    CB150X update:
    I just came back from 1750 km, 6 day trip around north Sumatra in Indonesia. I loved this bike on this trip. I am about 75 kg, had 20 or so kg of luggage on the back. Stock suspension was good, zero complaints. The bike is comfortable, the wind protection is ok, I could tuck in and hide from small rain and cooler wind. The roads were always curving, so my speed varied from 25 to 60 km accelerating around corners and such. The bike delivers very good acceleration at these speeds, it was mostly 3rd, 4th and 5th gear from around 5000 rpm to 9000. Few times riding at fester speeds, the acceleration drops off, but after all it's a 150cc bike. I took the bike on some dirt and rocky roads as well, with my "adventure" tires (Swallow SB117) no problems, my friend on CRF 150 went little faster on these roads, but not by much. back on the paved roads, he was lot less comfortable.
    Bike issues, the side stand is stupid short, with luggage the bike wanted to fall over, center stand was used. I am 178 cm tall, when standing up the handle bar is little low, getting bar risers. On same note, in dirt standing up, the rubber foot pegs are too slippery and narrow. I will get some wider steel foot pegs. That's it, I was happy to be on the CBX on this trip.
    On these tight roads, the bigger 16 tooth sprocket was not required, but back home on straight roads it works out well. The Japanese RK chain did not stretched at all, perfect. Finally after 1750 km of fun, "hard" riding, always changing gears, the oil came out dirty, so if you like your engine change it every 2000 km or so.
    This bike was the "best" bike for this trip in my opinion. On more open, better surface roads, something like the Versys 250 might have had bit of an advantage due to the power output. On this trip, the lower speeds, the everchanging road conditions, the constant turns, the CBX rocked. My friend who has a GS 1150 in Europe also admitted that our 150 cc bikes were the perfect weapon and that he would not be able to keep up on his GS nor survive 8 hrs on these roads at out 150cc speeds.

    Spot on review, I have been riding my for two months here on Batam (30 mill). The engine is tractor like in comparison to my Yamaha MT15, but it does have bit more bottom torque which nice. There is no engine oil filter, just internal screen mesh.......not an ideal situation. At 200 km, it is very hard to find neutral at full stop. Yes the side stand is way too short, I lengthen my. I also geared up front sprocket, got good quality RK X ring chain and i think this bike is a bargain for what it is. If Yamaha makes a 155 Tracer, I might look at that, otherwise for our Indo roads the CB150X is a cool little bike.
    6 months update: With 2000 km on the clock, the bike has really grown on me. The neutral issue is 90% gone, the engine has broken in and is noticeably smoother. I now appreciate the lower RPM torque and simply don't try to rev the engine too high. With my 16T front sprocket 80 km/h happens at very reasonable 6000 RPM. The suspension is well dampened for my 75kgs with some gear even at quicker speeds on dirt roads and such. I swapped stock tires for Swallow SB117 "enduro" tires, they do ok in dirt/sand and are still smooth on the road. I also appreciate the light weight of the bike, I considered Versys 250, that bike is noticeably heavier and not as much fun when exploring "off road". As for power, it is just fine, would extra 5 hp help, maybe but then we would want 5 more.......I am super happy with this bike, hope this might help someone as there is not much info in English on this bike.

      Thank you for the nice comments. Please tell me how you lengthened your kick stand. I would like to do the same.
      I had the same problem with getting it into neutral for a while, but during my ride from Denpasar to Bromo, East Java, last week, The clutch cable became so loose it was almost unusable as I was navigating very heavy stop and go traffic up a steep hill at 4:00 in the morning. (We were on our way to watch the beautiful sunrise over Bromo volcano). One of the guys in our group had the proper tools to adjust my clutch cable for me. After he made the adjustment, I now find it very easy to put the bike in neutral with the engine running and at a full stop. You may want to try tightening your clutch cable. It sure made a big difference on my 150X.

      @@BuleJagterAdventures So my solution is very DIY, I shaped a block of wood and attached it to the bottom of the stand with two screws from the top, by drilling two small holes in the stand. Its working ok so far. The bottom of the block has a bit of an angle, as the side stand pad is not perfectly flat to the ground. Yes I have adjusted my clutch cable, but make sure you still have bit of free play at the leaver with the steering at full right/left turn. It's better yes, but my Yamaha is silky smooth in comparison. I cleaned my oil screen at 600 km, found some silicone gasket material on it. I also installed magnetic drain plug to help with the poor oil filtration system. Don't know if you know about these two local companies that make decent stuff. M15 Performance for racks and such, hope they make proper big foot ext for the cbx soon. 7Gear makes decent luggage/tank bags and such.

