Thanks for the brief overview of Frostgrave. I've already order the book and have been eagerly awaiting its arrival when I saw you posted this video. Glad I can get a jump start on learning the game through your great videos.
Ok, this is very cool. Think of all the minis that we have from all the kickstarters. I going to pick up some new wizards, but for the villans, I am all set. Rodney! Very creative choice!
Great video - am going to pick up a copy of the book from my FLGS Entoyment who are starting a campaign from Saturday. I a!ready have some minis i can use from Davenport but they are unpainted - do you think that matters?
It's all up to you! I like using painted minis, but I've very behind in my painting. As long as you can tell the difference between teams though, there shouldn't be any problem using unpainted minis.
Rodney, you’ve given us the name before, but whose videos do you recommend to learn to paint miniatures. I have done it before, but I would appreciate getting some background skills to do even better. Thank you!
I know this is really late, but generally where their is the option of a dagger it's as an extra weapon that increases the model's fight skill by +1. Some Soldiers (like the thief) only have a dagger as standard, and they deal -1 damage because of it.
@@JonathanRenfrogamer Googling, I found this: ospreypublishing.com/gaming-resources-frostgrave?___store=osprey_ca - it does look like their first edition resources require requested access now. That's on the publisher side though, so I don't know how to help further with that, sorry.
Looks like fun but I am opposed on principle to any fantasy game in which all the figures are portrayed as male. It's not a historical game so why not female soldiers? (Also, there have been, historically, female soldiers, just not as many). Boo hiss.
A new plastic box set of female soldiers is coming to Frostgrave in a couple of months. And there are lots of female figures in the metal miniatures line. The artwork in the game itself is pretty balanced male/female.
In addition to what Joe says, I am partly to blame! The miniatures I had painted up were very male focused (though at a distance, it might be hard to tell that the Summoner apprentice is female). Either way the game's cover prominently shows a male and female wizard doing battle and the game is entirely agnostic about the kinds of miniatures you use, so the entire battlefield could be of any gender, and the game would support it. I'm jazzed to hear there is a boxed set of female solider options coming too!
Thanks for replying, guys! I was responding more to the artwork in the book. As shown at least, all the characters were male. I respond mostly to gameplay, theme, etc. when choosing games, but I also look for female representation as I think it's important for male gamers to see. I think it helps them see women and girls as gamers, too, which helps make gaming more welcoming for us. Thanks for being people who care about this, too!
Yes, thank you! I was responding more to the artwork (it would be nice if it were more inclusive). But it still looks like a lot of fun. And it would be hilarious if someone made their entire war band various Barbies or Bratz dolls!
A miniature game that encourages using your own miniatures...
...time to retrive all the Lego toys from the basement! :D
Indeed!
I've done it!
Suiko Ryos holy fuck that is genius!
Not bad, Id only recommend your opponet uses a similar size or you both use bases
Great idea!
You’re a gem for humanity Rodney. Such a good guy, such great content. It’s just so peaceful to watch you explain games. Big hug from Mexico.
Thanks for such a nice comment - greetings back from Canada!

More videos coming soon!
I'm so glad you're making this series! Thanks!
Glad to have you join us!
It is very cool, right? This game would have flown right under my radar.
2.0 on its way. Hope your getting back involved.
Very excited that you're tackling that kind of games.
I enjoy covering a miniatures game from time to time, so glad you're enjoying!
i ipproved this !
Looking forward to this game. Reminds me a little of Mordheim with the building of your unit/team.
Thanks for joining us to check it out!
You always make the best videos.

PS, going to pick up the book and some minis at origins. Hope to see you there.
I will be there! We can talk some Frostgrave :)
Found this game at my local gaming club, nearly beat the guy I played against on my second go. Time to do my homework to beat him next time!
Thanks for checking out the video! Good luck against him in Round 3!
Really helpful
Glad you thought so Steve!

Note the spells linked to look like 1st edition, and a few have changed.
Yes, this was created before a second edition existed.
Too bad you don't do a playthrough. This game looks like fun.
Thanks for checking out the videos anyway - glad to have you here :)
Can you play this just as a roleplaying game ?
The game has role playing elements, but this is a miniatures war game, not a game where a GM guides the players through a story.

That's Sorastro's!
Watch It Played thank you kind Sir!
Helpful... thanks.
So a skyrim RPG tabletop game, Nice. Count me in
im just writing up my first warband and can someone explain the use of a dagger over a sword?
This is less of a rules question, and more of a design question, so I'm not sure I can help with that, but maybe someone else can. Have fun playing!

good job !
Thanks for checking out the video!
Bum ba dum bu da ba bum... Mount & Blade: Warband is linked to this video, lol. Rhodoks ftw!
Yeah, TH-cam makes choices like that sometimes.
I really enjoy this game, even if the dreaded "20" can ruin.. anything.
Glad you've enjoyed this game!
Would you do a video on Mobile Frame Zero. It doesn't have any good how to play videos on it.
Thanks for the interest! I talk a bit about that here: th-cam.com/video/EdtDuvIUa6A/w-d-xo.html&t=342
very nice tutorial, but why are you wearing a cape?
Not sure what you're referring to (or maybe this is a joke that went way over my head).
Frostgrave spells are not working says ask for permission
I wonder if they updated the spells link...
@@WatchItPlayed how would I find out? I got a message I would get a email but never got one

Just use some, my friend has an all female warband. The game has no such limits (or rules).
