My heart literally sinked. Innersense was pushed by the curly specialist during the NONB whole saga. Money was made and many heads of hair were loss. Innersense as a brand is problematic. I shared my personal experience with hair loss after using a styling product by the brand. After I posted my experience hundreds of people came forward with their stories with the brand. So many people experienced hair loss, hair thinning, and various other allergic reactions. I reported the brand to the FDA. I also contacted the brand and returned all of the products I purchased. I now try to warn everyone about the brand. I’ve equated the hair loss due to either the formulation or there is something in the ingredients that’s not being shared due to proprietary reasons. I’m so glad someone sent me your video.
Hello beautiful. Thank you for taking the time to watch my video. I just watched yours and I am truly heart broken and horrified by what that product did to your hair. I was told this shampoo would be the “best” thing for my natural hair. I trusted and believed that and used it regularly because I was told it could be used every week for my wash days. I was in so much denial because I just couldn’t believe this expensive shampoo could be doing this to me. I’ve tried their other products and had no issue, but I’m definitely about to take a step back from the brand. People told me not to post this video because they won’t sponsor me if the opportunity came, and i do not care about sponsorships and what not. It’s wild people are scared to speak up and worse, trying to convince others not to speak up.
@@CammyjOfficial thank so you so much for your comment. I too had the same trust in my stylist and the brand. Oddly enough I struggled with webbing and my hair felt rough but my stylist told me to trust the process. I wish I knew that was my hair fighting to stay healthy. I can’t say that I am shocked that people told you not to share your story or come forward. So many people were told to keep quiet about the brand, curly cuts, and the 30 day detox. There was so many threats and blackballing going on. Thank you for having the courage to come forward. I said it on my video but I’ll say again. I don’t think there is anything wrong with being an influencer and influencing others but it needs to be done in an ethical way. Something like hair loss and hair thinning is not an issue you ignore while pushing it to your subscribers. Thank you for honesty on this issue. I hope your hair fully recovers from this while incident.
🤗💓 I agree wholeheartedly! No one should be shunned for sharing their honest experience with products, especially the negative ones! People need to know the REAL!!
@@SimplyTamz I appreciate you all for telling your stories as well as those who used the method but tweaked it so didn't suffer as much. I tell people I don't use raw oils and butter and that unfortunately a lot of organic products back in 2009-2011 made my scalp itch. Back then I just stopped using the products and switched to non-organic products. I wasn't always like this but I know now that things change as you get older. I never stopped using leave-in conditioner or deep conditioner and I do not avoid a product with oils and butters in the first 5 ingredients. We have all learnt a lesson here over the past year.
Actually brands are not allowed to not share ingredients. All ingredients must be listed. Even if your ingredient has been patented you must still list it but you'll be the only one allow to use it. Now some brands especially small and new ones (who can more easily avoid big law suits because they go under the radar of big law firms looking for class action lawsuit) sometimes do not share their full ingredient list to look more appealing or more "natural" when they break into the market. It could also be a problem in the formula itself. For instance if they did not add enough preservatives that could grow bacteria faster which can affect the scalp but if you add too much it can irritate your skin ... Many new/small "natural" brands keep on having this type of problems. It could be many things.
@@cooky_2076 I always read the one stars first (sorted by most recent)... that has saved me from buying some crappy items. BTW, a lot of people get paid to write fake reviews for these companies nowadays.
Hi, thanks for the warning! I am also convinced that many of these product reviews are paid and/or fake reviews. I have purchased several products before going back and reading the small percentage of one star reviews and the one star reviews are always spot on!
I even got rid of the gel because I saw someone said that in the top ingredients there is something called hydroxyde potassium: it is one of the main ingredient of a relaxer. This ingredient can in fact be used as a ph regulator but at the end of an inci list not as high as in the gel. and I even compared to several botanical gel to see if there was this type of ingredient. None of them had it so I decided to gave my gel that I only used one time because I used 2 innersense shampoos and had overtime a bad exeperience too! The only product I decided to keep is the conditionner because it makes my hair soft now that I use it with my favorite shampoo, don't know if I will repurchase. The thing with the shampoos is I think there are too many anionic surfactants whereas the shampoos are supposed to be moisturizing, because of that I think they act like clarifying shampoos. I apologize if my english is not perfect I speak French but I followed the BGC method from France for like 5 months but stopped because my hair were really dry! Thank you
Innersense always seemed culty to me. When everyone swears that only one brand is right to use and the company can do no wrong, I just sit and eat my pop corn 🍿Innersense is gonna be a nightmare just like Deva Curl
Crazy part is I never knew of it until my visit with that stylist. I did not follow the BGC (black girl curls) method exclusively. I only knew it was on their list of approved products due to the stylist letting me know. I didn’t know the brand had such a huge dedicated following.
I used to use DevaCurl religiously and would lose so much hair on wash day. My dad used to comment that I would lose enough hair to make a wig. I can't believe I thought that was normal hair loss
@@SocialWorkDivaI recently had a similar occurrence of increased shedding caused by a shampoo and you only really realize in retrospect just how much hair you were losing.
Hello 👋🏾! So many isotope have experienced this as well. It’s concerning. I’m glad I figured out what was happening before it was too late. Thank you for watching!
I remember seeing your video on my recommendations when you came out with the review. I wanted to comment on the video about the controversies arising from the informative videos from Rosie and Shelley, even a case of hair loss from Tamz, and the professional input from AfrikanHairGod. I'm really sorry to hear what happened. My hair was completely damaged and I even had lingering residue damage that had to grow out even further despite big chops. Thankfully you've caught on the damage way earlier so that you don't experience as much damage.
