    The Dodge Charger also known as Dodge Charger (B-body) is a mid-size automobile that was produced by Dodge from 1966 to 1978, and was based on the Chrysler B platform.
    The 1969 model year brought few modifications. Exterior changes included a new grille with a center divider and new longitudinal taillights, both designed by Harvey J. Winn. A new trim line called the Special Edition (SE) was added. This could be available by itself or together with the R/T, thus making an R/T-SE. The SE added leather inserts to the front seats only, chrome rocker moldings, a wood grain steering wheel, and wood grain inserts on the instrument panel. A sunroof was added to the option list, but was ordered on only 260 Chargers. The bumble bee stripes returned as well, but were changed slightly. Instead of four stripes, it now consisted of a wide stripe framed by two smaller stripes. In the middle of the stripe, an R/T cutout was placed. If the stripe was deleted, a metal R/T emblem was placed where the R/T cutout was. Total production was around 89,199 units.
    There were two different 383 engines available for the 1969 model year: 2-barrel and 4-barrel. The 2-barrel was rated at 290 hp. The four barrel engine was rated at 330 hp and was identified on the air cleaner as "383 / FOUR BARREL". The 330-hp engine was unique to the Charger model in 1969. While this engine was available with an un-silenced air cleaner option, it differed internally from the 335-hp 383 "Magnum". Differences between the 330-hp 383 4-barrel and 335-hp 383 magnum were mostly internal. Both versions used the Carter AVS carb and the larger exhaust manifolds from the 440 Magnum engines, but the Magnum had a windage tray in the oil pan, a different camshaft profile, and different valve springs. In 1969 the B-series engines were all painted Chrysler Engine Turquoise with the exception of the 4-barrel 383 four speed and 440 Magnum engines which were painted Chrysler "High-Performance Orange". As usual, the 426 Hemi was painted "Street Hemi Orange". The 383 Magnum motor was used in Road Runners and Super Bees, but did not appear in a Charger body until 1971.
    Bo & Luke Duke popularized the 1969 Charger in The Dukes of Hazzard
    The television series The Dukes of Hazzard (1979-1985).
    Funny Car is a type of drag racing vehicle and a specific racing class in organized drag racing. Funny cars are characterized by having tilt-up fiberglass or carbon fiber automotive bodies over a custom-fabricated chassis, giving them an appearance vaguely approximating manufacturers' showroom models. They also have the engine placed in front of the driver, as opposed to dragsters, which place it behind the driver.
    In the 1970s, then current models such as the Chevrolet Vega or Plymouth Barracuda were often represented as funny cars, and the bodies represented the Big Three of General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler.[2] Currently, four manufacturers are represented in National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Funny Car - Chevrolet with the Camaro,[3] Dodge with the Charger,[4] Ford with the Mustang,[5] and Toyota with the Camry.

    I made a Funny car model as a Kid a loooong time ago. I experimented with spray paint. Front was Yellow faded to Orange and then to Red. Modeling is getting one to be creative to matter what the results other than to have Fun.

    I've never seen one of these funny car kits that didn't need some modification for the correct stance and body fit , even on 1/16 kits with rear axle mounts and such, but look much more realistic when the effort is made.

    • @davidwillis3913
      @davidwillis3913 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's the whole point for me, the challenge of figuring out how to lower your stance or build your fantasy version. Right now I'm building the "color me gone" kit 90's edition and it is missing a few parts and there was some damage to repair. For my return to the hobby, I'm having a blast.

    Can t tell you what the fit pro lem is, Chris -- I can't see how you did anything wrong. The body sits too high off the chassis -- should be snugged down right over the tires. But the blower scoop is up tight against its metal panel so no spare space there. And that windshield . . .
    Build the chassis, build the body, paint it all, then fit it together. But it's too late to find the trouble.
    I would build the basic chassis then the body and ensure it fits properly. Then adding the driver's compartment, engine, and accessories while adjusting everything should eliminate the proble.
    It's a great kit. I think changing the assembly order and constantly trial fitting should make it fit better.
    Cheers!

    im building this one now......that chassis is "fiddly" and thank you for showing how that rear bulkhead goes in and how the interior panels all go together....the instruction are very unclear on that as you stated....edit: also, the electrical tape tip for the blower belt is genious....mine snapped trying to stretch it around the pulley system and actually the tape looks better I think....thank you.

    Greetings, I watched this build several times since I am working on this kit. I have a question for you regarding the motor. Did you encounter the oil pan over extending the length of the motor? In my kit the oil pan seems like it is to big length wise for the motor. I would appreciate any feedback. Thank you for your time and consideration.

    First time for me to see a model that actually has a "real" belt go over the front of the engine. I do like your alternative method. That works. After building several car models where the belts are molded in styrene and which do leave a lot to be desired imho, this is exactly what I would want to see in all car models myself. Why not? I am greatly encouraged by your demo of putting the decals on not to mention the revisit of the future floor polish not messing with the windows when you paint it over them. Personally I've been a little wary of that but as you've demonstrated it works out just fine. Very cool and as always, nice work. Have a nice Christmas and New years celebration. I think Santa is bringing me some nice kits to build this year.... even though I haven't been all that good. Just not naughty hehe. Meng 1/24 Ford GT40 here I come.... yeah, I peaked... Merry Christmas!

    Nice build as always my friend!! But I got a question... the box art shows the dash area totally different from the model or did I miss something in your build?

    • @peghead
      @peghead ปีที่แล้ว

      If I may put in my two cents. Some funny cars of that era did not use the air scoop but just an air tunnel opening in the windshield, some as the box art shows, not only didn't use the blower scoop but didn't even have an opening in the windshield. If you look at late 60's funny cars, you'll see examples. I don't know why, you'd have to ask a vintage funny car expert. The body front is not sitting down enough on the finished model and it appears the scoop may be the culprit.
