The lack of visual improvement is frankly ridiculous. Combined w/ the almost half decade standstill of key modes, unfinished additions at launch, while SDS never answering for it is unacceptable. These types of reviews help foster the sports gaming environment we have now.
So quit being the clowns doing the same shit every year by buying it. That’s insanity. There’s things called boycotts for a reason. Why keep funding stuff for you to bitch about. You can bitch about it without paying them 😂
People comparing this to Madden is a joke. Things might not change much, but it is a MILLION times better than Madden. Because unlike Madden with football, tons of awful glitches, the game of baseball itself is played pretty damn good in the show.
While I thought MLB the show has been miles ahead of Madden in bringing the sport to your house, I played 21 and then 23 last year and there was not much change I could feel. Same as Madden does of copy paste that is where the comparisons start and it is not a good thing.
No way why do something actually creative when we can all experience our childhood fantasies of playing as a woman to be the first ever female mlb player, I mean yeah I understand I’m horrendously sexist and misogynistic for this take but wow this was genius idea and warranted the time and money to cater to the 20 girls who actually play the show or sports games in general. I didn’t want more RTTS features or franchise overhauls I want to be able to look back when I’m old and say I was there when the show 24 wrote literally a fictional story and 50 years later….theres still not a single women who even came close to making it but the show showed me how inclusive they are and why I should care about this topic, hell if one of the most iconic baseball figures (what’s her name) was excited to do it well then we better damn listen
@@seaniveroni5579yeah san diego studios is making ea look competent and also at least ea finally after a decade is finally bringing back the training drills from the ps2 days but with the show sds has taken the ea approach and removed everything that made franchise the deepest season simulation in sports games I mean even this year they removed the freaking inside the show recap that's been in the game for years but they were too lazy to bring it back or too cheap or both. Madden isn't good but it's slowly becoming better than the show only from a franchise standpoint though and based on the last several years that's something I never thought I'd say sds has fell so low.
i mean other than gameplay changes, how much change are you expecting from a game that realeases every year. its not much about sports that change every year in real life other than the players
So I just got my RTTS pitcher to diamond yesterday. To be honest the pitching feels exactly the same at diamond in the majors as it did at bronze in AA. It's feels incredibly scripted. Like the first two strikes are almost guaranteed. Then with two strikes the NPCs just foul off everything close to the zone, and spit on EVERYTHING outside. Almost every at bat starts at an 0-2 count then goes for a 9 pitch at bat because of fouls. It's feels horrible to play long term. Considering this is RTTS, I doubt it will get fixed.
I’m a huge franchise player my big issue is the lack of radio show after advancing a day allowing to hear what is happening around the league that was in last years games and for years prior. I hate March to October because you are stuck with default rosters, some of the biggest players are Japanese players coming over but they can’t be added until after they played a game and because San Diego studios wants more players money they restrict and don’t allow custom rosters, hey, if you don’t want to give rewards for people with custom rosters at least give the option. I think this is a huge L. I’m not hating on female players in road to the show but they still only have male ball boys in the stadiums, especially at citizens bank where it’s always been ball girls in the outfield not boys . It would be nice to update that too. I found my first several games as they were home run contests but in the last few there have been a lot more doubles and triples. I’m also not sure they dealt with bigger bases making it slightly easier to steal. But it’s too early for my judgement on that. Graphically the menu system reminds me of all star baseball 2004 with its design and such, it’s definitely not a negative, I enjoy seeing it. I do agree it’s a bit bright. I also think it would be a huge win if they could try to figure out a way to get licensing for Japanese leagues and teams and a few other leagues, have some international signings and stuff that make sense to grow things . Personally it would be a huge bonus instead of constantly looking backwards, let’s completely look at the depth of world baseball
One of my favorite parts about each new game is moving the A's out of Oakland to a completely random city in a custom ballpark and building them up from complete embarrassment to the newest league dynasty. Sorry, A's fans.
