My wife and I have rv'd for years... That one you bought is actually in really decent shape for the price you paid!
A couple tips you might be able to use-
THE DREADED POOP PYRAMID...For the waste tank, try dumping 2 gallons of Simple Green and several bags of ice in it... Take it for a good, long ride and let the ice and Simple Green scrub the tank out.
On the stove, lift the stainless top and use a small screwdriver to run the pilot adjustment screw home. That will shut off the propane flow to the pilots and save you a few bux per fill on the propane tank... You'll have to use a stick type lighter to fire them up, though.
Far as heat goes... The propane furnace is nice IF you need to run it... But I'd recommend picking up two if those old fashioned "Milk House" heaters... When you're camping with hookups, they work great and will chase you out of there if ya want them to.
Far as the water heater goes... If it's toast, I'd recommend replacing it with a "marine" type unit... They heat either with 120v or from the heat generated through your engine/radiator...
It'll heat your water (I'd say you could get away with an 11 gallon model) while you're running down the road, then you'd switch it to electric when you parked on the campground.
I hope you might get a little bit out of these tips...
    Cheers!

Here's an RV hint which many people are never told about:
Always leave about 1/2" of water in the toilet bowl between uses, enough to cover the opening and the seal.
This will (a) keep the opening secured to prevent tank gases from leaching up into the cabin, (b) keep the seal from drying out, and (c) keep routine bowl cleaning easier because there's something in the base before the next "deposit".

Kevin, if you see this, from a veteran full time RV owner. Reflectix or old moving blankets are your best friend in winter. The cab is major in heat loss, stick a moving blanket over the opening. Heavy duty Velcro works awesome for the reflectix. Hope this helps, and happy camping

Check the pumbing vent covers on the roof to fix the $ hit smell. Chased the same problem and that's what ended up fixing it. Somehow the air pressure at the end of the pipe when in motion sucked air up through the toilet, especially if the cabin windows were open.

when driving down the road, air can be forced down the vent stack from the roof into the holding tank forcing the smell up thru the toilet and all of the drain vents. Maybe you could modify the roof vent to not be a scoop or even stuff a shop rag in it while driving?

I don't think you could ignite something with them even if you threw a blanket over the top. Probably if you had a 2nd one and ran them both on medium, it wouldn't overload the electrical and would heat the place much better.

Its the T handle silowetted when BraveDude is catching the drips. nomal process is attach the drain hose, open black water valve by pulling straight back. When solids drain open grey water valve by pulling out to the drivers side thus washing out the hose. Also put a couple bags of ice down the tiolet and the cubes will grind up the solids as you bounce down the road. Then wash the crap out with the water after melting. Good video though. thanks.

Because carbon monoxide is slightly lighter than air and also because it may be found with warm, rising air, detectors should be placed on a wall about 5 feet above the floor. The detector may be placed on the ceiling. Do not place the detector right next to or over a fireplace or flame-producing appliance. Keep the detector out of the way of pets and children. Each floor needs a separate detector. If you are getting a single carbon monoxide detector, place it near the sleeping area and make certain the alarm is loud enough to wake you up.

There’s a consensus among experts about which rooms to install carbon monoxide detectors; however, there’s debate over the ideal placement height. The short answer is that the placement height of carbon monoxide detectors does not matter because carbon monoxide spreads evenly (ceiling, middle, floor) throughout the air in a home.
Some say detectors are more effective closer to the ground because they believe carbon monoxide is heavier than air; therefore, it concentrates low to the floor. Other experts recommend installing detectors high on the wall or on the ceiling because carbon monoxide is lighter than air and rises like smoke.

My grandpa used to keep corn cobs in the trunk for several uses. If stuck he chuck em under the tires,. If he needed hose plug the could be shaved down easily. If stranded on side of road in cold he would start fires with em.

"Chain" might not necessarily have referred to kinky sex; it could have meant an engine timing-chain, tire chain for snow, or a safety-chain for the door so that it could have been opened slightly to see and speak with whoever was outside before opening it all the way. Maybe a towing-chain, too.