Hello 👋🏾! I’m sorry to hear your hair got damaged too 😔. The fact you have lingering damage makes it even worse. I was so sad and frustrated. I looked up online and saw many natural stylist are pushing this shampoo as a must have for their clients.
I rotate shampoos and read ingredients before deciding to use a product even if I've bought it before...especially because companies change formulations without telling us!! My view is that Innersense products are not moisturising enough for Black/African-American/Afro-Caribbean hair. It's ridiculous to expect a person with an oily scalp and straight thin fine hair to use the same products as a person with dry scalp, and kinky, thick, coarse hair. if you have oily skin you don't use the same face products as people with dry skin!! Also some people like me have allergic reactions to those organic oils!! So just because it's organic and natural doesn't mean it's for my scalp or hair...no matter how expensive/professional salon usage it is! When my stylist recommended Olaplex, I let him use it on my hair for 6 months in the salon before I decided to try it at home.
Hello 👋🏾! Thank you for sharing all these great points. I trusted the stylist because she was a natural hair stylist and was certified under the BCG method. They highly recommend products by this company for natural hair.
@@cfoster6804 They said Shea moisture, Devacurl and Wen caused hair loss. In my experience you need to rotate shampoos and condtioners....unfortunately, a lot of people do not do this. People use the same thing over and over meanwhile the companies are rotating formulations for sure!! I see people with healthy hair use Olaplex...for what purpose!! Salons that use Olaplex do not use it on every client...same with protein/strengthening products...they are not everyday products unless you have very damaged/compromised hair. Then there are those sleeping in rinse out conditioner....Oh wait I know people who slept in Olaplex, your scalp and hair are not supposed to be wet for 8 hours. At this stage we all need to take a course at cosmetology school.
Actually this brand is sold in France but not in the Organic section since it has no organic label. You can't just claim to be organic with no evidence showing !
Thank you for sharing your experience with these hair products. I too was following curly hair specialist and using the shampoo, conditioner, and gel. I noticed my hair was thinning at the top and causing bald spots. Not sure of the cause, I went to my medical doctor to have blood work done and my blood work did not report any health issues. At this point, I decided to use TGIN and Camille Rose products which is what I used when I completed the big chop. Six months later my hair has become thicker and is thriving. I attribute my hair loss to the same hair products that you are warning against.
Oh wow!!! When I was using Camille rose and TGIN my hair was thriving too!! I felt like I was going crazy because my hair has never felt like this! I started to see the thinning spots and panicked. I then eliminated this shampoo and my hair started to become normal again. I’m sorry you had to deal with that too! Thank you for watching!
SimplyTamz had a similar terrible experience with the innersense shampoo. It seems that perhaps some stylists (esp. the NONB crew) were paid by the brand to push it and the adoption of it was not organic. 🤔
@@pixiedust6630 No oils no butters. It was first promoted as a "30 day hair detox" during which people would cleanse, condition, and style their hair using products in which oils and butters were either nonexistent, and or 6th and lower on the ingredient list. The creators of this method advocated continuing for more than 30 days if people weren't getting the wash and gos they wanted, some of their advice even suggesting that it would take up to two years for the hair to "become hydrated" (it really just takes a few good clarifying shampoos). In addition, to achieve very good definition, the stylists recommended skipping leave-ins and layering two gels or a gel and a foam every 7-10 days. People who steadfastly followed this method noticed that over time, their hair became dull, dry, and brittle, leading to intense splits throughout the lengths of their hair as a result of too many gels, not enough moisturising products, and the regular usage of harsh, drying, overly stripping shampoos, such as the one mentioned in this video, all of which were recommended to consumers by licensed professionals.
Oh, my goodness! I was about to buy this shampoo and good thing I thought to look for reviews before buying it because I found your video! I have taken care of my hair with so much love and sacrifice for 6 years since I decided to be a natural hair girl that I'm not going to let anything damage my hair! THANK YOU! And I hope more people are encouraged to tell the truth about products that influencers make famous but are really no good!
Hi Cammy, thank you so much for the warning. I had a horrible experience with Function of Beauty. This is supposed to be products that you customize for your hair. My friend, it was like using detergent. My hair was dry. It also seemed like it was matting! It was so hard to comb my hair, and it looked hard to comb because it my styles didn't come out right. After three washings, it met the Glad bag in the kitchen. I spent a lot of money on it, but I love my hair and I want my hair to know it.
Oh wow!!! That sounds like how my hair was when the hair stylist first used the product in my hair. I should have just followed my instincts, but I decided since it was recommended by a professional that it had to be the best thing for my hair despite what my hair was telling me. Thank you for watching!
I don't understand how it was customised for dry hair and still make your hair dry...these companies are just trolling us now! lol! Lemme stick to old African Pride, ORS and Creme of Nature. Honourable Mention Aphogee Curlific protein shampoo. It's a protein shampoo but it doesn't strip my hair or make it hard and it doesn't web my hair. Granted I have fine, high-porosity hair but it can still tangle really badly if I'm not careful.
From my understanding, pure harmony is more of a clarifying shampoo. I follow a diverse set of stylists that use Innersense and I rarely hear them use PH. Most of the black stylists i follow use the Hydrating Hair Bath. I can understand a shampoo being more stripping than expected. But webbing upon first use is very unusual.
