I said this before and I will say it till I die. Nobody can guard MJ, nobody. Not in today's NBA, not any player ever in the history of the NBA.
Prime Rodman would lock down Lebron. Lock him down to the point Lebron would go to the bench.

Finally someone that gets it!!! It is extremely frustrating when anyone says that any player was better than MJ was one of two things enters my mind because there's only two reasons that someone would say that one they've never watched Jordan play a game or two they've got something against Jordan that's the only two reasons why somebody would say that. I've watched a lot of basketball in my 47 years there has never been anyone that's even close to MJ I would say Kobe was maybe the closest but it's still wasn't the same at all every time I watched Jordan you can't literally even get up and go to the restroom during the game for fear that you will miss something I've never been like that with any other player in any other sport he was must watch TV anytime he was on because you knew he was going to do something so spectacular that you were going to be amazed.... and not only did he possess skills that nobody else did he was an absolute dog and tough as Nails Michael Jordan was literally a one-man Wrecking Crew

This is hands down the best analysis of Jordan I've seen on the internet. I love that you guys have other players that are your favorites but still recognize ....well....reality. Art Monk is my favorite NFL player of all time, and for a short time, he held a bunch of all-time records. But I KNOW Jerry Rice is the receiver GOAT, and I didn't even watch many of his games. And Rice blocked my team from a couple of Super Bowl appearances. I hated him, but I'll stand up for his case for receiver GOAT because I can recognize reality when I see it. I don't have to like something for it to be true.

The level of fear this dude created in his opponents was insane! I once heard him say to a guy while on defense: "If you wanna play, get yourself another ball, that one is mine." About 3 sec later he stole the ball, dunked it and said: "I told you." He was insane on offense AND defense. 9 times all defensive team says enough.

This is the most telling stat. Only 3 players have ever been scoring champ and 1st team all defense in the same year. Jerry West did it once. KOBE did it twice. Jordan did it NINE times. Not only the best offensive player in the league but the best defensive player At his position as well. GOAT

The most athletically blessed athlete as a basketball player AND….fundamentally sound. Back then when you drove the lane it was physical as hell…especially compared to today’s NBA game. Jordan dunked on everyone. All the great shot blocking centers were posterized at one time or another. Manute Bol, Alonzo Mourning, David Robinson, Patrick Ewing, Mark Eaton, Tim Duncan, Robert Parish, John Salley etc…were victims at the rim. You could put together a 10 minute highlight on just dunking on Bill Lambeer. LOL

You forgot absolutely focused and determined to be better than everyone at everything and a almost psychopathic mentality and drive to win the game...😂 other than that perfectly well said sir!! Then when you decide to combine all these attributes into one person that is how you get the G.O.A.T. All the others are lacking in this very last attribute of shear determination and will power.... You don't see anyone else playing with food poisoning and calling it a flu.... And you definitely never seen Jordan lazily kick at a ball going past him instead of diving for it(like Lebron multiple times) Also tried to make his teammates better to the point of punching them in the face.... I mean like I said psychopathic determination to win..... The only others I can think of is Kobe and Bird...

I was on the side line looking down the baseline right behind the Knicks bench one year. (Best seats I ever had) I watched him drive the base-line, he jump to his left about 10 feet from the basket, kicked his legs and changed direction in mid air to lay it up at the front of the rim against Pat, Oakley and Smith. I didn't comprehend what I was seeing. I'll never forget all those games.

MJ & LeBron are the 2 best players ever, agreed? I hope you do. Of course LeBron is going to have more total points because he played 20 seasons. Michael played just 15 seasons. If he didn't retire 3 different times, then maybe he would have the most points. None-the-less, MJ is still the GOAT. I think breaking Kareem's lead in points is huge for LeBron. But MJ winning 10 Scoring Titles to just 1 for LeBron is so lopsided, it's the main reason I feel that MJ is better than anyone in NBA History.

  • @jamesl715
    @jamesl715 ปีที่แล้ว +14

FYI a vertical leap is defined by a standing jump. So if Jordan’s vertical was 48 in that means that’s how high he could jump standing still without a running start. So he would be well above 48 inches off of the ground.

    • @szaret1
      @szaret1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I think mj is the most athletic bball player in history but he does not have a standing or running 48 inch vertical. He’s 6,6. Standing 48 inch puts his head 6 inches above the rim
That being said he’s prob got like a 45 inch cause he was getting his head to the rim jumping WITH the ball in his hands. So without and if he really tried to just go straight up he’s def getting a few inches above. And if he trained specifically for jumping he might creep close to 50. But that would mean sacrificing speed and quickness. Like a lot of the 50 inch dunkers aren’t fast cause all they focus on is vertical. You can’t have the best of both

