Take it for a good, long ride and let the ice and Simple Green scrub the tank out. On the stove, lift the stainless top and use a small screwdriver to run the pilot adjustment screw home. That will shut off the propane flow to the pilots and save you a few bux per fill on the propane tank... You'll have to use a stick type lighter to fire them up, though. Far as heat goes... The propane furnace is nice IF you need to run it... But I'd recommend picking up two if those old fashioned "Milk House" heaters... When you're camping with hookups, they work great and will chase you out of there if ya want them to. Far as the water heater goes... If it's toast, I'd recommend replacing it with a "marine" type unit... They heat either with 120v or from the heat generated through your engine/radiator... It'll heat your water (I'd say you could get away with an 11 gallon model) while you're running down the road, then you'd switch it to electric when you parked on the campground. Check the pumbing vent covers on the roof to fix the $ hit smell. Chased the same problem and that's what ended up fixing it. Somehow the air pressure at the end of the pipe when in motion sucked air up through the toilet, especially if the cabin windows were open.

Never tried it but this person did it regularly after a camping session. Hope that helps! enjoyed the video

My Father bought one brand new when I was a young boy. We broke down in the Smoky Mountains 🏔. Rear end went out, brakes caught on fire 🔥. Hell of a vacation.
Really funny! I had a 49 Olds I drove thru two winters without heat. Then, one spring I pulled a dash knob and it opened the vent to the heater. It was like a blast furnace! I feel your pain…
Hey man, This is the first video I watched of yours, just got recommended. Aand I gotta say I never skipped a second of this hour long video. I had a really stressful day and really just kinds helped me zone out for a bit. You guys are hella entertaining and I don't even know a single thing about cars lol.
Honestly after all the revivals I've seen y'all do..... This looks like the most fun. Just a group of friends workin' on old cars and trucks and camping... Keep up the great work Kevin!
I just rewatched, on video you never open the blackwater drain valve. Its the T handle silowetted when BraveDude is catching the drips. nomal process is attach the drain hose, open black water valve by pulling straight back. When solids drain open grey water valve by pulling out to the drivers side thus washing out the hose. Also put a couple bags of ice down the tiolet and the cubes will grind up the solids as you bounce down the road. Then wash the crap out with the water after melting. Good video though. thanks.
What's even funnier is have access to the internet at the touch of his fingertips and didn't look to see how to drain the black tank. I know from first hand experience to check someone put a second t valve on my trailer spent hours trying to drain the tank to no eval lol did some googling and figured it out.
Came down to the comments to see if anyone had already posted the ice down the pooper trick. Seriously, if you're about to hit the road in an rv/camper, throw a few bags down the toilet and let it slosh! Also: cheapest liquid fabric softener from the dollah store, put a few caps of that down the toilet. Source: Wife and I lived in a 40' 5'ver for a few years while we travelled for work.
23:10 I am pretty sure he did open the valve. You can see him pulling the valve and hearing some of the stuff drain out. If you pause it at 23:11 you can even see the grey water pipe and how it is in front on that vavle so when you are done dumping you then open the grey water to clean out the flexible waste pipe thing.
@@cbmadcow yup the bigger pipe (3 inch I think) goes to the black tank and the narrower pipe goes to the gray water tank. I bet if they'd just put some black water chemicals and a gallon of water in the tank after they drained it the smell wouldn't have been as bad, especially in cold weather
To help break up the poo you drop a back of ice down the shitter and drive around, when you drain the gray and black open both valves at the same time. That'll help drain all that feek!
Same! I am the odd one out in my family, 54 year old woman that loves doing what other call “guy stuff” sadly I am recovering from back surgery and a genetic illness so I’m about as useful as a baby duck.
Because carbon monoxide is slightly lighter than air and also because it may be found with warm, rising air, detectors should be placed on a wall about 5 feet above the floor. The detector may be placed on the ceiling. Do not place the detector right next to or over a fireplace or flame-producing appliance. Keep the detector out of the way of pets and children. Each floor needs a separate detector. If you are getting a single carbon monoxide detector, place it near the sleeping area and make certain the alarm is loud enough to wake you up.
What? Lol? Fireplace? Each floor? It’s an RV Clark! RVs they go in the entry way side wall or the kitchen cabinet side wall about 10-12 inches off the floor. Some will have a cut off to the LP so if they go off it kills the LP.