San Diego Studios needs to take a 5 -year break in putting out MLB The show. and just reboot the whole thing in that 5 year period. Its Presentation needs a complete overhaul in my opinion. It’s gotten so stagnant, everything about it needs to change. Here are just some things that need to change and/or be added (BTW: all this can off the top of my head so a lot more could be added) 1. Broadcasting: • They need to separate the two broadcasting styles when it comes to 'the show style' (AKA: The MLB The Show version of ESPN) and 'regional' (AKA: MLB The Show’s style of each team's broadcasting). If they do that, they should have just one pair for 'the show style' and 30 separate pairings for each team's broadcasts. That way, it would seem more authentic. If broadcasters from each team did the game, they would not only have more facts about the teams and the players, but they would also know each other better, so the games would have a more conversational style of broadcasting than what is currently happening. You can tell that the two are doing their recordings separately right now. Not only that, there would be fewer lines repeated over and over (I’m a Braves fan. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard the fact that Max Fried plays MLB The Show before he pitches a game; it’s pathetic). • Like in GTA III, where you can only unlock more of the map the further you get into the story, they need to do that with the commentary as you progress through the season. • The only time you see “The MLB Show style” broadcasting is during the game of the week. Otherwise, the only type of broadcasting you can choose from is the two-broadcasting style of the two teams. 2. Before the game: • Show the players in the clubhouse finishing putting on their uniforms, show a coaches' meeting, and show the visiting team arriving at the ballpark. • Show fans arriving at the game, tailgating, entering the stadium, walking around the ballpark, getting food/drink, buying merchandise, getting to their seats, taking selfies, etc. • Show pre-game events such as fans being on the jumbotron, fans asking for autographs by the field, batting practice, the national anthem, and the flyover. • Show coaches giving the batting lineup to the umpire, show on-field warm-ups, as well as players talking to each other. 3. As the game begins: • Introduce the pitcher as he is doing his last warm-up pitches, then show the standard throw to second base. • Introduce the umpires by naming them and go around the diamond to show who is at each base. • Show whose on defensive on screen • Show the lineup. 4. During the inning: • Check swing: If it’s checked at first/third, once the umpire calls it, have a replay to see if the umpire was right, wrong, or too close to call. • Show a replay of a foul ball hitting the umpire or catcher. • On foul balls: have replays of ball boys/girls and fans making catches. Cut to ball boys/girls giving foul balls to fans in the stands or running out onto the field to retrieve the ball. If a bat gets broken by a foul ball, show the batter walking to the dugout to get a new bat, with a replay of the bat breaking. • On a ball or strike: If it’s a close call, show a replay with a graphic of the plate and the strike zone, or if it's way out of the strike zone, show the batter stepping out of the box in disbelief. • On a close call: show the dugout reacting to the umpire's call, with the option for the player or manager to argue with the umpire, potentially leading to the manager/player getting thrown out of the game. Then show them leaving the dugout. • Show dugout interactions between players and coaches. • Show the ball boy giving more balls to the home plate umpire. • For a no-doubter home run, show not just the swing but also the fan catching the ball. • For a great play on the field, instead of immediately showing the next batter, show players praising the player who made the play, and during the next batter's at-bat, show his stats. • If there's an error, cut to the player who made the error showing frustration. • In case of an injury, show the injury, the medical team checking on the player, and if the player needs to leave the game, show him walking off the field. • cut to fans getting happy or depressed by a play or a lead change(example: cut to a fan who had the same expression of how the woman looked like after the soler HR in game 6 of the 2021 WS) 5. End of the inning: • Show the batter doing their usual routine while the opposing team walks off the field: tossing down their helmet and gloves or handing them over to the first base coach or ball boy. 6. Between innings/changing of pitchers: • Have a short, fun little one 15-30 second commercial, then return with, showing the city, outside the stadium, fans interacting while the inning is about to start (the usual break between innings.) 7. Travel day: • Show the teams entering either a bus or plane.
@@Garcusmarvey I've drove deeper. I've looked at how to write video game gameplay on script, and here's a little bit of what I've come up with(I wrote all this today): Charging the mound: Broadcaster 1: Here comes the pitch. The ball hits the batter. Broadcaster 2: Ouch, that's going to leave a mark. Another Braves batter taking one for the team. That’s the third braves batter to be hit tonight. Broadcaster 1: Yeah, this is getting real for the Braves. The batter slams his helmet on the ground, the loud thud echoing across the field. Striding down the first baseline, his pace is deliberate and controlled, his eyes narrowing in frustration at the pitcher. A tense silence settles on the field, broken only by the sound of cleats scraping against dirt. The pitcher senses the batter's glare, his focus unwavering. The catcher positions himself strategically, ready to intervene if needed. The air is charged with anticipation, each player's body language speaking volumes about the brewing confrontation. Broadcaster 2: Just look at his demeanor, he's not backing off. You can see that determination in his eyes. Player Choice Prompt: Hold L2 to charge. With a surge of adrenaline, the batter charges the mound, his determination palpable in every step. The pitcher, taken aback by the sudden aggression, braces himself for impact, his eyes widening in surprise. Quick cuts show fans' POVs from different parts of the stadium as the batter, fueled by anger, charges the mound with determination etched on his face. The camera captures the rapid shifts in emotions among the fans: some gasp in shock, others leap to their feet with excitement, while a few cover their mouths in disbelief. The sound of cheering and jeering blends into a chaotic symphony, echoing through the stands. As the tension mounts, the fans' energy becomes palpable, creating a charged atmosphere that electrifies the entire stadium. Broadcaster 1 (V.O.): Hold on to your hats, folks! Things are about to get interesting! Back on the field. Player Choice Prompt: Press and hold down R3 to tackle. Press L1 or R1 to punch. The batter swings, showing his frustration, his muscles tensed