Hello 👋🏾! It webbed that very time the stylist used it in my hair. She told me it’s fine to use weekly, I just need to follow it in with their conditioner (which I did).
I always see stylist recommend those products and always try to in a way “shun” any other products for the sake of “healthy” hair. But the thing is…there are plenty of influencers who use many other products that DO have healthy hair…so it makes you question what’s even the deal behind this “healthy” hair trend and the negative light it shines on other products and ingredients. Plus innersense is too expensive fr 😂
Oh no sorry for your experience.😢 This video just popped up the same time my order of innersense conditioner came up. I haven't used this particular one as I was introduced to the color radiance line by my colorist. I use the color radiance shampoo and the matching conditioner and it works really well on my hair. I dont have any issues, and my hair is well moistured with the shampoo and conditioner. I've used it for the last 2 years and haven't tried any other shampoo and conditioner from them. Thanks for letting know !!
Thank you! I have been in denial the last few months about my hair. I couldn’t put my finger out it but I’ve been experiencing all the same things you did. My hair just feels dead and thin. It finally just clicked in my head today that it might be my hair products. I thought maybe it was because I’m getting older. I use innerscence shampoo conditioner and gel. Thank you for this video. I’m switching products asap.
💚 We are truly sorry that this has happened to you. Our small black owned business tests all of our products on the owner first to make sure they meet our brand standards and expectations. Praying for a speedy recovery to you on your healthy hair journey. 💚
Oh my goodness this happened to me too! I used it for six months and I lost so much hair. I thought it was my hormones and blood work came back normal. I am so glad I found this video!
Omg that is what happen to me as well.My natural stylist recommend me this as well. It changed my hair and dry like straw. So she told me to stop using this. She didnt like the feel of my hair and thinnest of my hair as well. So I understand !! Thanks for sharing!!
Omg!! Sorry this happened to you too! My hair was sooooo dry and literally became straw-like. I found myself having to extra condition my hair to make it feel somewhat normal!
I tried the ORS rainwater shampoo and conditioner but it seems to dry my hair out and there's no slip. I'm looking for a combo that is deep moisturizing.
Wow, i just started using innersense hydrating cream hair bath and color radiance conditioner a couple months ago (by a natural hair stylist, i used to be relaxed, now natural) and my hair has never felt more moisturized and detangled. My hair seemed to really like it and i have really tight 4c hair and its hard to find products that my hair likes. However, my scalp has been more itchy, so i wonder if thats why? 🤔 im going to keep an eye out going forward! This is concerning because i have cca alopecia, i dont need to be losing any more hair!
Hello! Please check out the video from simplyTamz. I pinned her comment in the comment section here. Her scalp started itching too, and she eventually has a lot of hair loss from this brand. I didn’t experience issues with the hydrating hair bath though. All I’ll say is please document your scalp and reactions just to be sure. I wish I had done so in the begging. Thank you for watching!
Thank you for your review. I had a similar experience with Olaplex. My hair stopped shedding as soon as I stopped going to that stylist. Glad your hair is better!
This brand has been in so many videos in the past 6 months with ladies having bad reactions to it. So sorry you went through this. I've seen several ladies talking about this exact same thing. So glad I didn't go ahead and purchase these products.
Hello 👋🏾! It’s crazy cause after I did my video now TH-cam is showing me all the related videos. Thank you for the kind words. I only knew of this brand through the natural hair stylist who recommended it.
@CammyjOfficial Yup! I feel like they were getting monetized from doing this hence why so many of the natural hair stylists, especially the ones who followed the BGC method, pushed it so much. Just sad that so many ladies hair suffered because of it! Some having to chop their hair and start over.
I’ve been using Innersence Hydrating Hairbath and Conditioner and I Create Hold Gel and never any issues. I would see a dermatologist if my hair was thinning. My stylist has used Innersence products on my hair since about 2019.

Good grief! I wonder what's in it that causes this to happen? I'm sorry this happened to you, Cammy. We're sensitive about our hair!! I'm glad your hair was able to bounce back.
I just saw his video on this same subject. He definitely did call it. Wish I had known much sooner after the certified natural hair stylist recommended this to me for weekly use.
@@CammyjOfficial All imma say is, keep watching your hair girl. Look at old pics and videos and analyze. The BGC controversy has weight, but I also respect people’s choices in who they decide to trust, especially if they’re seeing the results they want. AHG does have a summary on the whole situation in there though, but just the part 1. He’s still working on part 2. That’s the quickest way to get all the way up to speed. Best of luck to you and your journey sis ❤️
Thank you. I will watch the rest of his videos on it. I’ve definitely stopped using the shampoo altogether. I felt like I was going crazy because I did what you just said. I was looking at old pics and videos and was shook at how much thinner my hair appeared!!!!
I had a similar experience. I bought this product line based on my stylist's recommendation. I've never had issues with my hair or any family history of scalp problems. I don't wear weaves and usually have my hair in two simple braids. Over time, I noticed a similar spot as you described, particularly at the front of my hair. My hair is so thick I really didn’t notice until the spot was smooth bald. Because of the dryness I went from armpit length hair to chin length. Switched back to the old school products and the hair grew back.
Hello 👋🏾! Sorry you experienced this too. It wasn’t until I started to check my scalp that I noticed the spots becoming sparse and smooth too. Like you, I’ve never had issues like this with any other hair product.