    • @BuleJagterAdventures
      @BuleJagterAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the info. I haven't heard of those two companies until you mentioned them. If you do hear of a replacement kickstand for our bike, send a message to my email from my channel. TH-cam doesn't notify us of replies to our comments. I have to search through them to see if there is a reply to an old comment and it's easy to miss one. I didn't see your last comment until 12 days after you posted it. I like the magnetic drain plug idea. I need to get one.

      By the way, I have two more CB 150X videos posted since this one. I just posted a video of my 754 km ride from Bali to Mt Bromo and back (it will have two parts to it. The first part will be visible today at 6:00pm (18:00) Bali time. Again, thanks for your information about potential oil filtration problems and the local companies fabricating aftermarket parts.

      I was hoping viewers would be longing to watch a review about the Cb 150X in English. I have another video about the Cb 150X on my channel from last February, and I will soon have more videos focusing on this motorcycle. I'm almost finished editing a video from a tour I took with a CB 150X riding club in Bali Indonesia. Hopefully it will be posted by this weekend. I'm also planning to ride the 150X from Bali to East Java in just a couple weeks. Hopefully I'll be able to make a good video from that adventure. If you haven't yet subscribed and clicked the notification button, you might want to do it now so you'll know when my other videos about the adventures I'm taking on the 150X are posted for public view. Thanks for watching Thien Ly.

    I learn more about motorbike from your video 😄 specifically this one! It's indeed comfortable for passenger, no sliding forward. And with the top box at the back, I could lean on it while in the traffic 😁 Although it is quite high to get on it for a petite girl, but with a sturdy man handling the bike, it is safe 😉 And on steep road (especially after rain), sometimes I feel worry if the front wheel would come off 😬. Looking fwd to riding with you again and seeing more videos from you, Greg 😘

    I really wished that they could have added the hazard signal and killswitch for the price. Same sentiments with the tire choice as well. Hopefully somebody makes a sturdier aftermarket bashplate for this thing too for more serious offroad use.

    • @BuleJagterAdventures
      @BuleJagterAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow! I left out the fact that there is no hazard signal. Thank you for bringing up that fact. No kill switch and no hazard switch is crazy. They should have been included as standard equipment. I haven't yet searched for a better aftermarket bashplate, but I'll bet somebody makes one. I know a place in Denpassr Bali that makes custom parts with a CNC machine. It's called Yuddie Motorsport. I'll mention more about them in my next motorcycle video. I'm sure they can custom make a bashplate for this bike.

    • @cgRui34
      @cgRui34 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BuleJagterAdventures yes, quite strange since they could've used the same switchgear on the CB500X which has both the kill switch and hazard switch and shouldn't considerably add to the price of the bike. This can probably be an aftermarket upgrade for the current CB150X and hopefully an addition to future versions of the model.

    My brother-in-law purchased this just recently and then sold it after 2 weeks, he said he liked it so much yet the power is not enough and it's all fairings with good inverted fork in front yet the power is not there. I'm from the Philippines btw

    • @BuleJagterAdventures
      @BuleJagterAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I understand and respect his decision to sell the bike. I feel the power is good enough for riding around in SE Asian traffic, but I want more power. If they put a larger engine in it, the price would go up a lot, and I'm certain this was developed and built for people who can't afford the more powerful Adv bikes. They already have the CB 500X. I really wanted the BMW G 310GS, but it's the equivalent of approximately 13,000 US dollars in Indonesia. The real problem with the cost of the bigger bikes comes from the taxes here, in Indonesia. I don't know how bad the taxes are in Philippines.

    I just pictured your bike in front of LaTorre and when I m looking for review about it, guess who I found 😁.
    My question is : where did you get that lower price ? Can’t find it under 34,5J .

    • @BuleJagterAdventures
      @BuleJagterAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was at La Torre in Canggu on Wednesday, helping with a video shoot for someone who's starting a new blog on several different media sources. Yes, that must have been my motorcycle you saw.
      I purchased it on 23 January, in Ubud Bali, from Made Ferry Honda. Perhaps the price has been raised a little bit since then. I believe all the Honda dealers sell the motorcycles for the same price. In fact, I've been told all the Honda dealerships and the Indonesian Honda manufacturer are owned by the same company even though they have several different names. I can't say that's a fact, but that's what I've been told.
      I don't know of any current Honda promotion to buy one of these models right now, but it's worth looking at the Astra Honda website and look for the area with promotions. I was lucky to purchase my 150X just before the 1 million rupiah in accessories promotion ended. Even if there aren't any promotion for that model now, 34,500,000 IDR is a good price for the bike. I say you should buy it. Then, join our CB 150X Adv ID Bali chapter. We go on rides all over Indonesia. I have two videos about the first two rides we've been on. Occasionally, Honda will sponsor the ride for us. When they do, they provide a special banner about the ride and they pay for all our food and drinks!

