agree. I'm kinda bummed they went with the drummer they didnt. Doesnt seem to even be on the same level as chad
Daniel T Shaun Foist is a fantastic drummer.
Frank Fiorella His kit feels a bit more upbeat rather than the suave hard hitting feel that Chad gives

That ending was the Sh!t. gave everything he got and more!!! lulz
You're the ROCK GOD!!! :D I LOVE YOU!!! :D
What's that outro from 3:07 and on? o_O never heard that
soo bad ass!!
I wonder if there's an extended outro version...
Took me 3 years to notice the man's playing double bass parts single pedal...holy shit
I didn't notice until I read this comment
at what minute? i can clearly see he uses double pedal
only during the guitar solo. all the kick drum fills during the verse are single pedal which is incredible
@@lorenzofatalo9783 throughout the video notice his left foot keeping time with the hihat and accenting certain licks or beats
i saw 3 empty seats..... thats too many people that arent witnessing such magical stuff from THE chad szeliga!!!!!
The best BB drummer ever. Too bad he's not in BB anymore but the new guy still good, tho. For me, Chad is something else, very unique. Chad is, well, a chad.
Exactly I wish Chad was in a band that was big or similar cause I would totally listen
@alonshott pretty sure thts just chad havin some fun
Still i can't understand how he plays that double bass fill in the verse keeping his hihat closed.
he does it with only one foot. check out the video of him breaking down the song in his clinic
foot work
Really impressive to do with one foot but not impossible, he might be using a slide technique. I use it a lot to for doing fast doubles. Still really impressive of him to pull it off like that!
wow at first i was like OMG WHERE IS HIS LEGS?
holy sheet
No, he doesn't actually play the pattern of three hits, he does a double, then a single, but it sounds like a triplet
I like the drumming in this song and his sound/style but how he played the extended ending was a bit annoying. He was just showing off, which is fine, but not when you're demonstrating a song. Just my opinion.
Lets see you try

David Kress he's putting on his own clinic. Feel free to extend your award winning songs during your clinics too.
