I have an '03 Ford Taurus. I smelled gas in my garage and didn't know why. Turns out, A plastic elbow coming out of my gas tank (connected to the fuel line) was cracked. It effectively became a fuel injector and was spraying vaporized gas into the air. Coincidently, I had just given my car back-to-back treatments of fuel system cleaner which may have been too much for the plastic elbow causing it to fail.
Is it possible to have a very strong gas odor outside of the truck kinda around the gas tank but not have a check engine light come on? I’m thinking it might be something with the EAP system, but I don’t have any lights on.
Hello Sir @HVAC_Mechanic, I have a Suzuki Baleno petrol car from India. I notice a petrol smell during the morning start for about 10 seconds, after which the smell disappears. I do not see any fuel leaks anywhere inside the hood. I am not a mechanic, so how can I diagnose this issue myself? Note: The authorized Suzuki service center says there is no leak and everything is fine. However, they don't seem to want to spend time checking everything thoroughly. They are so lazy that they just say if it's not causing any major problems, I should simply drive it.
It’ll be the same as with anything, the vapors expand and are more noticeable. I would check the fuel pressure. Could be a faulty or leaking fuel pump since they sit inside the vehicle.
i bought a new gas cap. its cheap but seems like it doesnt seal the gas well. i can smell it from the outside. so decided to use the old one. now when i drive i can smell the car in the cabin. and opening the trunk it has this strong gas smell. and i dont know what to do. any suggestions?

Wouldnt this cause a check engine light if it’s going to pull a code with the machine? I have no check engine light on. It always seems to smell worse when I first fuel up. Once my car sits for awhile with a mostly full tank I can smell it pretty bad when I get back in my car after it’s been sitting awhile. After driving nd using the heat or AC the smell goes away. Seems to smell at its worse sitting for hours and off. I can only smell it when inside the car.
Last winter my car didn't smell gas at all at any time, now that the temperatures gone up it started smelling gas do you guys have had any issues like this ?
I just noticed the same problem today, hasn’t happened before but noticed it today when running my ac, it only smells when my ac is on and I stop at a stop sign or light. It doesn’t smell when I have the ac off

i just changed my fuel pump and started having this problem, didn't have it before i changed the pump
Did you solve it? Probably your new fuel pump is giving higher pressure so there can be leaks in your fuel system which are are more visible now.
@@pithaller9791 yea it was fixed, the lid on the fuel tank has a rubber seal and the seal crystalised and broke so the vapor was leaking out

I am having the exact same issue. The fuel smell is stronger after my car has sat still. I don't have any leaks.