All things considered that will be an awesome Rv when you’re done with it… I love the window in the above cab bed area… My husband and I just did our own Van conversion on a 2014 ram high top… so many people are getting into this area now because they’re tired of paying for hotels for vacation and they’re tired of high rent so they’re living in them… We are enjoying our van. Took our first vacation this past summer and it was amazing. We drove as long as we wanted and then stopped when we wanted. Love watching these videos…

I don't know why I was so opposed to Mook in the beginning. Every time she makes a comment or input of some sort it is absolute classic gold. "This is a terrible idea" I am so glad she didn't say ideal. Kevin: "Look we have a free couch for the camper." Mook: "Muhhhh!" In gag reflex mode. Gold I tell YA! If you had more prep time to get the camper ready it would have been much more pleasant I sure. By now you have done the enzyme thing and cleaned it out. I'm curious as to how you organized the car yard. Wondering about the return trip?

Love the video! I myself save vintage campers every possible time I can get. Most of my findings they have been sitting for years. Rat damaged, water damaged etc. I like the classic 70s Winnebago motorhomes with the Chrysler 413 big block. Normally I buy them sight unseen on Facebook marketplace. Then get them running and drive them back 300-500 miles back to my hometown. Everything possibly that can fail normally does. But I love the adventure!

If you looking for heaters for the camper I’d recommend getting a couple decent infrared heaters. Depending on what kind you get they won’t necessarily heat things up fast per say but they do a good job of maintaining temp once you get it to where you want and don’t draw an insane amount of electric like most other heaters which is why they work great in a camper. I even use them in my house to keep my furnace from running because they draw so little power. Mine are essentially knockoff Eden Pure.

I have this same exact camper bought it for 800 buck's, in a lot better condition than this one with 40k miles.
Haven't started painting or fixing anything yet, it does run like a champ though.
I'll probably start working on it this spring, after I finish getting my motorcycle painted and tuned.
I drove it 3 hours home and was told to only use diesel, it wasn't cheap but part of the reason why is because it's been sitting/hasn't been driven in 8 years, and could use a tune-up bad.
Overall I'm satisfied with the purchase

Cool video. As far as mitigating the sewage smell until you can get it properly sorted, and assuming the gasket around the waste ball is still functionally intact, add enough water to the toilet to cover the waste opening. If it will hold water in, it should keep the stink trapped.

*You know you can dump one of those big bottles of Dawn Dishwashing liquid in the black tank then go to lowes and buy a couple bottles of ZEP CItrus degreaser, and if you can find any a box of 20 mule team BORAX( water softener detergent ) put them all in the tank and fill it up with water and let it sit for a couple days. Drive the camper around a bit after putting all of that in the toilet then install your hose at your nearest truck stop that has a sewage dump and let it all flow gracefully out to become someone else's problem. THEN add another jug of Zep Citrus in the tank and just let it stay in there if you never plan to use that part of the camper again. if you do, add a couple gallons of Zep citrus and fill the tank to half full and just let it sit then drive it around for a while and go dump again. This is the safest, most sanitary thing to do to clean out the tank and get rid of the smell. They also make a cleaning wand that you can hook to a garden hose and put it down the toilet to blast all of the poop pyramids out of the tank which will also get rid of both the poop and the smell. once you have that all cleaned out, i would upgrade the toilet in there because obviously that one does not have a valve in it that closes to keep the smell from permiating into the living area. all newer RV toilets have either a cartridge in them that a valve opens and closes on or at the very least a flap or valve that closes to keep the smell where it belongs* I live in an RV and have for over a year now. those cleansers and cleaning methods are what i use to keep mine from backing up or stinking. and i drain my tanks every 2-3 days into a septic tank on my property that helps tremendously also. i'm thinking due to the age of your rig that it doesn't have the black water clean out line that most of the newer ones do if you do it will be an extra hose fitting that goes into your black tank that you can hook to and it will blow the solids out for you but you have to run the clean out with the tank open and draining into either a sewer or septic tank.
