We make these videos to show those who may want to hire us that we do know what we are doing, so much so that we can be transparent in the applications via TH-cam. Thus, all can depend on us for sound advice and workmanship.
We were using regular Portland stucco mixed with three times the sand per every one part of the stucco. For example, for every one hundred pounds of cement stucco, 300 pounds of sand are added to the mix.
Or, for smaller jobs, buy "Rapid Set Stucco" from Home Depot or Lowes. It comes in ten or 25-pound boxes or 90-pound bags.
It has the sand already in the box or bag. You add water and apply.
It's very user-friendly and super strong. Read the label, as you don’t want to over-mix or play too much with it when applying.

My man is wearing a button down shirt doing stucco and comes out clean when he’s done. Absolutely amazing. You’re watching a Master at work
lol, man, I’m just trying to keep my skin from burning and blistering, the lye in stucco is no joke.
It's supposed to go on the house, not your shirt 😅

I don't know youtube put me here, but this man is a gem.
Man, I sho-nuff like your style, thank you.
You know a person loves their job, when they talk to it like if it was their gran-kid
Exzackory,
Not a painter. don’t want to paint. Not interested in ever painting - but I couldn’t stop watching. He seems to be a master of his craft and has a lot of earned knowledge he is just giving away here. What a solid dude.
Morning Carlos, man I like your style, thank you.
Grandfather was an old school Italian plasterer. He had a big brush like that. I still have his tools. I had no idea what the big brush was for. He refused to teach me the trade but put me through school with his trowel.
Thanks for keeping the trade alive
Frank
Perhaps he felt it was a hard trade, most people do. I’m the opposite, I fell it’s an honest trade that when mastered and understood can a good living, plus pay you to stay in shape.
Guys the total
Chad of plastering! Bless you sir!
Thank you
Dudes a master at his craft and you can tell by the way he talks about it
Ex -Zachary, thanks for the cool comment,
The day destroys the night and the night divides the day,
but Kirk will be there, "dashing" all the way.
(you make it look so easy)
Nailed it !!
It is so obvious Kirk knows what he talks about.
I enjoy watching his video tutorials alot.
Thank You
Thank you.my American friend.
Great job Kirk. These are exactly the type of small patches that I now do. I mainly do small-medium size drywall and interior plaster repair, but recently added a little exterior stucco to the mix (a lot of overlap). Your videos have been a huge help. If you ever turn on the "Super Thanks" option you got something coming from me. Thanks for everything Kirk. Really just wanted to stop in and say I appreciate you!
Howdy Big Daddy, no worries, we show how this is done to create confidence for all willing to at least give it a try. Thank you for the kind compliment.😉
“😊 Kirk’s the best!” Never gets old. - I was waiting for a union story when you were talking about the hopper. Ohhh when worked in unnnion 40 years ago! Great stuff mate.
lol, I poke the stucco as folks always think it’s hard as a rock, it’s never fully cured or I could not manipulate it. Folks need to know it’s still workable, the Kirk’s the best, is just a habit now.😉
Appreciate you Kirk, im a paint contractor by trade and started watching your videos anout 5 years ago and have gotten many more jobs by being able to do the patch and repair work along side with the exterior paint job
Cool beans Keith, that’s why we put these out there. Cheers.
I love this guy, I stumble accross his channel ever so often and my man brings life to doing stucco.
Howdy, man, I like your style.
Love it...seeing an experienced, skilled professional work is inspiring
Watching real craftsmen is fascinating. Thanks for the video!
Having my AM coffee here in NYC. Love it my man. Always a pleasure watching your videos. Stay safe my man.
I actually thought of you today. I live in a stucco house and have done work over the years and have viewed your videos for help. You seem to enjoy your work, and it's tough work, and it's just nice to see. I think you have helped many folks foir years and hope that feels good for you.
Kirk you sir are a treasure of knowledge
I wouldn’t go that far, bat thank you.
Thanks for another good "how-to".... BTW I love the morning glories on the rail beside your awesome family. Always enjoy your videos! 🙂

The Bob Ross of stucco!! Kirks the best and the Doors rule....... Awesome work Kirk!
Thank you, shes just another lost angel, LA woman. City of nights.
Awesome patch work sir 👍
You make this look easy. I had to help my dad patch two holes during the summer. Just carrying the buckets, the tools, the water, sweeping and cleaning up was enough for me. I knocked out as soon as I got back home.
Howdy Jesse, sometimes we get tired because of the work, but when also unsure of whats going on, this too can be exhausting.
I'm so glad I found you guys❤
it is really cool when someone is willing to share the knowledge they have, God bless you. Thanks for the video
Good explanation between a house primer and bonding agent. 👍🏽
We have been asked that question many times in the past, so the opportunity to explain it came in handy for the painters who want to know.😉

Haven't seen a new Kirk video for a while. I followed his instructions to stucco the 2nd floor of my house by myself. Turned out good from far, far from good.
Soon you will take my place and teach folks. It will get better.
Kirk, you are darn pretty good at this
Thank you, I live for this stuff. Cheers
@StuccoPlastering I am also a fan of your mannerism and how you speak. You are a character

Thanks for another lesson in stucco work Kirk. So much to learn, so little time. P.S. Jason, you're getting to Journeyman level camera work, probably should ask the boss for a raise!