@@caseytbss Carbon Monoxide Detector Placement: High or Low? There’s a consensus among experts about which rooms to install carbon monoxide detectors; however, there’s debate over the ideal placement height. The short answer is that the placement height of carbon monoxide detectors does not matter because carbon monoxide spreads evenly (ceiling, middle, floor) throughout the air in a home. Some say detectors are more effective closer to the ground because they believe carbon monoxide is heavier than air; therefore, it concentrates low to the floor. Other experts recommend installing detectors high on the wall or on the ceiling because carbon monoxide is lighter than air and rises like smoke.
When I was a kid (late 80's) my family had an RV similar to that one, just slightly larger, and it ALWAYS had flat spots when we first started driving it, regardless of how new the tires were. When we sold it my dad would have to go drive it around for a bit to get the flat spots out before a potential buyer came to look at it lol
Put three to four gigantic bags of ice in black tank before a trip the sloshing will break up any clumps inside tank. Also add a gallon of a awesome to the tank fill up with water and let it sit for a cpl days then dump.
Try some waste terminator tablets in the tank of the motorhome . They break down the waste in the tank and help with the smell Enviromentally safe too.
Lots of good ideas for your new campers black tank. On the gray tank, it may just need a new gate valve. Other than that, what a honey hole of vehicles to revive!
All things considered that will be an awesome Rv when you’re done with it… I love the window in the above cab bed area… My husband and I just did our own Van conversion on a 2014 ram high top… so many people are getting into this area now because they’re tired of paying for hotels for vacation and they’re tired of high rent so they’re living in them… We are enjoying our van. Took our first vacation this past summer and it was amazing. We drove as long as we wanted and then stopped when we wanted. Love watching these videos…
Love it. The couch, Mook being quite disappointed but then involved with the loading, the ass sock, all is gold. Haven’t seen much of you channel of late, but love this one. Keep it up. You both have something that makes it enjoyable to watch. Rob, Tasmania, Australia 🇦🇺
CO Detectors should be at "breathing height" so four to six feet... yours is probably right on the bottom end of that. But they certainly do not go near the floor...

That it' forever floating around the internet to ambush some unsuspecting soul makes it even MORE epic. Thank you, I actually mean it, for giving this gem to the world. When my father finished something particularly difficult he would say, "That was harder than getting a fat girl into a wet t-shirt." While I guess I never fully understand the sentiment (it seems like it might be a lot more fun getting her OUT of that t-shirt), watching you squeeze that ugly ass couch into that clapped out camper is the epitome of dad's expression. Thanks for the belly laugh.
Love the video! I myself save vintage campers every possible time I can get. Most of my findings they have been sitting for years. Rat damaged, water damaged etc. I like the classic 70s Winnebago motorhomes with the Chrysler 413 big block. Normally I buy them sight unseen on Facebook marketplace. Then get them running and drive them back 300-500 miles back to my hometown. Everything possibly that can fail normally does. But I love the adventure!
Thank you Jesse, Angus and Kevin for an awesome video! Kevin you by far have some of the best content I've seen in a long time 👍 keep up the good work guys ☮️
I don't know why I was so opposed to Mook in the beginning. Every time she makes a comment or input of some sort it is absolute classic gold. "This is a terrible idea" I am so glad she didn't say ideal. Kevin: "Look we have a free couch for the camper." Mook: "Muhhhh!" In gag reflex mode. Gold I tell YA! If you had more prep time to get the camper ready it would have been much more pleasant I sure. By now you have done the enzyme thing and cleaned it out. I'm curious as to how you organized the car yard. Wondering about the return trip?
What a great video! I would lose my ever loving mind finding all that great stuff in those sheds and inside those cars. Just the cars and trucks alone are enough to make your brain explode. The models, too, are quite the find. I hope you spend more time out there. What a great series.
My Husband & I just purchased a 1989 Mini Winnebago. They are a lot of work, but because we are buying our first RV all 26 feet of it. We started fixing it up since the day we purchased. It’s definitely like a house or boat. You never run out of projects and things to do. But a few Hundred Dollars & a lot of DIY. We have resealed all the windows, put in a new subfloor & installing new flooring. Replaced the Queen Size Mattress, and many, many, many more. It’s really starting to look great 👍. I hope we can use it soon. I REALLY HOPE GAS PRICES STOP 🛑 GOING UP, UP, & UP. IT’S CRAZY HOW FAST & HOW MUCH THEY HAVE GONE UP..:(. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR RV. MAAKE SURE WE HAVE BEFORE & AFTER.
Laughed so hard, this is something my dad would do, my poor mom, us kids would complain and be embarrased but would have a ton of fun! We had a whole camping property full of my dad 's great ideas. Brother couldn't wait to sell it when he passed and I had to go one last time to visit and relive some of those childhood memories.
I think there is probably something badly wrong with all of you. It makes me feel privileged to be one of your subscribers. This is clearly the best video you have ever done and I can't wait to see the follow-up videos. I am glad that I couldn't smell the camper. I can certainly imagine what it must have smelled like.
Your comment made me laugh. I have Jesse's sleeping bag laying here to be washed, and now that I saw the video I think I should use a little extra soap! LOL. I was also thankful that we could not smell the experience through the video. Thank you for supporting the boys. ---Junkyard Mom