    • @jamesl715

Shaq, Barkley, & Alonzo Mourning were my favorites in the early 90's; AI, KG, & Grant Hill in the late 90's. NBA fans in my area never chose Jordan as our favorites, because it was never a fair comparison. MJ & Wilt sat at god tier and we debate about other players. All I know is I thank God I was 14 when MJ started his NBA career , at that time not all games were on TV but didn’t miss a game that was on TV. I got to watch the greatest player ever and him do thing I will never see any player do again in my life time it was an honor privilege and an absolute joy to watch that Man play ball and I loved every minute of it. I watched Magic Johnson, James Worthy, Kareem Abdul-jabbar, Larry Bird Shaq, Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter, Akeem, Olajuwon, Patrick Ewing, Karl Malone, John Stockton Gary Payton, Shawn Kemp, Charles Barkley, Reggie Miller, Dominique Wilkins, Clyde Drexler, Isaiah Thomas, Tim Duncan, David Robinson, LeBron James, Kevin Granett, Kevin Durant & a number of others I didn’t mentioned & all great in there own right. None compare to that man’s game and I also miss the physicality of those games, the Bulls vs New York Knicks the Bulls vs Detroit Pistons the Bulls vs Indiana Pacers games & no player & his team pushed Jordan to a 7th elimination game in the finals. Only two times in his six championship runs did he get pushed to a 7th elimination game Patrick Ewings, New York Knicks, and 92 in the Eastern conference semifinals & 98 Eastern conference finals against Reggie Miller, and his Indiana Pacers out of 24 series played in those six champion chip runs flat out incredible. If I could go back in time to rewatch that dude I would over and over and over again he was that good entertaining dominant with a kill determination and never took the night off even sick. He was determined to be MJ every night so every night when you watched him play guaranteed scored 25 points or more & his defense and that was his bad night that’s most people‘s career high. It was good possibility you would get to watch him score 45 to 60 and all his crazy moves it was fun to watch it live.

It'd be so interesting if some ultra-stats nerd started looking at a player's every shot and rating them a degree of difficulty and then used that to adjust other stats such as shooting %. Not to mention points for style, cuz it was downright living art at times with MJ.

Some of the things he did.....damn! People are now getting their heads above the rim now on a regular basis. MJ was doing that 30 plus years ago! He has actually hit his head on the rim and the backboard many times! Even in this video, you can see one dunk in the dunk contest where he literally ducks his head under the rim. Anyway, great review!

What is LeBron James Max vertical jump?
Image result for lebron james vertical jump record
      44 inch
#4 LeBron James, AKA King James
Bottom Line: James' 44 inch (4 inches less than Jordan's) vertical leap puts the top of his head a full 4 inches above the rim and only two inches lower than His Airness. This takes into account James' 2 inch height advantage over Jordan.

A couple of other reactions you might enjoy and lend even more to how good Jordan was is a video about before Jordan even played one NBA game his Olympic team (coached by Bobby Knight in 1984) routinely beat NBA all stars. There's a video of it. I think the Olympic team, which had Jordan played NBA all stars 8 games and won them all I believe, and these are players like Magic and Bird, so it wasn't just any NBA player that were competing on that team. There's also a video of a retired Michael Jordan showing to a Bull's practice to put a rookie that was trash talking how he'd beat Jordan in his place. Jordan plays him 1 on 1 and destroys him. Good reaction, and good touch stopping for a second to read the stats. You talk about Jordan in big games, you're right about that, none of the NBA finals Jordan ever played in even went to 7 games. He won them all in 6 games or less.

There were so many things, the challenges MJ went through and overcame, as well as the mass hysteria during his career that you won't find in any videos anywhere. What a great time to be alive and experience the greatness of Jordan on a daily basis. He was globally #1 star and athlete of his time, without the luxury of the internet. He made millions of people that had no interest in basketball become fans of basketball, fans of his. It was just simply mind-boggling. Most of his highlight videos out there are only the tip of the iceberg and just a sampling size of his games day in day out. Just one of his games highlights would be a career highlight tape of most other NBA players... MJ is Da GOAT all in a universe his own, untouchable !!!!!!!

Best "Bron fan - MJ video" reacts I've seen..
You both know what your talking about, very fair and accurate assessment of everything I heard.
Glad some people still have own players, but can see others maybe better..
Put Bird in a fresh body or in say, MJ or Wilts body... No debates to be had..
    I personally think anyhow.
But as it stands, MJ for individual talent.
Wilt, no one questions was an athletic freak ...just couldn't seem to mould it into all rounded perfect game.
Maravich for the stuff he could do..with MUCH tighter dribbling, traveling, charging rules ect..
I personally think if media put as much spin into curry as they do for LeBron...he would be more popular and widely known as modern 'Greatest Atm' (or in recent years).
Bron and his system work for lottery teams to get competitive, but not enough to win chips without getting all stars to be role players for him..
Then teams destruct when he leaves.
I can't respect him as I do Curry.
    With Nephew on that one.

Steph Curry to me is like a super powered Rip Hamilton. He is always moving and out lasting the man who is guarding him thanks to superhuman endurance but, with the added advantage of unlimited 3 point range, which is something Rip was just barely above average with. Most young guys don't realize Jordan ran a 4.3 40. The guy was a speed demon. Most of his breakaways were not from slacking off on defence. They were because he would rip the ball or pull a board and outrun everyone else while having the ball back down the court. He was one of the flat out fastest players in the history of the NBA.

A lot of other reactions by yung-uns on the MJ vs Bron thread had me thinking there is a serious disconnect between what the younger generations sees and what their brains actually register. You see these guys reaction to replays now, stop to imagine what it was like seeing his play firsthand and in person. The Bulls were like rock stars, meaning the worst teams in the league sold out their stadiums when the Bulls came to their cities. In Chicago, where I am from, tickets to home games were some of the hardest tickets to get in the nation. Hell, even players on the team, other than MJ, caught hell getting extra tickets and often went to MJ to get them for their families and friends.

But, I have always considered Michael Jordan to be the GOAT. And I think that's the key difference between people who consider Jordan to be the GOAT, vs people who consider Lebron to be the GOAT. The only people who consider Lebron the GOAT are die-hard Lebron fans. But people who consider Michael Jordan to be the GOAT were not necessarily fans of him when he played. Most people I know who consider Jordan to be the GOAT, despised him since he always killed their teams, especially in the playoffs...lmao
