I am 100% aligned with you in that the 1st week of the game was great…. and then they changed it. My suspicion is that the average player base was complaining that the game was “harder” and they implemented changes without announcing them. They absolutely screwed the game incredibly early in the game’s cycle, and as a result, people put the game down entirely or play a fraction of the time they used to
This is exactly what happened in mlb 20, the first weeks of the game pre patch was the best mlb game since 16, it was the first year of perfect perfects and dare I say the game almost felt “perfect”
I keep saying I want historical post season storylines like 2004 and 2016 where you can introduce new legends but also highlight ones we already have and also let baseball fans go back in time
that would be so sick. a 2004 99 postseason Beltran, a Lidge, an Ortiz, a Pedro, a 2009 Hideki, a 2011 Freese, 2015 Daniel Murphy, etc. i can see all the sick ass cards rn. could even stagger them to follow season power creep. like give multiple historic postseason storylines that start with golds maybe and go up to 85s, 87s, 89s, 91s, etc
Storylines take too much budget out of sds, I think. I would sacrifice not having it at all or reducing it so we have better modes, legends, and/or constant updates. The storylines are cool, but nobody would care if it didn't exist, especially if it gives or leaves more to the things that actually matter. Also, them making every negro league card not usable doesnt help at all. They should've gone up along with the power creep at the moment of release
I think they tie it to diamond dynasty because they think people won't go into it if there is no incentive. If it is just the story part and no card at the end, I do think a percentage of people wouldn't do it. I just wish it was a better card at the end because I believe out of everything, I think storylines is the one mode they nailed. Even the Jeter story line, I was not a fan of jeter when he played, but after watching his story and see what he was able to accomplish on one of the most storied franchises, one can't help to be impressed. So if anything I have alot more respect for what he was able to do on such a consistent basis.
I think the Jeter storyline question was a bait for u to mention Arod… but I like the idea of gettin new legends and makin a story line wit them , or with the Negro league cards , after unlocking them give us a program or conquest map or something where we can use those cards to maybe even unlock better versions of them .
Kenny, I would have loved if they did a Storylines celebrating the 20th anniversary of my beloved Red Sox breaking the curse ... I think a single season translates VERY well to this kind of format, and it would be a perfect way to introduce new legends like Varitek, Trot Nixon and, of course, the return of Nomar ... Its pretty clear to see SDS and Sony are taking the madden/2k/fifa blue print and they are making that the way we play the show now. People think SDS is being lazy. They are not. They are being deliberate, which is honestly worse. Whether its SDS or Sony making this decision, we dont know. But its very obvious that all the questionable game decisions are intentional
I played madden and 2k way before I ever got into the show. I got into the show bc it seemingly took skill to win and the content was great. Now the game takes way less skill and the content is terrible. This is all too familiar to me. SDS is going to milk this structure and deliver empty promises for years to come. Having choices for what you can do in the show was what separated it from other sports games. Having a mode similar to the NBA 2K stage where u can wager stubs per game is a great idea that can easily be done. Can be co op style or 1v1. Problem is that if there’s a freeze off it would be annoying.

I think they should have a mode where it’s an actual season win a certain amount of games make the playoffs then win WC, DS, CS, and WS for a nice reward of some kind i think that would give seasons a more meaningful boost right now it’s so stale you either just grind the program or go super try hard for WS rank which most people don’t enjoy this game on HOf or legend difficulty to care enough to even grind for it and it’s not rewarding enough to even care.
It’s kind of hard to figure out a new game mode for baseball except weekend league, but I think if they just give us better rewards and a reason to play beyond a certain rating that could work. A salary cap mode could be cool too. Increase the cap as better players come out so it’s actually playable throughout the cycle. Remove seasons. Remove the xp cap. If they’re worried about people accessing high ovr early, just replace those spots with vouchers and make them redeemable when the time is right like 2 overalls below whatever that card is. Bring back the old POTM program. The topps now is so useless especially when the overalls are much lower than other obtainable cards.

Explain just what in the hell bots are doing in a baseball game or if it’s even true.. p.s. i’ve also experimented with dual wan load balancing routers that also allow me to experiment with different servers And I don’t know if the excellent latency that I’m now receiving is what’s making me think gameplay is better but I’ve never in in my seven years of MLB been so impressed. I played with the confidence knowing I was not going to be beat. Tknx

Bottom line -- Storylines need to be removed from MLB The Show. First of all - The Negro League stuff is so good and so limitless, it should be its own game/experience. A smaller $30-$40 dollar release that focuses solely on Bob Kendrick telling stories, Negro League History, and a recreation of how the Negro Leagues worked. They could have as many or as few other features, game modes, etc as they want, but it would let "The Show" team focus on their game that needs serious work, and give The Negro Leagues its own team allowing it the attention it deserves... instead of making it a buried add on to another, bigger game. Also, knowing that it was a 3 year deal that is ending after The Show 25 makes me wonder "what could have been?!?". Instead of dribbling it out in this Storyline mode that is sort of half ass...other than Kendrick's story telling, of course -- Why didnt they take the 3 years to put together an unforgettable, one time, mode, releasing all the content at once. Making it such a spectacle, that it would be forever associated with "The Show 25" - Selling copies of that particular game, for years. It would have been special. Instead...even doing it 2 years in a row, in its current incarnation, has caused it to feel less than special. I bet less players finished it this year than last year....and even less will finish it next year. SDS had some good ideas but the execution has been far too pedestrian for what should be historic content. The Jeter Storyline was AMAZING....but stupid. Im a Yankees fan and love Jeter, but first of all, it should have been in last years game when he was ON THE COVER of the super fancy version. Second, Its clear they dont have the talent or time to do Storylines the right way, and also get the game right, so Storylines needs to go. Id venture most people dont touch them anyway. Which will ALWAYS be the case. There is too much work needed on the core gameplay & modes of the franchise, to be distracted by ANYTHING else. Just my humble opinion, sir. Cheers!
I totally disagree. I work full time and every other weekend. 12 hour shifts. I like the event layout now because I don’t have to play in only 3 weekend days. That ruins the opportunity for some people to earn the rewards.

I really don't watch modern Baseball in all honesty, these new players just aren't entertaining. I miss the 90's and early to mid 2000's era players back then had swag you wanted to play as them. Been playing the Show since Papi was on the cover used to play religiously but I can't get past 2 months playing this game anymore just too lackluster and boring.

First week of gameplay had the promise of what would come. We didn't realize it was as saturated with programs pre-release as it would stay.