My grandpa used to keep corn cobs in the trunk for several uses. If stuck he chuck em under the tires,. If he needed hose plug the could be shaved down easily. If stranded on side of road in cold he would start fires with em.
If you looking for heaters for the camper I’d recommend getting a couple decent infrared heaters. Depending on what kind you get they won’t necessarily heat things up fast per say but they do a good job of maintaining temp once you get it to where you want and don’t draw an insane amount of electric like most other heaters which is why they work great in a camper. I even use them in my house to keep my furnace from running because they draw so little power. Mine are essentially knockoff Eden Pure.
Hey Kevin, I'd love to hear this with an aftermarket exhaust. Nothing else, just that. Would confuse the hell out of people, hearing this roaring outta-my-way engine but only seeing a beat-up old camper nearby.
Kevin and the rest of the JYD family: I have subscriptions to TH-cam TV, Netflix, Hulu, Disney +, MotorTrend, and subscribed to at least a few dozen TH-cam channels. Hundreds of thousands of hours worth of media and yet when I get a notification that a new episode of JYD is uploaded, it's my "go to" nearly every time. The content is great. Doesn't need to change, doesn't need to evolve. Don't need to work yourself to death to get it put up though either. Always worth the wait. Keep up the great work.
Great fixer upper. One thing I noticed is the ceiling has ripples in it. So you have a leak in your roof. It's been leaking for a while. Get on that before it get too much mold. Love your vids.
As a person who lived out of an old 86 14 foot travel trailer, I know the exact pain that comes with moving larger then will fit right items in small doors
Viva la $500 RV!!! Cousin Eddie would be proud! Great vid, guys. At the 36 minute mark, I see that you discovered Mike Ehrmantraut's Chrysler New Yorker. At the 36.40 minute mark, just spray paint that hat black, don it and name yourself "Heisenberg". Just an idea about where the smell might be coming from: the sink and shower drain traps. If they are dry, they will let the smell from the holding tanks into the RV. Gray water is VERY foul smelling, can be as bad or worse than the black water. Keeping the traps full of either water or RV antifreeze will stop the smell. Another trick is to make sure there is about an inch of water or RV antifreeze above the slide flushing mechanism in the toilet.
Cool video. As far as mitigating the sewage smell until you can get it properly sorted, and assuming the gasket around the waste ball is still functionally intact, add enough water to the toilet to cover the waste opening. If it will hold water in, it should keep the stink trapped.
Then you have to buy chemical to leave overnight in the toilet, to clear the sludge. I had to do that in my toilet at home. You just have to do that from time to time!
I have this same exact camper bought it for 800 buck's, in a lot better condition than this one with 40k miles. Haven't started painting or fixing anything yet, it does run like a champ though. I'll probably start working on it this spring, after I finish getting my motorcycle painted and tuned. I drove it 3 hours home and was told to only use diesel, it wasn't cheap but part of the reason why is because it's been sitting/hasn't been driven in 8 years, and could use a tune-up bad. Overall I'm satisfied with the purchase
Kevin, get two 6V golf cart batteries and run them in series. You'll get a longer life before you need to recharge.. Thanks for the videos bud, keep it up!
I traded for a 1970 - 23 foot Dodge Wolverine rv. Got rid of or sold most of my material things and took off from Traverse city Michigan area to Montana with my 2 cats and 2 dogs a few weeks later. My Odometer and gas gauge don’t work either so that made the trip a little exciting. I just topped off at the gas station every two hours on the way here and used an odometer phone app to let me know my speed. 😆😁I use a buddy propane heater also and love it. I am currently living on a friends property right next to a huge lake and mountains surrounding me😍💙⛰ Montana is heaven on earth! Love your video!
I would have loved to spend a few days like that. I hope a shower was available though, especially sleeping in close quarters after several days of hard, filthy work.
Trying to light the pilot light of a water tank made me laugh way more than it should 😂 definitely something I’d do, except gas supplies and pilot lights scare me!
Great episode - I LOL’d several times, thank you. The camper was a good score, it looks so solid! I thought of the air fresheners at the start, was yelling for you to hit O’Reilleys for a bunch of air freshener 5 packs. Looking forward to the several upcoming episodes.
I would love to buy piece of property like that... Sorting through all of that stuff would never get old Ive got to imagine if you left that valve partially open, things wouldve eventually 'leaked' out...
Big Buddy heaters are hot and efficient with large propane tank adapter are good especially if you get a fan to circulate the heat. But you'd want to take shifts watching it you don't want to go to sleep with the heat on so you don't get a fire.
I laughed so hard at you guys! Kevin, when you and Mook were getting that couch and when you wrangled it in the camper I laughed out loud! Thanks so much, I needed it.
I am a multi-millionaire but I'm a minimalist at heart I really enjoyed this video. I used to spend $50,000 a year on property taxes alone . I'm so sick of that s***