with each aggressive motion. His eyes lock onto the pitcher, a mix of anger and determination burning in his gaze. Meanwhile, the pitcher, fueled by adrenaline and a desire to retaliate, unleashes a powerful swing, mirroring the batter's intensity. Player Choice Prompt: Press L1 or R1 to punch. As the confrontation escalates, tensions spill over, and the benches and bullpen start to clear. Players rush onto the field, their expressions ranging from concern to determination. Coaches and umpires quickly intervene, trying to restore order amidst the chaos. The sound of cleats pounding against the turf fills the air as players from both teams converge, exchanging heated words and gestures. The crowd's roar grows louder, adding to the intensity of the moment. Cameras capture every angle of the unfolding drama, from players being held back to others trying to defuse the situation. It's a scene that epitomizes the raw emotions and competitive spirit of the game. Broadcaster 2: This game is turning into a real slugfest! It's getting intense out there. Broadcaster 1: No kidding. Let's take a quick break and give these teams a chance to catch their breath. We'll be back with more action shortly. Bullpen call: Player Action: The player decides to pause the game. Action Sequence: The player decides to pause the game by pressing the Options button on the controller. Using the directional buttons, the player navigates to the manager option on their own. The player selects the manager option by pressing the X button on the controller. Within the manager menu, the player scrolls through options using the directional buttons. The player selects the bullpen option by pressing the X button on the controller. In-game, a shot of the dugout and the bullpen phone appears on screen. An X shows on the bullpen phone. Player Choice Prompt: Hold X to call bullpen. pitching coach walks over and uses the phone. Cut to bullpen. The bullpen coach is on the phone with the pitching coach. Player Choice Prompt: Press[left/right/up/down] on controller to circle through Relief Pitchers Press X to select pitcher. Bullpen coach points to pitcher selected. When it comes to seeing the reliever getting ready, A batter or two later or at the beginning of the next inning we cut to bullpen, and for the first time seeing the pitcher warm up(seeing how close they are at being ready) with commentary by the broadcasters mentioning the pitcher. switch hitter: Player Action: The player decides to pause the game. Action Sequence: The player decides to pause the game by pressing the Options button on the controller. Using the directional buttons, the player navigates to the manager option. The player selects the manager option by pressing the X button on the controller. Within the manager menu, the player scrolls through options using the directional buttons. The player selects the substitute batter option by pressing the X button on the controller. In game, the dugout appears with all the players on the team. Player Choice Prompt: Press[left/right/up/down] on controller to circle through players available to switch hit. Press X to select player. Manager calls to the player selected. The player gets up and grabs his batter equipment. cut to the broadcast saying that the team is doing a switch hit and show player walking up to the plate.
I am a franchise only guy. You hit the nail on the head with the biggest problem. I try to keep my trades realistic, but the computer trades don’t make sense. Signing a player to a huge deal(making them your cornerstone) and then they are on the trade block. Putting rookies that are in the top 10 of an organization into the trading block. I get that some of these guys are traded, but only if they are included in a huge deal. Don’t just dangle them out there and then watch them get traded for two relievers. They need to mark teams Contenders or Rebuilding based on their record. A rebuilding team is not trading away last years number one pick for a starter when they are in last place. If they fixed trade logic and made the GM’s actually smart on the CPU teams it would make the mode amazing. I was hoping for it to get better in 24, but I have already seen stupid things. Example: Astros sign Soto(I guess the Yankees didn’t want him🤷). He signs a really small deal, like 5 years for 108 million. I get to the trade deadline and there he is. It makes no sense.
Fortunately for me, I have a tradition of only buying an MLB game every other even year, starting with Major League Baseball on the NES (yes, I'm in my 40s). So the last game I bought was MLB The Show 20 for PS4. This game has been a pretty big update for me. The Show 24 is what I'll be playing for the next four years, so I'll be taking my time with it. He's to MLB The Show 28. If the United States still exists by then, and I'm still alive.
I wonder if we’ll ever have each team’s game announcers in the game. It would be great to toggle between Yankees TV broadcast announcers and Yankee radio broadcast announcers, for example. I understand it would take a considerable amount of time to obtain a sufficient amount of recordings from all the broadcasters, along with paying each of them. However, instead of spending time and money adding features that don’t exist in real life (Looking at you, ladies) it would be nice to see them crystallize areas such as the broadcast and the presentation.
havent bought since 2019 i think and man it feels like the series has gone massively downhill everything is worse commentary, controls modes like everything that made it immersive and realistic has been stripped out it was so disappointing when booting up the game the first thing i was greeted with was microtransaction garbage it just made me sad and was the moment i finally felt affected by the decline of aaa games i have been playing since day 1 and the 2006 entry felt more exciting than 24 entry the commentary blew my mind it was so cool hearing things that I never would have expected cant think of specific example but it felt like they were at least all recording lines in the booth together the commentary here is just chopped up and jumbled thats not even matching whats happening on screen so sad to see how little has improved and how much worse it feels in just 5 yrs since i last played im just sad ive loved this franchise since 06 i remember skipping school to go pick it up and playing it on launch day now im just left feeling like its time to skip the series and let it go i dunno i might give it another go but after 2 hrs i dont think im gonna feel any different also as a female gamer seeing the female added is just hilariously out of place talk about immerision breaking lol like yeah imagine a chick in a mens locker room surrounded by dongs and then getting mad whining about sexism / mosoginy bs when they ask to see her tits "tit for tat as they say" 😂
MLB the show 24 in a nutshell.. Give women who never play this game a brand new story line to play while the guys who have played this since its creation get nothing but the same RTTS every year..