Watched one of Kirk's vids on how to fix cracks. I live in Cali in a newer neighborhood and the stucco workmanship was horrible on almost every home. Before I put mine up for sale I fixed all of the cracks myself based on Kirk's vids. Not a single stucco issue on the buyers inspection report. Guy 4 houses down paid about $4k to have his fixed so he could close.
Good morning, Jason, congratulations for taking the time to watch, retain then apply the technics. All folks can depend on us for sound advice.😉
Great video once again, Kirk and family! I made progress on my pigmented skim coat fireplace. I did a structo-lite first coat, and pigmented paster second coat, But it really needs a 3rd, finish coat to dial it in. I will have to watch more of your videos, and do some practice for it before hand. stucco.1
I tried to post some photos of the progress, but it didn't seem to work? Keep up the good vids, I keep learning new skim coat tricks!
Kirk! good to see you, been a few years, cheers
Barbar, glad to have you back.

Hey Kirk, love the videos. DO you have a video for fixing a circular pattern on an interior ceiling? It looks like a "wurm hole" you see in sci-fi.
The best part of this video; is at the very end the DOG WITH THE HAT... The Team Leader... Haha...
That’s Charlie. He’s the boss, the world revolves around him and his desire for meatballs.
Really good job primer is actually a bonding agent
The man is a black belt in stucco
Correctamundo
Great work once again. Do you ever show mixing in the luminite accelerators? THat would be a nice addition
Of course we do, type that question in and like magic a video should appear.
Can you stucco over stucco wall, like add foam insulation over top old stucco and stucco it?
My 1980s California house is just studs except for the corners where there is plywood sheathing. Cheap builders built the tract
Most houses in the entire country are just studs as attaching plywood didn’t become mandatory until about 1980. I was lathing stud homes before this code became law.
@@StuccoPlastering I was stunned when I had to open up some exterior walls last year and didn't hit any sheathing under the stucco! If I ever have to do a major remodel, I'm going to add some sheathing on the interior side. Makes me worry the house will crumble in an earthquake.
While the new houses being built now are now sheathed, Tyvek wrapped, stucco and some even with 2x6 inch studs!
@@ironqqq that just means your home was built prior to 1980. Most homes in the country don’t have a plywood substrate, we have videos on how to repair stud homes.
@@StuccoPlastering I'm here in SoCal. built by Lewis Homes. 1985 built per the assessors office.
@@ironqqq different states have different rules. You may have just a stud home. Stud homes that have stucco on them usually have an extra ton that is so called wasted in the stud bays. This helps insulate the homes, thus there are some benefit’s to stud homes with stucco.
Kirk…. You should be doing voiceover work. Your voice is very distinctive and unique.
Good morning, Barking Shark Dude, LOL. 🤔
Hi Kirk, great video. Did you have to put some sort of caulking around the perimeter of patch first to prevent patch from cracking?
We applied Weld-Crete. If you click on the extended version, it will show that.
Love the doors. Plug…… break on through………haha
That’s what the home owner said, it was quite clever.
@@StuccoPlastering nice work
@@ruckinehround6965 😉
Thanks for the info man!
Howdy Hell Raiser, no problemo
Maybe you guys can answer this, if I want to paint the concrete block foundation wall on the outside of my house I just use water-based primer and then paint over it? Concrete needs to breathe but with water-based primer it won't cause any water issue?
That’s a myth, concrete does not need to breathe, you can use any quality primer for masonry, then paint it. Some of the professional I know recommend Sherwin Williams as the top paint.
How do you tell if the stucco is even worth repairing? What if spider cracks are everywhere.
Is there a shelf-life to the bonding agent? Meaning: if i opened a bucket, used it for some patches, can i put a lid on it, use it on another job later on down the road?
Every thing has a shelf life, people, bombs, stucco, so yes , what that shelf life is are for scientists to determine as ole Kirk’s just an applicator. Come to think of it my shelf life’s running out the the old saying, life is like a roll of toilet paper, the closer you get to the end, the faster it goes.
8:06 Cool beans for sure!!
Great video only a pro can do patches and repairs with such ease. I have seen many many of your videos and you probably already covered this but I have a Spanish lace/Hawk n Trowel finish on my house. How do I re-stucco to a smooth sand Stucco finish? Or even a colored sanded synthetic finish?
Howdy Bob, type that question in our search bar, we have many videos that show while explaining how it’s done. Cheers
I like you, Kirk.
@@Christopher-hh8iq Morning Chris, thank you, that’s might kind to say so. 😉

Let’s go kirk🎉
Cool beans daddieo
Kirk you have helped me through your videos on several of my projects but now I’m stuck with a situation where I need to tear down a stucco shed from pre 70s
Can you tell me is this something I can just bring to the landfill ? I’m guessing not?
I have thought of everything I could possibly do to save the shed but the frame is rotten the only thing that’s still good is the stucco but I’m scared to do anything from tearing down the stucco to trying to dump it
I’m scared the fees and clean up fees would be insane
All dumps take stucco, yea, the cost sucks. Some take it for free as they recycle it, I don't know of those sites near me, sorry.
Hey can you do some interior stamp videos???