"Chain" might not necessarily have referred to kinky sex; it could have meant an engine timing-chain, tire chain for snow, or a safety-chain for the door so that it could have been opened slightly to see and speak with whoever was outside before opening it all the way. Maybe a towing-chain, too.
To suck out the poop 💩 you can call a septic tank company and they usually have a vacuum for the tank and it’s $50 usually then dump sanitizer for tank and ya change the filters on air conditioner should be good
I had one of these in the 80's! It was great when it was new! The only problem I had was the water lines broke going over the seriously bumpy dirt road to Apache Lake, AZ! Flooded the entire floor in back.

Seriously, great episode. Really enjoyed this one. Looking forward to see more of the cars there.
I love it when he touches the little windmill thing & it falls to pieces. ROFL.
Absolutely loved this one. That camper seems to have rock solid bones, seems like a great candidate for a mild renovation.
Honestly after all the revivals I've seen y'all do..... This looks like the most fun. Just a group of friends workin' on old cars and trucks and camping... Keep up the great work Kevin!
That whole property is so awesome! I would absolutely love to dig through that 80s building/warehouse thing!
This was the best content your channel has had out in a while. Definitely would like to see more of this camper and the property.
Avid camper here. Thanks for the idea. I like it.
It's always a good day when junkyard diggs posts. This is helping me get through my engineering exams with my sanity thanks man.

@@caseytbss General statement. Some people that watched this video live in regular houses too.
Digs will henceforth live rent-free in my head with the name "SockButt".
So sayeth Empress Mook. Long may she reign.

I'm 20 mins into video right now and am absolutely loving it. I hope I find more videos like this from him
CO Detectors should be at "breathing height" so four to six feet... yours is probably right on the bottom end of that. But they certainly do not go near the floor...
I love Mook's withering looks when Kevin does something silly.
it's like 2 old guys trying to do trampoline tricks like when they were 20. Yo WANT to look away but... you CAN'T. That it' forever floating around the internet to ambush some unsuspecting soul makes it even MORE epic. Thank you, I actually mean it, for giving this gem to the world. God bless and keep'em coming. ☺️
"Do you even know what perfect means?"
You should ask if you can take ownership of the velour steering wheel cover mountain & install one on every revival you do for the next year or so...
Kevin! your content is *only* getting better, after each and every video! Great job TEAM!
Yeah it is some good content with the shead full of cars

Oh my God, her reaction to the couch was epic! SHE is definitely the voice of reason!
Please keep and fancy-up this camper! The body and frame are too gemmy to toss away; this could be an awesome long-term project.
Looking forward to the hoard of revivals!
Not bad for 500. What’s gonna happen? Hopefully nothing bad! So surprised how clean it was underneath! Thanks Jesse and angus!
Hey Kevin this is the most epic revival ever! hope you Angus and Jessie stayed warm in that mobile poophouse Looking forward to your next video! Epic!
I have to say this is one of your most entertaining videos yet. The couch acquisition with Mook was golden.
I’m not sure I’ve looked forward to a series more than this in a long time. This is gonna be AWESOME!
Kevin - "It fits!" (Jacket)
Angus - "Must have been his wife's."
😂
How many of us watching would have just enjoyed hanging out with them around the fire to see what debauchery unfolded?
Dude right!
That’s well worth restoring . Not a bad purchase price . The good thing is you can make it your own the way you want it .
Sorting through all of that stuff would never get old
Ive got to imagine if you left that valve partially open, things wouldve eventually 'leaked' out...

"Chain" might not necessarily have referred to kinky sex; it could have meant an engine timing-chain, tire chain for snow, or a safety-chain for the door so that it could have been opened slightly to see and speak with whoever was outside before opening it all the way. Maybe a towing-chain, too.
To suck out the poop 💩 you can call a septic tank company and they usually have a vacuum for the tank and it’s $50 usually then dump sanitizer for tank and ya change the filters on air conditioner should be good
Vent is probably clogged, and you probably pulled the valve for grey tank instead of the black tank.
I had one of these in the 80's! It was great when it was new! The only problem I had was the water lines broke going over the seriously bumpy dirt road to Apache Lake, AZ! Flooded the entire floor in back.
I definitely love and appreciate the fact that Angus is familiar with the 3 speed/single aspect of the old school Schwinn/"3 in the tree" bicycle 😍
Honestly I love the premise of this I really hope you go back there many more times even though I'm sure you don't there is enough stuff there to provide content like this for a long long time to come just keep going down there no tools no supplies get the camper to be niceish cuz this is awesome