I know exactly what you are describing, I had this same reaction to the silicone mix conditioner. I was shocked because the reviews on this product were really good. I thought maybe I just got a bad bottle, but I’m not going to give it another chance. It took several days for me to get my hair back right.
Hello and thank you for sharing your own experience. My issue took a few months to process to the point I really noticed once I styled my hair and actually looked at thinning spots 😔. I’m glad your hair recovered. Thank you for watching!
i used their curl defining foam when it first came out a couple of years ago and had a really bad experience with it. thankfully i haven’t tried any of their other products. but i was always confused because most of the reviews were positive and a lot of hairstylists (including my own) were recommending the brand, and it felt like i was the only one having issues. 😫
@@CammyjOfficialhi ! i’ve copied and pasted my review that i left on their website last year. 👇🏾 my review is under the 1 star reviews. “I try my best not to speak in hyperbole, but I can legitimately say this is *the* worst hair product I’ve ever used. I am literally typing this out before I hop in the shower to rinse this foam out of my hair. I made sure to read the negative reviews before purchasing this, but the idea of having a curl enhancing foam that wouldn’t aggravate my seborrheic dermatitis made me take the risk. And oh man the risk did not pay off. Yesterday as I was applying the foam, I noticed that it did not feel moisturizing and was not viscous. I saw certain parts of my hair begin to frizz up, leaving me with no definition, while other parts of my hair were able to retain definition. I then noticed how sticky the foam is, literally the skin on my neck stuck together. To make this experience even worse, I noticed after diffusing my hair, the defined parts were very very hard, and the frizzy parts were still wet. Now a day later, my hair is crunchy to the touch, you can literally hear my hair stretching out as I pull on a strand because of how crispy the foam made my hair. Not only that, my hair is so dry and hard, the rat tail comb I usually use to part my hair in sections cannot go through my hair. I am literally nervous about attempting this again because I know parts of my hair at the root will break even though I dampen my hair with water. I am so disappointed. I can’t believe this product is still being sold, when it needs to be pulled and reformulated. Something in this foam is not working and I don’t believe that it is healthy for anyone’s hair strands long term. I am very happy I bought the smallest size to try out and didn’t waste my money on the regular sized bottle.”
Happy Monday 💜 Wowww this is wild. Thanks for sharing . Those reviews said alot about the product. Smh Have a Blessed Week 🙌🏼 🛐“My grace is all you need, for my power is the greatest when you are weak.”💜💜💜
I had this problem when I used the Wen products. After looking at the ingredients, I figured out shea butter is super sealant to my low porosity hair. Once I eliminated shea butter my hair stopped breaking, shedding, and falling out. Try to stop using products with shea butter and see if you notice a difference. I use Jamaican black castor oil to seal my hair now.
Thank you so much for this video. I have lost so so much hair this past year and my mind kept going back to the shampoo. But like you, I gaslit myself thinking maybe it’s my diet or lack of vitamins which maybe that too but it’s been so bad. So bad that my self-esteem has gone down because I feel like I have straw as hair now. I’m going to stop using innersense and see if my hair changes.
Hello 👋🏾! I’m so sorry to hear about your hair loss. Stopping use of this product was the key to restoring my hair. After a few weeks I could feel the difference in my hair. It no longer felt like straw. Thank you for watching!
I told my curly cut stylist I didnt like hoe my hair felt after her using it and she tried to convince me that you cannot judge a product that you dont use consistently. Glad I didnt listen to her because i didnt need another DevaCurl saga
Be like some shampoos are just dryer or more drying, i usually place conditioner in with it because i know my hair can tangle at times. Webbing i never heard of. Shampoo company needs back to drawing board ❗😬😬😬😬😬
Wow.. thanks for letting us know. I wonder what actual ingredient was the cause. I too have used other products (I won’t name them) and thought it may have been my hair, but discovered it was the product. My hair finally started growing back healthy when I went back to what I normally used.
I actually use the line and it works amazing on my texlax hair. Everyone is different. Hate you experienced that. I only use the sweet spirit leave in conditioner and the hydrating shampoo
I have used this shampoo and was actually wary of purchasing and using the i create hold gel because of reviews like this. This is not to take away from your experience, but my stylist actually told me that this shampoo is really a co-wash. This shampoo shouldn't be used on its own, if that makes any sense? It's not cleansing enough to use by itself, which can cause buildup because you're not washing your scalp thoroughly, which can then cause hair loss. If you want to use it by itself, it's like a mid-week wash, but it's not nearly cleansing enough to use as a moisture-poo, which is why I stopped using it because I wanted cleansing and moisture balance in a shampoo, not just moisture and barely any cleansing! But I keep my ears to the streets when stuff like this happens to people, and I watch my hair's behaviour like a hawk! Thank you for sharing your experience, and I'm sorry this happened to you. I wish your stylist had actually provided information rather than saying, "If you hear webs, tell other stylists."
Hello 👋🏾! Now I am using influence moisturizing shampoo and miche beauty conditioner. I tried the new FENTY shampoo and conditioner and liked that too. My hair had recovered a lot! Almost 100% back to normal.
Bosley hair shampoo saved my hair after a horrible shed after Covid and a high protein hair system. It stopped the shed in a couple of days and I didn’t need a conditioner!
@@CammyjOfficial Yea. My dermatologist recommended it. I had to take my gallon plastic bag full of hair or else they don’t take you seriously. They see we have a lot of hair and assume it’s hormones or a vitamin deficiency. A hair stylist recommended the protein and my hair said absolutely not! Did the same thing your hair did! I’m sorry that happened to you!