I was thinking about this, instead of shoe horning women into the same league as the men. Why not tell the history of the women's league back in the WWII era, like the movie, 'league of their own'. I find far more interesting than putting a woman into Road to the show mode. Just a thought, I think that would be really cool.
Gotta stay pandering to avoid doing any work. Not one person asked for this feature. It’s always awesome too to listen to TH-camrs talk about just how insanely awesome this feature is. Usually how I tell who is being authentic.
And the fact that storylines are just moments that take about an hour to complete, makes me wonder if the people praising these additions know how little gameplay they actually include
@@Sweatybaseballs its largely been the same game since they came out with this mode. I'm not a fan of nba 2k but at least there's an actual career mode. San Diego Studios are just lazy and never wanna do anything to make the game better. But they spent all their budget on a mode that nobody asked for in the slightest
Women being added would have been fine if we got a similar story with a rival or friend that we would play against. Expand on it that he’s a pitcher if you are a position player and vice versa if you’re a pitcher
Picked up 22 in november and 23 in jan, then 24 now. Played those a ton, primarily RTTS. 23 ->24 feels like a much larger upgrade over 22->23 so I give them credit. However, still a lot to do to improve immersion. My primary problem is that I cant switch to watching the game or watch at bat results in tense moments. For some bizarre reason they took that out after 22. When im in game 7 of the world series I want to see every pitch in the 8th or 9th inning not just a result screen. Overall though I think the video understated the improvement feel for a RTTS player, it is at least 3x better than the previous years improvement.
They have no incentive to change as people still continue buying this game and even defending that’s it’s looked identical for years now. I’m not buying it this year.
I like how they changed the pinpoint pitching, it seems more competitive now. The hitting and camera angles are very nice too. The visuals not being that good is pretty sad though (hopefully it’ll get fixed soon after some updates). I like it so far but just because it launched on gamepass, I don’t think I’d spend $60 on this game
I can't even play RTTS. I made a power RF, went through the batting practice and fielding drills and then it froze on the menu. I closed out and went back in and it had no saved data. Cool, whatever, I'll just make a new character. Now any change that involves using the 4 square box will not change (i.e. skin tone, glute size) and when I try to continue anyway it freezes
So are you able to max out attributes. It's some BS if not, we can suspend disbelief for women to play but somehow a 5 tool Superstar is out of the question
I look forward to this every year. Picking it up Friday on day off. Even if it doesn’t change much I love RTTS and get into it each year. Also march to October.
I would’ve rated this game about a 7 when it released, but it’s down to a 4 and dropping fast. XP caps, visual glitches, lack of change, etc, etc, etc. Some people praise things like the Derek Jeter Storyline, but doesn’t it make sense that it was likely supposed to come out in last year’s game but they never finished it? Derek Jeter was on one of the covers and was a new legend to the game.
What is the best sport simulation? NBA2K, FIFA, Madden, MLB, or NHL I'm not taking about Ultimate team, Park, or any microtransactions modes involving cards.
I would definitely have to say that NBA, 2K 24 beats every other sports game by a good margin. It just pisses me off that in order to get anywhere in the game, they make you come out of pocket to upgrade your player. Otherwise it takes a decade to get your player any good. i’m not even a basketball fan, but yeah NBA 2K for sure takes that trophy
As much as NBA2K has been praised, as a sports fan I still go with the show as far as simulation goes, I’m biased on this due to being horrible with the analog sticks. Without sacrificing some movement like in 2K by removing the analog sticks, the show stands out for me but what do I know🤷♂️
NBA2K is the best simulation by far in my opinion, from player/ball physics and movements/interactions on the court, also simulating being an nba player from in depth team practices/workouts and the most in depth mycareer of all the sports games. MLB being distant second in my opinion, because the only simulation aspect is the on field player movements/interactions. I don’t play FIFA/NHL enough to form an opinion. Madden shouldn’t even be in a discussion of simulation anything, I’ll maybe give it graphics but that’s a literal drop in the bucket of what makes something simulation.
I'm most curious about stat progression in RTTS; in '23 for instance, you could give attention to fastball pitch velocity and even though the stat increased "on paper", there was no actual uptick in pitch speed. This was a known issue that SSD just seemed to ignore.
They should start doing campaign modes kinda like they did with the negro league campaign in ‘23 but it’d be sick to actually play whole seasons like franchise mode with historical teams rather than just little challenge levels.
