Grant, you are the man. Last year I stopped playing tennis for several months and since that time, I have been trying remember how I served. I had everything back except I knew I lost some MPH and I couldn't figure out why I was finishing on my right side no matter what serve I used. Your last point was the key to my deficiency. That tilt was what I forgot to do. So after watching your video, everything came together. And now I serve faster while getting more balls in. Thanks so much.
I like this guy . Like the steps and the system . I attended John Gardner’s tennis camp in the 70’s and learned the old style basics .His method seems to be more similar and methodical like theirs . Great job there dude !!!!

Grant, this video is fantastic, I'm lucky because I can be told or see an example and implement most of it. I did the little tips in the video, probably need the most work on knee bends. Via the spin and trajectory increases I stuck about 8 balls into the chain link fence off one bounce, good stuff. I also enjoyed the effortlessness of the power, I think slowly over time I've become an arm server, these tips fixed most of that. Now, the toss parallel to the service line, is the sole benefit consistency? I'm 100% consistent on my toss and usually toss slightly in front, but if the parallel toss also sets up the torso rotation etc. I'll keep it.
if you toss the ball with your arm so horizontal to the baseline, how do you hit the ball in the front? I used to do that but I noticed I didn't have space to hit the ball and I get jammed.

Like the straight line on back to back leg check point, not considered that before. Personally I found understanding the shoulder over shoulder motion was the single biggest key to my progression in serving - both for power and learning to do it in a way that's doesn't lead to injury. That's not something this really covers, and I feel coaches who can just do it don't understand how hard that is to get right. You've got to be able to visualise and get a feel for that complete motion to do it. Only after you've got it does looking at check points and breaking it down really work as they really only help you tweak the correct basic motion, but if the basic motion is wrong then they won't teach you it, sometimes they even make it harder.

The "shoulder over shoulder" motion will automatically happen. Don't have to think about or worry about how to execute the shoulder or shoulder motion IF the starting lateral trunk tilt is correct at the initial set up. 👍
tossing parralel to the line doesnt improve accuracy on the contrary it's much harder to toss in an arched way and be accurate. The point of J type toss is to hide what kind of serve you will do. It's easier for the opponent to read the serve if you toss on 11 or 12 o'clock in a straight upwards movement.
Really enjoy your videos, appreciate your efforts. If I may suggest toning down the "world class athletes" as most or none of us are and it seems a little too much like blandishment. Please don't take this wrong as I understand why you use it but it doesn't come off as encouraging if anything it's a reminder that we will likely (or in my case, definitely) not be one. Once again thanks for the great videos.
Biggest mistake I see is tossing the ball THEN starting the backswing motion. But the serve is ONE continuous motion, ball toss included, even if you mostly only use your wrist and forearm for ball smacking (cuz your knees and shoulder and back are old).
This guy is too excited. He's like the Sham-wow of tennis. In all seriousness, you forget some VERY good servers have a pinpoint stance (Kyrgios for example).
Grant i love the video !!! Some say tossing like Roger does parallel to the baseline is difficult to do. My toss is usually allover the place what do you recommend ? maybe tossing at a 45 degree angle or do you still like the Roger toss ? Thanks!!!!!