@@MySkinnydip I hate that they don’t tags you seriously!!! Glad you got your issue resolved! Some people never get a proper resolution I’m finding out. Thank you 🙏🏾 for your kind words of concern.
I’m going through that now, scalp was red and itchy, I went to the dermatologist and she said watch was shampoo I use, my hair is brittle, thin, and hair loss
My hair dis this too! Shocked me but I think my changes are from menopause and hard-water in combination with stress and product choice. Ive never uses this product but I've definitely know what the dry stringy brittle frizzy, hair that holds water but also repells water. Shaft not being penetrated with products i believe. If i didnt know any better id say i have this waxy layer that grows with my hair. I get the most. Horrific fairy knots that i never had before and for years i couldnt handle coming my hair so i feel cut but only doing so like once a year or lil under as mu hair grow was also halting drasticallly! 😢 But ive had more time to do styles that would last on my short awkward length wish seems that is the length i get to when the fairy knots invade and take over. Man this is triggering. Sorry 😢
I used this brand maybe over a year ago, I experienced webbing and an allergic reaction to the products. Never in my life have I had something like this happen to me. I ended up with small bumps everywhere on my forehead, my scalp was so tight, and the hair loss/shedding took this last year to fix. I have a friend who sees a stylist who only recommends these products and I told her, it doesn’t happen to everyone, but definitely keep a watch out for your hair. 😢
Hello 👋🏾! I’m so sorry that happened to you 😔. Many stylist exclusively recommend this product line. I’m glad you were able to recover. Thank you for watching.
Ok, Cammy, there is an ingredient companies are using for “Natural” hair products. It’s called “SODIUM LAURAL SULPHATE.” This ingredient destroys the hair oil gland because it's supposed to clean the hair and scalp from buildup. This (might) be why (we) are experiencing hair loss. Check all your natural products and compare the ingredient. However, it’s not only in cleansing shampoos. It could be in other types of shampoo. Like “moisturizing” or “strengthening,” Some might have a (sulfate), but it might have different types of sulfate that might not be too stripping.
I noticed the same thing. I started seeing red puss bumps on my scalp. My scalp was irritated and itchy, and my hair was shedding when using their products. My hair changed when I used the shampoo and the conditioner.
They have changed the formula!! It used it for years. It was the best. Once they went into Ulta I noticed a difference. It began to irritate my scalp. I stopped using it. I have been loving Cecred by Beyoncé.
@@CammyjOfficial Yes. I have a very sensitive scalp. Any changes and my scalp will scab up and have excessive dandruff. That’s what I was experiencing with that line. I have never had that before with their products. I switched to Cecred and my scalp went back to normal immediately.
I've noticed similar bald patch a couple months ago and I switched to innersense late 2022. I just stopped using their products a couple months ago and hoping my hair gets back to normal. I also went to the dermatologist to make sure all is fine but this is really disheartening as I already have low density hair :(
Hello 👋🏾! I’m sorry to hear you’re also experiencing this issue. It will go back to normal in time. When I stopped using the product I noticed my hair going back to normal in a few weeks.
Hello 👋🏾! The most imperative thing I did was discontinue use of the product altogether. Since then I’ve been using a product called “it’s natural” moisturizing shampoo
Loved this stuff- especially the scent - but I suspect it's been doing the very same thing to me. Something's wrecking my scalp! I analyzed the ingredients - there's salt in it (sodium chloride) as one of its top ingredients. Very drying and irritating to the scalp and can cause hair breakage and loss. It also has orange peel oil as fragrance - which could be irritating.
Hello 👋🏾! I noticed my scalp would also get irritated after using it for a while too. I started to developed flaky scalp. Thank you for sharing your experience, and thank you for watching!
@@CammyjOfficial Just an official correction on my part: I just ran a skin patch test. Hairbath didn't cause a reaction. My conditioner sure did - a major irritated red rash. Not the Innersense brand. (Native brand Coconut & Vanilla. Steer clear!) But I also tried my Innersense Detox Mask (with the charcoal) and that also caused itchiness and redness. I'm over here skin-testing and chucking things in the trash. Meanwhile, I'm taking ingredient notes so I can figure out what I'm allergic to.
Im sorry this happened to you. I used Joico shampoo and conditioner, and my hair was matted and tangled. It took me forever to comb thru my hair. That has never happened to me before. I returned it to ulta, and i hardly ever return hair products.
I'll stick to the regular degular herbal essence shampoos..... i tried a natural hair product line and my hair was doing excessive shedding like I had just done a chemo treatment. No thank you. I'll stick to the cheap regular hair products because my hair stays on my head with them.
I agree my hair was breaking and coming out almost done my bottle didn’t think it was the shampoo though it was my age or something but I’m glad I saw this video very dry like straw especially in the crown area 3b fine hair and it’s summer my hair grows in the summer and got a big chop so it’s healthy hair 🤔🤔🤔
Ok so.. firstly… Hi there.. And secondly.. Just because something says it’s Organic doesn’t mean it’s a GOOD product for everyone and anyone everywhere.. me personally I keep all things cosmetic as natural as possible.. I tend to not go for the endorsed products / brands.. I don’t care who says it can do this that or whatever… see what I already do works for me so then why would I change the way I do things just on some nobody’s say so… nah fam.. I won’t do that.., these new fangled things that are out there on the market don’t interest me in the slightest… if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.. yep that’s my mantra and I think it is one we can all fully adopt.. Good luck on your journey Cammy… I wish you all the luck in the world.. the universe and far beyond buddy.. Cheers for this content & Ciao ;)’
It might not necessarily be the shampoo but rather the black girl curls method- because have been following the methods but not using this shampoo and have had a lot of webbing
I like Innersense products, but I can see how they could cause problems. Their products aren’t designed to work like other products. You must add a lot of water, basically dilute them, when using their products. I suspect the products are creating severe build up for many people.
