    Jamie, I don't care for this type of video as trends change so quickly! Some go in and out even during the same year!! I definitely do not agree on the jean jacket trend. Jean jackets have been around forever, and for the last few years or so, they've been showing different styles, other than classic. Although I wouldn't go for anything too far out there, I think the classic and slightly oversized style will be around for a long time. I have also seen jewelry trends change a few times during the past year!

    I personally think one shoulder tops and dresses look horrible...I've yet to see models, or anyone on TH-cam styling them, that I think look good in them. Trends will come and go over and over again. Wear what makes you feel good about yourself and happy. I think we get too caught up in "the trends", and two years down the road we end up with a closet full of clothes we no longer feel comfortable wearing, and why.....because the designers are dictating what we should be wearing and if we're not wearing "the trends", then we care considered out of style. Clothing should be personal and unique to you and what you like and feel good in. Jamie, this is in no way a criticism of your video because I love the content of your channel and always look forward to your fashion ideas and input. I just feel there is too much emphasis on "being trendy", and not enough on just being you.

    • @YourGuideToStyle
      @YourGuideToStyle  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you to wear what you feel good in and makes you happy!!! I love these videos because I love to hear what people like you think about the subject. I do think things come and go and the way we dress just naturally changes over time and trends do really affect that. I love classic style and trends and mixing them up but totally agree sometimes we get too caught up in "the trends". I tried to concentrate on styles that just feel dated instead of really trendy things.

    It's simple for people who have good style. Fortunately fashion is available for those who can only "follow", and can not think for themselves, and usually don't have good "personal individual artistic " style. I never wear logos. I refuse to be a walking billboard, and to not get paid for using my body for advertising and modelling someone's product. Fashion comes and goes like common fads and is often very common and tacky, but good "personal artistic style and taste" that is pleasing to the eyes lives on. Harmony, balance, order and colour. And don't just go spending money on big brand name clothes and expect them to make you look any better. Try thinking about what you can do to also make the garment or clothes look good first. Clothes only look good when the person wearing them can make them look great. And knows how to.

    Something I like to do is “archive” my pieces that I’m either not drawn to or not in style. I just put them away for the next year and see what happens with my personal style preferences, and trends. The last thing I want to do is get rid of things and have to rebuy them when I already had them. This is also why I like to shop For more classy pieces. However, I will not be putting away my block heels. Now that I am pregnant with baby number three I really need something to look nice, but also provide solid support and balance. I tried a few pairs of kitten heel shoes at the thrift store, and ended up not purchasing any because they just didn’t work out for functionality. My eldest daughter said I walked too carefully and didn’t look comfortable. And I wasn’t! Definitely not. So these are some thing I will not get into unless I can find a chunkier kitten heel, something between a block and kitten. I definitely hear you on the jewelry! I recently pulled all of my jewelry pieces out I just haven’t been wearing and found that they are all more statement style pieces. I also used to really love these, but I’m not drawn to them at the moment. Style is definitely as individual and personal as you say! I personally feel way too homeschool mom wearing long denim skirts (I am a homeschool mom 😉) but I just don’t feel good in them so I don’t wear them! I do however, like to style vintage pieces in a modern way and this makes me feel very good! I love that we can talk about style and share opinions and continue to wear what we like/want, and love each other nonetheless!

    I have never understood the concept of “distressed” jeans, especially when you are actually paying more than you would for a pair that is brand new in perfect condition. Of course, it requires more labor to make them look like that so that’s how they justify the price. In 1995, Fender guitars started making the “Relic Series” guitars. They were made to resemble vintage guitars with worn, faded finishes and tarnished hardware. These instruments are also more expensive due to the fact that guitar relicing takes a lot of time and the guitar builders must be very skilled to pull this off. It never appealed to me, but they continue to be very popular today.

    Why are both bare shoulder type tops not in style? Because manufacturers and retailers want you to buy more!

      Hmm…I wear glasses and large earrings sometimes and I’ve never felt that way. I think a lot of factors play into it…face shape…hair style and color…petite or plus size…it’s not a solid no for everyone.

    Lol I can see why some people get offended by these videos. I bought some loose paper bag trousers from brf last month and I absolutely love them. I also just saw a huge influencer wearing some on her vlog so these are all subject to opinion but, yeah, I agree they are not as popular right now. Nonetheless I loved the video!!! Great job girl!

      Thank you! And this is definitely an opinionated subject lol! There are plenty of things I love and are still available that are not the end thing right now. I'm glad you got those trousers and love them! Thanks for sharing.

    Most of these I am happy for. Thrse seem more flattering on most body types than previous trends..... Except for the cutouts. That would be a hard one to pull off!

    Jean shorts with boots.... how ridiculous looking. Worst thing about jean shorts is on some, they are too short with cheeks showing. Uh, no on that look. The thing about any of these videos is I never see anything I like or would even wear that is in trend. I am going to wear what I like and looks good on me whether in style or not. Things too expensive these days to be wasteful.

    Never wore ripped jeans or hems. Wasn’t ever for me. Same w a few other things mentioned here but statement earrings will always be a thing. Just have to be the right thing. Like a Jennifer Behr or Lele Sedoughi. Also wear all kinds of hoops. Depends on mood and occasion. Thank you for the vid.

    Thanks! I'm style loving the chunky heels and ultra high waisted ( with crop tops) so I will wear them until it feels like the cold shoulder tops feel like to me now (outdated)
    Looking forward to your next video ! Plus I like big jewelry because I wear it on stage lol

    What one likes in clothes may have nothing to do with what might may or may not suite the person wearing it. Unless you are a skinny miserable looking model on a cat walk. However, for example, in reality if you wear a very happy beautiful dress and you walk around with that "I don't give a dam" attitude you will look even more miserable. It's simple "compliment what ever you wear" Wear it proudly and appropriately.
