    1. Grab and activate elder power

    One thing that I don't recall being mentioned is that you should remember to save the seeds from normal tree harvesting or its going to be hard to start a tree farm. A lot of people just toss those thing out when they find them in their inventory.

    A tree farm is best made right next to your starting spawn location. Once you defeat the elder you can use his power to chop the wood even faster. Mine is slightly bigger and in 1 haul I can fill about 2 normal chests of wood. You don't really need a slope, but it is handy. I also recommend digging it out, instead of building up the walls. It goes way faster, it's easier to make the different height levels and it gets you some stone, instead of having to spend it. Portal from there to your base (I dug a pit and I need a stairs to get in and out, so I built my portal underneath that stairs with a wall to protect it) and you can just fill up inventory and walk through the portal and just dump everything on a cart.

  • @Andrewtr6
    @Andrewtr6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    For normal wood, it would just be easier to turn a greydwarf spawner into a farm. For fine and core wood, this would make a nice farm. It's just hard to get enough seeds to keep it going. Personally, I want to automate it further by trapping a troll.

I think I'll now try this and instead of chopping the trees, I'll lead some loxes nearby to the top (could also be an additional row there I think) with a bow and do my "lox-farming" (similar to using trolls but I find loxes to be more controllable) up there. I don't really see the point if you have to harvest the stumps, as that is just a frustrating and time consuming job. I tend to chop the small trees as I roam about and never really have a shortage of wood. How can you possibly need more than like 5k wood. That is usually what I end up using on a structure and wooden fenced compound. Every time I return to my base, I normally have around 100 wood, just depends on inventory space, so it adds up quickly.
    Wouldn't it be more practical to do this for pine, if you wanted core wood to build with?

    Cutting down a tree takes like 20s (no buff), that means 3 trees per minute. That means in the hour it took you to build that thing I already cut down 180 trees. Then the time you save (neglecting replanting) is actually only 15s per tree if we assume that all trees completely turn into wood cause you need to remove the stem. Also you need like at least 10 trees where you only save 10s since they start the domino effect, again assuming they all completely turn into wood which is doubtful. So in the end you need like 2h to catch up to a guy simply cutting down trees in a forest or planting them loosely on a meadow. Only after two hours you are marginally faster with this method...

    You can clone all items, including wood by simply deciding on what you want to clone, putting it on yourself and then waiting for night to come or choosing what to clone at night. After you do so delete all save backups and then sleep. After that place all items from you into cloning chest or their respectful chest, go back to menu and reload last new save that will show. Now you will have items from you in the chest and also on you meaning cloning was successful. Saves up a lot of farming. The more you have the less repetitions you have to do.
    Edit: Character save has to be reloaded not the world save, keep in mind character wont impact world in any way except that all exploration after cloning will be lost if you decide to clone again using that save, so dont clone same save two times or clone it only if no other game progress aka exploration is made.

      If you go that far into cheating territory, you might as well just spawn stuff in using commands.

    It isn’t strictly necessary to cultivate the land. Saplings can be planted and grown on grass and regular dirt as well. At this point cultivating the land for a tree farm is purely aesthetics.

      I think cultivating the land does increase the speed in which saplings grow. but I may be mistaken

    Alternatively, the greydwarf spawn farm does the same thing while afk.

    Trees do not need to be on cultivated land like other plants we have access to. Just a fyi.

      Yes - But they do grow faster when placed on cultivated land - if I'm correct.
