The joys of having been busy for a while is that I watch videos like these together, giving extra ideas. So, using your almost all out of game spell casters, who's strategy will be largely based on found grimoires, and could do with spells to hopefully cast in game spells, I feel the library suddenly becomes more useful.
Thanks Jeff! This video ended up needing lots of overlay clips...but the more overlay, the less time the camera's on my face...which means more time I can just read straight from my script during recording and less memorization I have to do! And I figure people would probably rather see pictures, game text, and examples, than stare at my face the whole time.😂
Just discovering the channel, and I gotta say I love it. Great in-depth analysis, plus the genius idea of using Lego as miniatures: absolutely brilliant. I look forward to watching more of your videos, and hope there is more Frostgrave content to enjoy.
I’m glad you found the channel and you’re enjoying it! I’m working on getting some new content released for the channel. Hopefully I’ll have a few more Frostgrave videos coming in the next month or so.👍
And here's Allen, releasing a video where he comes to the exact same conclusions I did when I first cracked the book open LMAO. Glad to see someone agrees with me though, and your analysis was much more in depth than my own gut feelings. I would definitely like to see a follow up video going over the available base add-ons.
😂 I am considering following this up with a discussion on Base Resources! Might be a little while though - it’s been a while since I’ve made a strategy video as long as this one was, and editing took quite a bit longer than I’d planned. 😊
Inns do have one other fringe benefit: if a wizard ends up finding a true name and forging a pact, it makes the "Worship" sacrifice a whole lot more appealing, since you're always going to have an extra soldier back at base camp anyway. Personally, though, I just go with whatever seems thematic.
There's been a slow but steady increase in scenarios and interactive terrain where models need to make Will tests, which has made the Brewery bonus a bit more meaningful over time. Soldiers are using their Will for more than just spell resistance more often these days.
Good to know! The Will stat has really been underutilized for much of the game's life. I honestly haven't kept up with the newer scenarios that have been released. When I get a new book I tend to scour the entire thing except the scenarios - I think that's mostly because I don't want to spoil too much in case I eventually get around to playing them (or because they all seem to meld together in my mind until I finally see them played). 😂
@@bricksblocksgaming8017Certainly true that Stargrave (with its locked loot tokens) has made Will a lot more relevant to gameplay, but 2nd ed FG seems to be slowly course-correcting on that too. Rangers of Shadow Deep has more uses for Will (and other stats like Move) in tests as well. Ghost Archipelago (which is getting to be the red-headed stepchild of the series) doesn't use it much, about on par with early 1st ed FG. Haven't played enough Silver Bayonet to say for sure but the playthroughs and games I've seen seemed tp use Will pretty often, frequently around fear mechanics of one kind or another. McCullough's definitely learning and adapting as time goes by.
@@richmcgee434 adding Will Rolls for Loot was one of my favorite new mechanics with SG. It also helps with that game that there’s more variance with the stat between different Soldier types. I definitely like seeing it used more in FG.
Just discovered the channel, and I’ve been enjoying your Frostgrave content. Trying to figure out where all your scenery bricks come from is consuming be though; I’ve been a LEGO fan for decades, and I don’t recognize a lot of it. Where do you get your bricks for terrain from?
Most of the terrain I use for Frostgrave is Mega Bloks from the Dragon series which came out about 20 years ago. The pieces have a lot more detail than LEGO stuff and really fit well with a gothic/wizardy theme. I splurged on a bunch of the stuff back when I was in college, then found a big used lot off Craigslist right before I launched the channel.
I did see that! I was pretty surprised to see it out of the blue with no previous announcements to my knowledge. I should probably make a post about it…and buy it. 😄
I'm kind of surprised that no additional official Bases have been released (at least to my knowledge). It seems like a really untapped area that Joe could really expand on. I haven't experimented with creating my own and haven't seen any lists of other people's custom hideouts.
😂😂Okay, if I ever get around to doing a video on the Base Resource upgrades, I’ll record something with my bass. I’m more of a background player than lead though, so while I’ve played bass for a long time, my technical skills aren’t super well honed.😄
😄I had actually considered doing some custom intro music for this video, but I figured I’d get too sucked into the music creation process and end up with a very delayed video.

That's true. Definitely raises the stock of that Base!
You've gotten a lot better with the vignette photos. I'm really happy to see the skills you've gained!

How did I miss this one??? GREAT insights as all ways Buddy!!!!!!
Thanks man!

Love your frostgrave content ❤️
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy it!
Great break-down, thanks!
You're welcome, thanks for watching!

That does seem like a good way to get around that missing character. 👍 I agree that thematic is good plan as well.

My warband is staying at brewery these days. I enjoyed the video.
Thanks Monster Painter! The Brewery is a solid choice.

Great video, have you seen Joe has just released Grave Mutations on DriveThruRPG?
I did see that! I was pretty surprised to see it out of the blue with no previous announcements to my knowledge. I should probably make a post about it…and buy it. 😄
Is there an expanded list of bases? Or home brewed lists you like?

I'm with Cronkite, we wanna hear some slap and pop 😊

What, no bass solo??

@bricksblocksgaming8017 Next time don't sweat it, just give us some Jaco!
....your a bass player yet have 6 strings..... 😂 Love the video though 😂🤘
More strings makes it tacti-cool. 😎😄
So what you're trying to say is that you're based?
(Don't worry I'll see myself out)
😄👍
