Mia, im so glad i found you! Si many nuggets of wisdom here. I turned 50 this year, i have been battling hoorible body image and disordered eating since i was 14. Ive had a few episodes of remission only to relapse deeper. No amount of CBT or DBT has helped. Im intelectually aware of the fact that my body is objectively fine, skender, athletic but i can't FEEL tgat way. Perimenopause has thrown me in a pit of hellish obsession with my weight, body shape and tge inflammation and water retention im experiencing as one of my main symptoms has absolutely taken over every minute of my thinking brain. I had always imagined that by that age i would be at peace, not that i would be worse off. .but im not giving up on myself.

I got covid in January was sick for almost 2 months. It was rough. Though your body not your best now but your body is giving you life and through all season of your life. You got to love all of them. I have MS and my body goes frail often but I try to love it all. It take some work and forgiving to yourself and our body.

Your b-limia photo video helped me recover. It snapped me out of it. I'm also struggling after having my first child five months ago with my alien-feeling body. I hope you are able to healthily cope with this. I'm doing talk therapy and not "intuitive eating" bc of my binging tendencies but mindfully making sure that I eat ENOUGH bc I've been desperate to restrict. Body neutrality is only so helpful so truly believing you're worthy of self love and doing what it takes to FEEL healthy and good is what it takes. At least for me. I'm sure you won't read this but I want to thank you from my heart and soul for that "photo" video. I never would have had my daughter, Roslyn, without your video. I doubt I'd even be here. Thank you.

I turned 30 recently, which is also a time where metabolic changes happen. I gained weight and was feeling insecure about it. I was so close to doing the "well, I guess I just have to eat a little less." Thankfully, I took stock and realized that comparing my 30 year old body to my 20 year old body isn't fair to myself. It's not always easy to extend that grace but always worth it.

I have never had an ED but have tried lots of non weight loss diets for health reasons . I have a brain tumour and was having kidney issues and then had an accident which needed as much nutrition as possible to recover soft tissue. . Aesthetically my body is fine, but more importantly, and unfortunately, it can no longer do what I had trained for my whole life ( fitness instructor) .I had to retrain and go to uni in my 40s, and the whole accident thing made me feel like I was failing. So I get it on a functional level. Especially as people can’t see my disabilities so assume I am fine. At most times I can’t do ordinary things like take the dog for a walk with my injuries. This is not to minimise anyone who is able bodied and suffering mental anxiety about aesthetics. Everything is relative

Thank you for this video. I also have endo and what you describe about your body changing constantly - I feel that. I have been recovering since 2016 from my ED and the bloating and inflammation, especially around ovulation and my period, are major triggers. I beat myself up, because of feeling that I never get out of my dysmorphia, but I think what you are saying about that bad body image days being a thing for everyone is helpful to remember.

11:48 I love this metaphor from her, I often use it to explain unhealthy coping mechanisms to people💙

Thank you so much for this video it was so helpful. I'm currently talking about "body scapegoating" with my dietician and therapist and trying to address the root of the problem when I feel the need to act on eating disorder behaviors.

Can't describe how much this video means to me. My body has recently changed to a shape that I find more pleasing and I still have bad body image days (had one yesterday actually). I notice now that my response to those days is different; I no longer spiral, I now try and figure out what I need -like, am I craving a particular food, do I need to do something creative, do I need to move my body in a way that makes me feel good. Rather than denying my needs in that moment. Before I started watching your videos, I don't think I had really considered that bad body image days were a fact of life, even for those who are dully recovered. There is another creator on TH-cam that I watch -they have a fitness platform so while I see their content as very unproblematic, I'm not sure that it's appropriate to name them here, but they also speak openly and often about how changing your body will not 'fix' your mental health and also the fact that they still experience bad body image days themselves... I'm so grateful there are content creators like them and yourself who are prepared to be brutally honest about this stuff. Hope you feel better soon ❤
