They are both great cars and I was pretty close to buying an early gen 2 R8 (2016) that was white with stitched interior. I love the new tech of it, but in the end the beauty of the exterior of the Gallardo with the classy classic interior won me over.

Thanks for the suggestion! I think I would go with the custom BMC box in the future if I want an air filter upgrade as that allows much bigger filters for better air flow, as the filters are length ways in the box, 90 degrees to how the factory ones are setup.
You'll love it! The 5.2L is more powerful and reliable than the Pre-LP, and if you are going LP you really need to get a 2013 or 2014 for the awesome bumpers in my opinion.

Why you cover the filters?
The factory uses those covers as prevention for larger particles, just safety.