Hello 👋🏾! I use excessive water whenever I wash my hair. My hair was always fully saturated. I also don’t use a lot of product. I use about a nickel sized amount of product and then work the product into my hair after emulsifying it.
Hmm, in terms of how your hair reacted, this product has lot of surfactants that are known for being gentle although the dose makes the poison. The shampoo may have also had too much sodium chloride (which is very normal and fine in shampoos but it is detrimental for hair when there's too much). In terms of how your scalp reacted (hair thinning, etc), I took a look at the ingredients list and noticed something which is so annoying in both skincare and haircare products. The product has essential oils and fruit extracts which can be equally if not more irritating than some compounds labeled as fragrance in products. This is usually used to maintain the "natural" label on products which honestly doesn't mean anything and has yet to be defined. If it's not that, maybe your hair just doesn't rock with their formula or the product is expired.
Yup the sodium chloride and not enough moisturising agents in this shampoo that she used. the most hydrating shampoo that they have is the Hydrating Cream Hairbath. Black/African American/Afro-Caribbean hair sufferers from chronic dryness. Products made for everyone are not moisturising enough. Haircare is not one size fits all. I always read the ingredient list and have never had a product misbehave again after.
Hello 👋🏾! The stylist told me as long as I followed up their conditioner I was fine to use this shampoo often. I did try their moisturizing shampoo and had no issue with any of their other products.
I’m still perm my hair but like to still wear the puffy look. But lately I have to do extra treatments because of how brittle my hair has been feeling. I’m even considering going to bar shampoo for a while. I’m sure I lose a couple of centimeters from the breakage and dryness I’ve been experiencing
@@CammyjOfficial No, bc as someone who has had natural hair for all but 6 years of my life, I do not use one shampoo all the time (each time I wash my hair, I use a different shampoo) and if I don’t like how one feels, bc I spent my money, I condition my hair first then use the shampoo until it is gone!
@@CammyjOfficial I had the exact experience with a different product line, Twelve12 Beaute. My hair had never reacted in that way to a product. Everything you described, I experienced and then some. I watched video after video on their TH-cam channel; read reviews. Oddly enough, there was only one negative review of the brand, in which the reviewer shared her hair loss after using the products. Surely, she and I can't be the only ones who had negative experiences. It's taken months to restore my hair after using that brand.
Hello 👋🏾 and thank you for watching. Thus far, I’ve only had an issue with this specific shampoo from their line. I do understand anyone’s hesitance to use this line though.
I know you only mentioned the shampoo but not me just getting the conditioner prime day. Then this video popping up *goes to Amazon and cancels* I’ve used innersense but it’s been over 2 years
Hello 👋🏾! I’ve only even had issues with this shampoo. I’ve used their other products and was fine. I done know what is about his shampoo, but it’s made others peoples hair itch and start thinning 😢.
The way you describe your hair sounds like it needed to be clarified. Were you able to clarify regularly? I've been clarifying once a month long before I found Innersense.
@@CammyjOfficial It's actually not, but thank you for the warning as I was about to purchase. I actually did end up getting the Clarity shampoo bc it is clarifying. But I experienced hair loss on the first use, and had to return it 🙃 I was shocked. Their creme hairbath and conditioner are my holy grail and I have them in jumbo size. They have made my hair so healthy along with the weekly wash day's, so I am really shocked by this. *sigh*
@@CammyjOfficialThat shampoo is a clarifying shampoo. I don’t think you’re supposed to use it weekly. The one to use weekly is the Hydrating Cream Bath. That’s the moisturizing one to use weekly. Their gel is bomb and stays in the rotation.
Hello 👋🏾 and thank you for watching. I truly trusted the stylist on this one because she told me it would be an amazing shampoo for my hair. I’m glad I stopped using it before the damage became permanent.
The only shampoo I'm using right now is baby shampoo I ain't able with these new things again they're making you hairless and I'm also using rain water
@@CammyjOfficial Girl that's the sad part! I think they are not using all the products that they recommend. I think they have found what is needed for their hair to thrive but not telling us it probably old school stuff like blue magic grease that their mamma used on them since childhood. Oh no, this is horrible. I've never used Innersense products before but I always see it on shelves and I've been interested in trying it out. I'm glad I came across your video because now I know I won't be trying it out - especially since there are so many other brands out there.
I have used many products in the 28 years I have been natural. I can usually tell after ONE use.. for example, after 2 uses of Oleplex, my hair SHED like crazy. I knew exactly what the issue was.....so, hair loss for others was no suprise to me. I all these years I have also educated myself on INGREDIENTS. At this point, I know what works and what doesn't. Educated consumers are dangerous for these companies that try to market and scheme.....we are much better off with a bit of oil and a bit of butter....
Hello 👋🏾. I’ve used and tested many had products as well. I enjoy trying new hair items. This product took time for the real damage to become noticeable to me.
