I dont do prepoos. Couldn't do it with coconut oil bc im afraid it would irritate my scalp. Ever since I got seborrheic dermatitis, my hair, well scalp lol hates coconut oil. Cleansers, I love the Aztec clay buy never tried any other clay. You have me intrigued lol. I tried the blue as I am co-wash (I think it was the shampoo) bc I read its helpful for s.d. but I can't remember if it stink&lingered in my hair or my scalp/hair didn't like it. Deep conditioners, CHILLLLLLL, I finally bought that camille rose AND IM IN LOVE with that one, omg. And I have the aphogee. Moisturizers, I've tried all 3 except for the soultanicals. Bomb! Those are the ones on your list I've tried or love.

      My staples though
Cleansers: Aztec clay, I want to try camille rose one, shea moisture manuka&honey no wait I think its the Jamaican black one lol.
Deep conditioners: camille rose algae renew, don't kill me but mielle babassu&mint, and my baby momma camille rose coconut water lol
Mosturizers: kknt curling custard, camille rose gel, her hair milk, her coconut water leave in, her honey hydrate leave in. As you can see, I love camille

@@AfopeAtoyebi Truly. I was ready to cut my hair because I thought it was damaged due to product or mechanical use but it was the water (I live in the Midwest). The As I Am Dry and Itchy Scalp is currently my go-to cowash. Surprisingly I don't really hear people talk about it at all, but I love the consistency and tingling/minty fresh feel of the peppermint and tea tree oil. Perfect for a midweek wash. Or when my hair isn't super dirty but needs a refresh.

    - DIYs. Eg aloe/coconut water diy, deep conditioner DIYs etc
    - “Neutral protein filler” - can I use this in my products whenever I need protein rather than having separate DC etc
    - HENNA! And Ayurvedic hair care - how it compares to protein and how to use it in the routine u recommend

My goodness! The BEST natural hair care advice channel on the net! I already had the wonderful pre-poo, but just ordered the curl maker, after spending a full day reading and researching, following the advice and great tips from your other videos. I used Giovanni protein hair infusion, for dry, damaged hair, and some other African Pride Moisture Miracles products, yesterday, and wow - waking up, this morning, the game has already changed, dramatically. I think I need to treat myself to a consultation with you, if you are still offering that as an online service, because I'm mighty impressed - especially with the video of your 8 week hair wash and conditioner regime. Makes so much sense, and I know I will see results, slowly but surely, following that. Many thanks. So glad I found your channel! 🙏🏾

I am OBSESSED with the Camille Rose Aloe Whipped Butter gel! I've used it as a one and done for a wash and go, but I also want to give it a try with a braid-out. I was very impressed with the Ecoslay banana deep conditioner, and though it's a rinse out conditioner, the Olaplex No. 5 conditioner leaves my hair feeling heavenly when I rinse it out! As you know, I love the clays, and I also love preparing some fresh aloe vera gel/juice, scooped out, blended, and strained, as a base for masks and clay washes and even clay face masks. Every time I use the Kinky Curly curling custard, it makes my hair crunchy, but that's probably because I'm heavy handed, as you point out that is something that can happen if you overdo it with that one. The African Pride pre-poo is absurdly effective, and we all know that Olaplex is bae - I think I have every item, from the salon-only Nos 1 and 2 to all the at-home collection. If anything, the only problem for me these days is deciding what to play with next! :-D

Hey Fops🖐🏾, thanks for letting us know about the day and time change because I was disappointed when I didn't see you yesterday! I have the African Pride prepoo in my stash, but I like the Just For Me Curl Peace prepoo better. It has aloe vera, marshmallow root, and honey. Another favorite is Mielle babassu mint dc, it's moisture/protein balanced with lots of amino acids in it. Some people don't care for the smell, but it doesn't bother me. I noticed when you posted the ingredients for the Redken conditioner that it contained isopropyl alcohol. Can you explain the purpose of it in hair care products. I thought it was considered "bad" and drying for the hair, and I always give stuff the sideeye when I see it on labels. I knew Hydration Elation was gonna be on here!😉

Yeah I noticed that about the redken too 😩 it’s typically used to control the viscosity of the product so it’s not too thick. It’s never my first choice, unless it’s the only product I can find at the time that has the exact combo of ingredients in looking for - as was the case with the redken. Please feel free to give me any solvent free suggestions of dc’s with a combo of ceramides, proteins, aminos and BTMS 😭😭 - I’m serous, I’m looking for options

It's amazing! I use (or have used) many of these products! Still trying to get my hands on Soultanical's though... ;-)
Thanks to your previous videos, I understand now that i was missing good strength and elasticity builders. I didn't know about ceramides and stopped using the Aphogee 18 months ago, thinking I could get by from simply adding vegetable keratin to my conditioners. From the state of my hair (loss of volume and too much stretch) I know better know... ;-)
But since I really hated using the 2 step, I'm hesitant about it and I've been thinking about the Schwarzkopf BC Fibre Clinix as a replacement or the Aphogee Strenghtening Kit. I know the Fibre Clinix is a bond builder, but they also advertise fortifying with peptides and/or collagen through the boosters.
Anyway, I thought it could be an interesting idea for a video to talk about bond repairs product like Olaplex of Fibre Clinix. They are very few such videos in the natural hair community... ;-)
Thank you very much for your fun, relatable and highly informative content! :D

Hi Afope!!! Came across this video and it was very helpful. I do have a question if you don't mind.
Say one does their own DIY deep conditioning protein treatments at home, after having left such in the hair for whatever amount of time, then wash out, does one STILL apply the deep conditioner after? Or does the DIY deep conditioning protein treatment done earlier suffice? I'd appreciate it if you could grant me some clarity here. Thanks!

Why not just do the aphogee 2 minute reconstructor? The 2 step is more when you use heat often or if hair is color treated.

Question we have Tresseme 3 in 1 in Canada and it was my first time using because you said it chelates.I have grey hair and have been struggling with this brownish tinge on the ends of my hair . When I tell you it is gone, after one wash and I have used every type of purple shampoo snd it didn’t work. The reason I am writing.. there are claims of Treaseme lawsuits, balding and scalp irritations. What are your thoughts or views in this? You are so knowledgeable snd I trust your expertise. Let me know what you think. Thanks

I have dry, high porosity 4C and thought pre-poo was essential for every wash day, , even if you have reached max hydration. Thanks!

    • @uberhaute_naturalz84
      @uberhaute_naturalz84 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I think it's better to use products without humectant in a highly humid weather. Eg.15°C or 60°F and above.