I wish franchise allowed you to play with friends and have an online connected franchise such as that in Madden. It would be so much fun, I have no clue why this is not in the game.
CAS needs a lot more. Its basically copy and paste. The fact that we still cant move bullpens off the field, adjust foul territory, build domes and flip and mirror seating areas to line up correctly is a joke. But hey....we got spaceships, space ports, air craft carriers etc etc..."eye roll"............
If I got to be honest I feel like they turned off the cap for bat speed so yes Road to the Show maybe the same what the bat speed going over 120 mph more than makes up for it because it can lead to home runs or extra base hits making it somewhat easier to grind
I was a little hyped with the new commentary in 22 as it was getting stale and was nice to hear new lines. Now three years later the lines are the same as they were in 22
I see allot of people speaking on the visuals haven’t changed much the last few years or so and I agree, hopefully these sport games cut loose last gen consoles like College Football 25 is doing this year, maybe we will see some game engines change and visuals and physics will be better. I’ve been enjoying the show 24 haven’t played since The Show 16.
Its the same game every year... They have to patch the same things every year, and they still to this day pretend like half of the ball has to be in the strikezone for it to be a strike.. Thats fundamentally wrong and stupid.
I do enjoy this game. I might pick it up once the price is 50% off. I love how they have the woman in road to the show now but they could do so much more in road to the show similar to NBA 2K. I’ve been gaming for a long time, and one of the older baseball Sim games had a feature I loved which was super fans I would also enjoy more decisions that are player can affect how fans like or not how his teammates like him and perhaps more interactions with current players again just like how NBA 2K did we players would come in play on your home court something like that
Yeah im mixed on the female thing because i played some one with one woman on his team and it reminds me im playing a game it kind of takes me out of it and i couldn't get her out 😭
My wife, who was at the game when Jeter made that catch diving into the stands in '04, would go straight to The Captain's storyline before she touched that female story mode. Stop pretending women bought this in droves. Just like every other viture signal this one was used to coverup inadequacies somewhere else in the product.
Cool I’m glad a large portion of development went into making the female story line, someth that will NEVER happen. The woman he said that’s renowned in baseball I’ve literally never heard of and 99% of people here don’t either. How many people asked for the fantasy story of be the first female mlb player! Yeah that’s what my friends and I (which included tons of girls who also just loved sports games) would dream about back in the day, imagine being able to play a fantasy story that is quite literally fiction in our baseball game. It’s funny watch how many people will bicker with me about this but I can guarantee no one was asking for this dedicated storyline, why the fuck would you it’s not even remotely realistic
"The woman he said that’s renowned in baseball I’ve literally never heard of and 99% of people here don’t either." Neither did this cuck. He's covering his rear.
The game is just unacceptably obsolete. The CPU AI is PS4 level. Actually so is everything....this is a PS4 game STILL. The only thing added that wasnt possible on PS4 is the stadium editor -- but i could care less about that -- HOW BOUT ADDING CLASSIC STADIUMS? -- Nah -- gotta add chicks & useless novelty modes most people dont even know are there, and 99% want nothing to do with. How they could be wasting their time with a season 2 of Negro leagues & a Jeter mode, when the game still has the same 5 gameplay problems its had for years....is just incompetent. The CPU dive...especially in the outfield....is a joke that does not resemble anything in actual baseball. Players dont dive and miss 3 times a game...oh, but always just barely, with the ball staying close by after trickling off their glove. Infielders dont have time to take 3 steps and snare a 90 mph line drive. I wont list them all, but you get the idea of the kind of issues im talking about... Oh -- and CPU pitching AI is a mess. Oh could they release a game in which the pitching AI is so broken. Walking you on 4 pitches in a "Moment" when you HAVE TO GET A HIT - is negligent game development. The CPU trade logic is broken -- how do you not fix such an important aspect of your game....for the 3rd year in a row. And who the frick okayed the art design. This is the ugliest sports game ive ever set eyes on. The font, the graphics packages, the color schemes....EGAD....were they chosen by a blind 12 year old girl from 1992? Its amateur work. SDS needs new leadership. Its priorities are completely upside down, and the game has gotten worse each of the last 2 years. SDS ignores serious long term game issues while wasting time on features NO ONE cares about. Theyve friggin BANNED historic Cleveland uniforms because they say "Indians" on them -- creating a fake uniform to replace it with -- YET the Indianapolis INDIANS uniform is in the game. I just dont think people with a mentality that dense & violently illogical, is capable of making a good video game -- They spent time CRAFTING FAKE CLEVELAND UNIFORMS to eliminate a word thats STILL IN THE GAME on another uniform. Thats a kind of delusion that prioritizes putting chicks in the game over fixing a fielding bug thats been in the game for years now. I used to spend hundreds of dollars on the game....buying the ultimate edition....buying packs...playing virtually all year round...they used to give us new content virtually all year round. Anyway....i refuse to give them another dollar. I checked out the game on Game Pass. I will write my review and then never touch the game again. Its a disgrace. Where are the people who made a superior game with far inferior tech? The people who took pride in making a baseball simulation? The people who liked their customers...SDS hates its customers, nowadays -- why do you think their message boards are dead? They banned everyone who didnt slurp up their excuses for the same stuff being broken EVERY YEAR. San Diego Studios should be shuttered before it kills, what is one of Sonys big golden gooses....b/c things WILL keep getting worse...until it is just Madden with chicks.