I always pay attention to negative feedback even if most are positive the negative takes president.😮
Trust me, I’ve learned my lesson. I’m always going to the one star 🌟 reviews from here on out!

Thank you
Hello and thank you for your in-depth and insightful comments! I’m sorry the shampoo affected you negatively as well!!
Hey Cammy. Thanks so much for sharing your experience with the product. Sometimes 1 star reviews are helpful. I really hope you make a full recovery.
Hello and thank you! Yes they are very helpful. Glad I wasn’t the only one experiencing this, cause I felt like I was going crazy!

Just sharing my experience
YOU TOLD NO LIES, my hair had the exact same reaction as yours.
Yeah and people saying olaplex causes hair loss too.
People were sleeping with that stuff in their hair for hours!?!
I LITERALLY had this in my cart but removed it last minute because of the price. Thank you so much for this informative video.
Hello 👋🏾 and thank you for watching!
SimplyTamz had a similar terrible experience with the innersense shampoo.
It seems that perhaps some stylists (esp. the NONB crew) were paid by the brand to push it and the adoption of it was not organic. 🤔
I just saw her video on it 😔. I saw a stylist recommended it to her as well.
What is NONB

Hello and thank you for watching! I definitely didn’t want to stay silent on this when I know this could possibly help someone.
Function of beauty destroyed my hair as well. Like I need to cut off 6 inches right now to get to the healthier thick hair at the top.
@@chidenisee oh no! I’m sorry to hear that! Is that brand marketing as naturally derived etc?
From my understanding, pure harmony is more of a clarifying shampoo. I follow a diverse set of stylists that use Innersense and I rarely hear them use PH. Most of the black stylists i follow use the Hydrating Hair Bath. I can understand a shampoo being more stripping than expected. But webbing upon first use is very unusual.

@@CammyjOfficial Yes I understand what you experienced. I was just saying that it's very unusual.

Thank you so much for this. I was literally waiting to buy this product.
Hello 👋🏾! You’re welcome. Just sharing my experience. I still can’t believe how this changed my hair.
i used their curl defining foam when it first came out a couple of years ago and had a really bad experience with it. thankfully i haven’t tried any of their other products. but i was always confused because most of the reviews were positive and a lot of hairstylists (including my own) were recommending the brand, and it felt like i was the only one having issues. 😫
Oh wow! How did your hair react to the product?
Happy Monday 💜
Wowww this is wild. Thanks for sharing . Those reviews said alot about the product. Smh

Hello 👋🏾! Yes it’s super wild!!! I still can’t believe it!
Hello 👋🏾! Thank you for watching. I’ve used products with shea butter for years and never had an issue until this shampoo.
Wow!!! I’ve heard several people echo your exact experience!
Thank you so much for the warning Cami! Keep on singing girl! 💖🤗🎶
Hello 👋🏾! Thank you so much for watching! 🎶 🎼 🎵
Be like some shampoos are just dryer or more drying, i usually place conditioner in with it because i know my hair can tangle at times. Webbing i never heard of. Shampoo company needs back to drawing board ❗😬😬😬😬😬
There are many people who love this shampoo. It just didn’t work out for me. Thank you for watching!
Wow.. thanks for letting us know.
I wonder what actual ingredient was the cause. I too have used other products (I won’t name them) and thought it may have been my hair, but discovered it was the product. My hair finally started growing back healthy when I went back to what I normally used.
Sorry to hear you went through a similar situation!!! Another commenter suggested it could be heavily potent oils they use in there products.
I actually use the line and it works amazing on my texlax hair. Everyone is different. Hate you experienced that. I only use the sweet spirit leave in conditioner and the hydrating shampoo
Hello 👋🏾! I’m fine when it comes to their other products, it was just this shampoo that did me in.
@@CammyjOfficial a great shampoo, if you haven’t tried it, is Kerastase curl line…..it’s freakin amazing! Again, I hate that happened to you😕
@@memyselfstef thank you for the recommendation. I will definitely check that out.
@@CammyjOfficial you’re welcome ☺️
Great video and informative. May I ask, what shampoo are you using and how is your hair doing?
Hello 👋🏾! Now I am using influence moisturizing shampoo and miche beauty conditioner. I tried the new FENTY shampoo and conditioner and liked that too. My hair had recovered a lot! Almost 100% back to normal.
Is this hair product Black own?
No it is not.
Oh, well you go…that’s why!!!
However, many black natural hair stylist are selling it and actively recommending it to their clients.
So happy my trust issues kick in during times like this.
Wish they had kicked in for me earlier 😂
This is the 1st time I'm hearing about this shampoo being a gentle cleanser. It was always considered a pretty strong cleanser when I was in CSC.
Bosley hair shampoo saved my hair after a horrible shed after Covid and a high protein hair system. It stopped the shed in a couple of days and I didn’t need a conditioner!
Oh wow!
Oh no! Sorry you experienced this as well.
Recovering from Innersense shampoo hair loss
Hello and thank you for this information! I’m going to look into this.
I noticed the same thing. I started seeing red puss bumps on my scalp. My scalp was irritated and itchy, and my hair was shedding when using their products. My hair changed when I used the shampoo and the conditioner.
Oh no! Sorry you experienced this too.
They have changed the formula!! It used it for years. It was the best. Once they went into Ulta I noticed a difference. It began to irritate my scalp. I stopped using it. I have been loving Cecred by Beyoncé.