    In Vietnam foreigner are unable to own motorcycles legally without jumping through many hoops. Living in the Philippines now and honda is beginning to import the 500x which I am getting. I am 182 cm and 97 km so the 500x will be better. Would not have a European motorcycle as if needing repairs it parts or repairs needed you are sol.

    Great review!
    How do you feel about the lack of ABS on the bike? Do you feel like it's missing, or is it not really any issue on a bike of this power level/weight class?
    I've been looking at this one, as well as the CB190X/200X (same engine, just different name in different markets), and aside from the slightly bigger engine, the only real difference mechanically, is the ABS.

    • @BuleJagterAdventures
      @BuleJagterAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wish it had ABS, but I don't miss it much because I've never had a motorcycle with ABS. My understanding is, the CB 200X is the bike sold in India (maybe it's also available in other countries as well). I've read it's very different from the CB 150X. Based on what I read, the 150X is supposed to be a better bike but I can't say that for certain. The 200x has more power. The 200X is air cooled and has a 5 gear transmission, while the 150X is liquid cooled and has a 6 gear transmission. (This is based off what I've read, I'm not an expert on the 200X).
      The ground clearance of the 150X is superior at 181mm, while the 200X only has 167mm ground clearance. The tires on the 200X are wider and (I've read) a bit better for taking the bike on trails than the road tires which come standard on the 150X. (Of course wider isn't always better, but road tires on trails, dirt or sand isn't good)
      The LCD instrument cluster on the 150X includes average mileage shown, but the 200X does not.
      The 200X has a single channel ABS for the brakes as well as petal discs. The 150X has petal discs, but sadly, no ABS.
      The 150X has a better bash plate, but it's still a bit disappointing because I'm certain it's some form of plastic. I read about it from a motorcycle website, and they described it as a proper, full-sized, metallic brushed bash plate. While the CB200X is non-metallic and much smaller, but I certain my 150X bash plate is plastic.
      The 150x has an upswept exhaust which is much better for riding through a creek than the "stubby" exhaust on the 200X.
      It seems both models have pros and cons. I would say choose the model you prefer, but wherever the 150X is sold, the 200X is not sold, and vice versa. Perhaps some of the information I've found on the 200X is out of date, and this year is quickly coming to and end, so there may be improvements to next year's model (though I have not yet heard any rumors about any changes)

      @@BuleJagterAdventures I live in Japan, and the 150X and 190X (Chinese model from Wuyang Honda) are both sold here as parallel imports. The 150X seems to be the better deal, even without ABS, and your videos about it have me giving it a very serious look. Thanks!

      @BuleJagterAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WheresDrew I'm glad you've found it helpful. Is there much of a price difference between the 190X and the 150X in Japan? Is it possible for you to test ride both models? The 150cc engine is good enough for riding around Indonesia, but on steep hills, I definitely notice the lack of power. For the price, I love this bike, but I wish I could responsibly afford a more powerful motorcycle here. Though I could have purchased something like the 500X or the BMW G310 GS, it just wouldn't have been financially responsible for me.

    • @WheresDrew
      @WheresDrew 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BuleJagterAdventures the 190X is about ¥100,000 more depending on who’s selling it. Both bikes cost more here than in their home markets, which is to be expected. The 150X is about ¥450,000. Bit of a markup, but priced competitively with local bikes of a similar size. Domestically, there isn’t really anything like this under 200cc. There are a few at 249cc, but not from Honda. The smallest X model here is the 400.
      There is one shop that offers test rides of the 150X, so I’m definitely going to take them up on that.

    Hello, how would you rate the pillion comfort of the cb150x? I mostly ride two up, and would like to choose a bike with a good seat for my wife.
    If it's not up to snuff do you have any recommendations for a motorcycle with good pillion seats?

      Well, the seat has been a little disappointing to me. The good part is the passenger area. My passengers generally like the comfort. It does not lean forward, causing the passenger to constantly slide into the driver. The bad part about the seat is: the driver seat does tilt toward the tank. This causes a rocking forward motion in Your crotch. I find it to be very irritating, painful, and completely unnecessary. I purchased an MBTech after market seat for the bike a few months ago. It's just a little better, but it still causes the sane sliding forward movement as I ride. This MBTech seat uses the Honda 150X seat frame, and they add different cushion and cover. I wish they would have put more effort into the shape if the cushion. It just needs a little shaved off the back of the butt area. The part we sit on should be flat, not leaning one direction. I'm sure it can be remedied, but I have been unsuccessful in finding a sadel shop willing to modify the foam on the seat. They tell me it can't be done, but I know that's just laziness.

      Sorry, I'm not sure what your commenting on. The CB150X does not have ABS.

      Yes, when I purchased it, the price was 32,230,000 IDR, in Indonesia. I was told the price is higher now, but not too much
