  • Stucco is a cement-type mixture that is applied as a thin finish coat on the outside of homes and commercial structures. It has a complex texture that creates a field of peaks and valleys, which can be very challenging to apply an even coat of paint to. Follow along with the Idaho Painter and discover tips, tricks, techniques, and ideas to help you refresh your home's exterior and get your house looking brand new again!

    Much respect and thank you for the videos. Stucco is not too aggressive. Here in Az I would do it differently. Either tape and mask everything and angle down then spray angle up. Or roll back after a 515 tip spray. Save lots of time and paint vs multiple quick blimp on the gun. Just my take but either way job done right .

    Good job. How much did you charge for this job?

    Is it good to apply a primer first, or going straight to paint is just fine.

    One of your best videos with knowledge. Still, back rolling doesn't fill all the different angles in heavy textures, and can apply paint to thick imo loosing some of the texture attributes. Everything in Vegas is stucco so I i find hitting it with lighter tip at different angles works best.

    What about back rolling with a roller???

    I paint in Arizona where stucco has been the building material for ~40 years. In my experience you have to backroll stucco to cover the entirety of the jagged surface finish both for coverage and a uniform finish. I’ve met many painters from elsewhere who always claim that you don’t have to backroll. Painters don’t want to backroll because you have to work in close co-ordination with another guy as you move along the wall. All this nonsense fluffing about with the paint gun in this video, will likely create noticeable uneven spots and is nice for the TH-cam show, but little else!

    Have a stucco house and under one of the windows is a big ledge. I’ve heard it may be made of styrofoam? There is what looks like white stuff dripping from the bottom but I’m sure it’s dried. How to fix? Will repainting seal it?

    Just backroll. Do this technique if you are paid hourly.

    Is flat always the way to go with stucco and why wouldn't back rolling be the way to go to save paint?

    • @Idahopainter
      @Idahopainter  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I always use flat. If it has. been painted and back rolled before no need.

      @@Idahopainter okay. Thanks for all your advice. There is a chance in the future that I will be painting a 3 thousand square ft 4 Plex. So all your videos are very valuable.

    Hey Boss, that’s really unprofessional by stopping and spraying- not having a quicskshot and has extension will for sure leave it un evenly- and typical it won’t show that day but couple months it will
    Specifically how your spraying and spraying stops, spray stop extension will spit