Hands down the worst MLB the show in its history. I absolutely love baseball and have played the game since I was a kid and this game is a huge disappointment. Even though it’s exactly like 23 the show, it somehow manages to be worse. Hitting is horrendous, especially online. The amount of fly ball outs with hits in the PCI is astounding. Pitching is annoying and flukey. The game looks like it did 12 years ago. SDS has managed to go the 2K route and made it pay to play while making the actual game play and graphics worse. I actually feel dumb for buying the game. For those who haven’t bought it, spare yourselves the headache of whatever this game is trying to be.
For myself I’m not thrilled with the legends that not return for example I was going to play with a team full of black legends players then found out MR. OCTOBER Reggie Jackson isn’t in the game that’s a L!!!! Also how is that Jacks Holiday has a real card pics but a player Evan Carter gets a cartoon pics that’s an other L!!!!
I played last night on Xbox Series X and 4k monitor. It looks and plays exactly the same as last year. Did you get a special upgraded version I don't know about? Haha
@benhoffman8264 Nah. It just seems to run extra smooth and the lighting. Just looks more polished. Dude the biggest thing though is the improvement on faces adds a lot to it. They showed that improvement before launch.
@@calinator51 I know that the faces are improved but I'm still shocked that the textures of the infield dirt and grass haven't been improved in about 10 years. Those are two things that we see up close all game long. When I started playing the game 4 years ago I thought the lighting was pretty good but honestly I just haven't seen it changed at all since then.
Every year it seems like they are intentionally trying to kill franchise i mean they removed online franchise year to year saves owner features yes they added stadium assignments but the removed features i just named the biggest ones that came to mind im pretty sure I missed some the added so called features don't out weigh whats missing and the trade logic has been garbage for years like madden its time for a new dev team thats qualified to work on games instead of their qualifications being for diversity sake. Its a shame switch and xbox players aren't getting to play it when it had all these features but if the devs are to incompetent to realize they'd be making a actually fun engaging game then they just need to move on and like i said before let actually qualified people work on the game
Idk they have an entire fucking year to release a good game, yet they keep pumping out the same horseshit year after year… why? Because online pay to win shit bundles and fucking skins and loot chests have ruined the respect and integrity of games
Is MLB the Show 24 worth it if the last game I bought was 19? I was excited for it this year but once again, not a next-gen exclusive. Plus the whole pandering to feminists is quite lame. Is it possible to play this game without women in it?
The lack of visual improvement is frankly ridiculous. Combined w/ the almost half decade standstill of key modes, unfinished additions at launch, while SDS never answering for it is unacceptable. These types of reviews help foster the sports gaming environment we have now.
Consistently the worst visuals in sports gaming for so many years running now. Looks so bad.
They are forced to release on Switch and it is clearly holding them back.

So quit being the clowns doing the same shit every year by buying it. That’s insanity. There’s things called boycotts for a reason. Why keep funding stuff for you to bitch about. You can bitch about it without paying them 😂
Until they release on current gen only its going to be hard to make a leap in graphics.
The game has looked nearly identical for 10 years. Animations, lack of textures, lighting . Its absurd how this isnt talked about morw
Because gamers and sports lovers - and especially the combination of the two - are addicts.
Absurd that RTTS and Franchise have actually gone backwards! Infuriating
Animations and textures, along with body types yes. Lighting no, it's some of the best Lighting in sports games
It's baseball....get over it
People comparing this to Madden is a joke.
Madden has at the very least made drastic improvements to Franchise, The Show hasn’t touched Franchise or RTTS in years.
I played 2024 and beyond hate it for one reason, the catcher doesn't give the signs anymore, like the fingers, I mean WHY would they remove that!
It’s certainly trending towards madden
@@FakeNews953 it's a new MLB rule I Guess, they buttons to tell the pitcher what the pitch is.

@@mrgreekgm754 yeah... but have the cut scenes just like the movie. I think it'll be a cool feature
It’s hilarious how every single sports game never changes from year to year
At least graphics change in Madden and 2k lol
@@seaniveroni5579yeah san diego studios is making ea look competent and also at least ea finally after a decade is finally bringing back the training drills from the ps2 days but with the show sds has taken the ea approach and removed everything that made franchise the deepest season simulation in sports games I mean even this year they removed the freaking inside the show recap that's been in the game for years but they were too lazy to bring it back or too cheap or both. Madden isn't good but it's slowly becoming better than the show only from a franchise standpoint though and based on the last several years that's something I never thought I'd say sds has fell so low.