Oh wow! I didn’t know they changed the formula
@@CammyjOfficial Yes. I have a very sensitive scalp. Any changes and my scalp will scab up and have excessive dandruff. That’s what I was experiencing with that line. I have never had that before with their products. I switched to Cecred and my scalp went back to normal immediately.
@ShauntayaDavis oh I understand. My scalp also reacts to certain products like that. Several patches of what look like white crust/scabs
@@CammyjOfficial I sure hope so, I threw out all my innersense products smh.
@pinksole_rach I had to get rid of mine too. I’m not taking any more chances!!!)
Please keep us updated
Hello 👋🏾! My hair has pretty much recovered. It took several weeks after stopping use of that shampoo for it to happen. Thank you for watching!
Hi! What did you use to re thicken your hair?
Hello 👋🏾 and thank you for sharing your experience. Is that also an organic hair care line?
The line I used isn't organic, but they do have an organic line.
Thanks for the heads up!
Hello and thank you for watching and taking the time to listen to my story.
I am so sorry that happened. I like and use Nu Gro since 2013
Hello and thank you. I was so sad about it for a while.
I'll stick to the regular degular herbal essence shampoos..... i tried a natural hair product line and my hair was doing excessive shedding like I had just done a chemo treatment. No thank you. I'll stick to the cheap regular hair products because my hair stays on my head with them.
Oh no! So sorry to hear you experienced that. I definitely understand why you feel that way!
Hello 👋🏾! My hair was definitely feeling like hay, so super dry and then I noticed the thinning and shedding.
My friend bought a set of the products and returned the entire set feeling it isn’t made for naturals in the 4 range. Excessively dry.
Any comments/experiences on the Innersense hydrating hairbath???
This line works for me however I never just stick to one line. I always switch it up
Ok so.. firstly… Hi there..

@JOEYDEEZ369 have a beautiful day 💕
@@CammyjOfficial Likewise my dear 🙏🤪
It might not necessarily be the shampoo but rather the black girl curls method- because have been following the methods but not using this shampoo and have had a lot of webbing
It was definitely the shampoo for me.
Yes I used a lot of water when using this Innersense shampoo
Hello 👋🏾! Thank you for the insight. All my products were up-to-date and never expired.
Hello 👋🏾! The stylist told me as long as I followed up their conditioner I was fine to use this shampoo often. I did try their moisturizing shampoo and had no issue with any of their other products.
Beautiful voice. Beautiful lady
Hello 👋🏾! Thank you for the compliment, and thank you for watching!
Have you ever had a similar hair experience with any hair product???
@@mspoochiehu97 I’ve been natural for over a decade. I’ve never had an issue using the same product (shampoo) constantly until now.
@cdub5774 I’m so sorry to hear you went through that! That’s terrible !!
I have never ever heard of this brand. Now I'm curious.😮
Thanks for sharing this video. It was dss suggested I use the I create hold for styling.
Hello 👋🏾 and thank you for watching. Thus far, I’ve only had an issue with this specific shampoo from their line. I do understand anyone’s hesitance to use this line though.
First time I tried their hairbath shampoo I was fine. The second time I had the same experience as you. The entire line is going in the trash.
Hello 👋🏾. Thank you for sharing your experience as well. I’m also stepping away from the entire line.
I know you only mentioned the shampoo but not me just getting the conditioner prime day. Then this video popping up *goes to Amazon and cancels*
I’ve used innersense but it’s been over 2 years
This is said to be a clarifying shampoo already.
*sigh*
Where did you purchase the shampoo from?
I purchased the shampoo from Ulta and the first shampoo bottle from the hair salon directly. None of the shampoos were expired.
Wow 😮 I have not experienced that at all. I use a few of their products without any issues. So sorry that happened to you.
Hello 👋🏾! It was only that shampoo that did that. Thais other products were fine with my hair. I love their hair gel. Thank you for watching!
@@CammyjOfficialThat shampoo is a clarifying shampoo. I don’t think you’re supposed to use it weekly. The one to use weekly is the Hydrating Cream Bath. That’s the moisturizing one to use weekly. Their gel is bomb and stays in the rotation.
Thank you for letting me know. Stylist told me it could be used weekly as long as a followed up with a good conditioner (which I did).
Thanks for sharing ❤

The only shampoo I'm using right now is baby shampoo I ain't able with these new things again they're making you hairless and I'm also using rain water
I looked up the guy who created this line, and because he is bald headed in real life, I would never try his products, period!
The natural hair stylists were recommending it highly
@@CammyjOfficial Girl that's the sad part! I think they are not using all the products that they recommend. I think they have found what is needed for their hair to thrive but not telling us it probably old school stuff like blue magic grease that their mamma used on them since childhood. Remember when Debbie Allen was recommending "Rio"? Said it was so natural you could eat it! Not gone lie, she got me with that! lol
lol yes I remember that 😂😂😂! But seriously, the grease and water were doing WONDERS for our hair. Pink oil moisturizer used to have my hair thriving when my mom used it on my hair.
@@CammyjOfficial I've went back to grease in 2020 because it's cheap and it works for me. Hello and thank you for watching! What hair brands do you like?
U have to use a hydrating shampoo which is what i use after using pure harmony. Innersense is the truth!
The stylist said I didn’t have to do that. She said just follow up with their conditioned, which I did.
PS… I mean natural as in I use stuff on my hair from my pantry.. I feed my hair deliciousness just as I do my body !!
Just so you know ;)’
I have used many products in the 28 years I have been natural.