@@tidesquirrel1270 yea right it's diamond dynasty game now smh
As much as madden has been dogged you can see little improvements but this just seems like a carbon copy no lie
i mean other than gameplay changes, how much change are you expecting from a game that realeases every year. its not much about sports that change every year in real life other than the players
Sounds fun, where are you relocating them this year lol
Thank god it’s on gamepass. There’s no way I’d actually pay for what is essentially a $70 roster update
San Diego Studios needs to take a 5 -year break in putting out MLB The show. and just reboot the whole thing in that 5 year period. Its Presentation needs a complete overhaul in my opinion. It’s gotten so stagnant, everything about it needs to change.
Here are just some things that need to change and/or be added (BTW: all this can off the top of my head so a lot more could be added)
1. Broadcasting:
• They need to separate the two broadcasting styles when it comes to 'the show style' (AKA: The MLB The Show version of ESPN) and 'regional' (AKA: MLB The Show’s style of each team's broadcasting).
2. Before the game:
• Show the players in the clubhouse finishing putting on their uniforms, show a coaches' meeting, and show the visiting team arriving at the ballpark.
3. As the game begins:
• Introduce the pitcher as he is doing his last warm-up pitches, then show the standard throw to second base.
• Introduce the umpires by naming them and go around the diamond to show who is at each base.
• Show whose on defensive on screen
• Show the lineup.
4. During the inning:
• Check swing: If it’s checked at first/third, once the umpire calls it, have a replay to see if the umpire was right, wrong, or too close to call.
• cut to fans getting happy or depressed by a play or a lead change(example: cut to a fan who had the same expression of how the woman looked like after the soler HR in game 6 of the 2021 WS)
5. End of the inning:
• Show the batter doing their usual routine while the opposing team walks off the field: tossing down their helmet and gloves or handing them over to the first base coach or ball boy.
6. Between innings/changing of pitchers:
• Have a short, fun little one 15-30 second commercial, then return with, showing the city, outside the stadium, fans interacting while the inning is about to start (the usual break between innings.)
7. Travel day:
• Show the teams entering either a bus or plane.
Dude! You need to go work for SDS right now.
@@benhoffman8264 I've made another list but it won't let me reply.
brilliant. hope the devs somehow see this
@@Garcusmarvey I've drove deeper. I've looked at how to write video game gameplay on script, and here's a little bit of what I've come up with(I wrote all this today):
Charging the mound:
Broadcaster 1: Here comes the pitch.
Player Choice Prompt:
Hold L2 to charge.
Player Choice Prompt:
Press and hold down R3 to tackle.
Player Choice Prompt:
Press L1 or R1 to punch.
Bullpen call:
Player Action: The player decides to pause the game.
Action Sequence:
The player decides to pause the game by pressing the Options button on the controller.
Player Choice Prompt:
Hold X to call bullpen.
pitching coach walks over and uses the phone. Cut to bullpen. The bullpen coach is on the phone with the pitching coach.
Player Choice Prompt:
Press[left/right/up/down] on controller to circle through Relief Pitchers
Press X to select pitcher.
Bullpen coach points to pitcher selected.
When it comes to seeing the reliever getting ready, A batter or two later or at the beginning of the next inning we cut to bullpen, and for the first time seeing the pitcher warm up(seeing how close they are at being ready) with commentary by the broadcasters mentioning the pitcher.
switch hitter:
Player Action: The player decides to pause the game.

The player selects the substitute batter option by pressing the X button on the controller.
In game, the dugout appears with all the players on the team.
Player Choice Prompt:
Press[left/right/up/down] on controller to circle through players available to switch hit.

As someone who consistently plays March to October, I'm a bit saddened they didn't touch it with any of the multitude of changes they could have made.
This guy sounds like he doesn't have the balls to say the female story mode sucks. And of course he had to have his wife sign off on the approval.

However, instead of spending time and money adding features that don’t exist in real life (Looking at you, ladies) it would be nice to see them crystallize areas such as the broadcast and the presentation.
havent bought since 2019 i think and man it feels like the series has gone massively downhill everything is worse commentary, controls modes like everything that made it immersive and realistic has been stripped out it was so disappointing when booting up the game the first thing i was greeted with was microtransaction garbage it just made me sad and was the moment i finally felt affected by the decline of aaa games i have been playing since day 1 and the 2006 entry felt more exciting than 24 entry the commentary blew my mind it was so cool hearing things that I never would have expected cant think of specific example but it felt like they were at least all recording lines in the booth together the commentary here is just chopped up and jumbled thats not even matching whats happening on screen so sad to see how little has improved and how much worse it feels in just 5 yrs since i last played im just sad ive loved this franchise since 06 i remember skipping school to go pick it up and playing it on launch day now im just left feeling like its time to skip the series and let it go i dunno i might give it another go but after 2 hrs i dont think im gonna feel any different
also as a female gamer seeing the female added is just hilariously out of place talk about immerision breaking lol like yeah imagine a chick in a mens locker room surrounded by dongs and then getting mad whining about sexism / mosoginy bs when they ask to see her tits "tit for tat as they say" 😂
I think the clothing graphics are from ken Griffey jr 64
I only buy every other year, so The Show is a big upgrade for me over The Show 20.
So true...
Free with Game Pass . Its good for me.
Exactly bro💯💯💯
That's the only saving grace for me I wouldn't waste the space on my ps5 nor my money but at least on gamepass I don't have to worry about it
title shouldve been piss missile or strike three
All I want is to be able to take batting practice and pick what pitches and where they will go so I can study and learn.
Batting practice YES and also let me actually train my player manually in drills
NBA2K, FIFA, Madden, MLB, or NHL
I'm not taking about Ultimate team, Park, or any microtransactions modes involving cards.
Without sacrificing some movement like in 2K by removing the analog sticks, the show stands out for me but what do I know🤷♂️
Madden needs to bring back the old teams like nba2k
NBA2K is the best simulation by far in my opinion, from player/ball physics and movements/interactions on the court, also simulating being an nba player from in depth team practices/workouts and the most in depth mycareer of all the sports games. MLB being distant second in my opinion, because the only simulation aspect is the on field player movements/interactions. I don’t play FIFA/NHL enough to form an opinion. Madden shouldn’t even be in a discussion of simulation anything, I’ll maybe give it graphics but that’s a literal drop in the bucket of what makes something simulation.
I hate 2K, but theirs is the best sim
I think it's great the challenge is definitely improved
The clouds dont move anymore in the backdrop.
Now three years later the lines are the same as they were in 22
what i liked is you can only do 2 pick off plays now so you cant keep throwing over and never can steal a base i think you left that out stay well
So should I just keep mlb the show 23?
I would. For now at least until it goes on sale in the Summer. Usually $40 around June.
Only reason I m playing 24 is because i have game pass. otherwise I never update a sports game.
Its like getting the new iPhone every year
I see allot of people speaking on the visuals haven’t changed much the last few years or so and I agree, hopefully these sport games cut loose last gen consoles like College Football 25 is doing this year, maybe we will see some game engines change and visuals and physics will be better. I’ve been enjoying the show 24 haven’t played since The Show 16.
Aaron Judge and Alex Verdugo BOTH wearing #99 on the same team is criminal.
Baseball is pretty simple 9 on 9 a pitcher and a guy batting and bases what more do ya want
I am going to go back to 23.
Its the same game every year... They have to patch the same things every year, and they still to this day pretend like half of the ball has to be in the strikezone for it to be a strike.. Thats fundamentally wrong and stupid.
I downloaded the ps5 version and I'm unable to play with the exhibition games it keeps saying Network Error pick different team different day??
Found this series in 2016. Not a whole lot has changed in any Single player content. Except for the added Female mode which is not good or bad.
It’s been the same game every year and I just started playing again when it became available for Xbox
So.......too complicated to have any fun with especially if you have kids. I miss old games you could play with kids or AS kids!
other mlb games would allow you to reduce the number of games you play in franchise mode.
Welp… guess I’ll hold on to my ‘22
I do enjoy this game. I might pick it up once the price is 50% off. I love how they have the woman in road to the show now but they could do so much more in road to the show similar to NBA 2K. I’ve been gaming for a long time, and one of the older baseball Sim games had a feature I loved which was super fans I would also enjoy more decisions that are player can affect how fans like or not how his teammates like him and perhaps more interactions with current players again just like how NBA 2K did we players would come in play on your home court something like that
They should refocus on releasing on pc instead of the bloody switch.
Is there any way I can just update the roster to last year's game? And play franchise etc
Frankly, the game is overpriced for what you get year after year.
they really need to bring this game to PC
Same game different year wwe2k24 was way more improved then this
The menu screens are so bright I can’t take it.
exactly idk wtf they were thinking with that
Yeah im mixed on the female thing because i played some one with one woman on his team and it reminds me im playing a game it kind of takes me out of it and i couldn't get her out 😭
My wife, who was at the game when Jeter made that catch diving into the stands in '04, would go straight to The Captain's storyline before she touched that female story mode. Stop pretending women bought this in droves. Just like every other viture signal this one was used to coverup inadequacies somewhere else in the product.
Stop being a snowflake 😆. Not every woman in the world is your wife.
They have made rtts irrelevant
They have now reached madden status where they will no longer improve the game because they have no competition
The foul balls this year are just killing this game for me, I hate it
Still no fantasy draft for online leagues. This company is really pooping on its fans. Game pass wins again.

"The woman he said that’s renowned in baseball I’ve literally never heard of and 99% of people here don’t either."
Neither did this cuck.
Dude I give this game a 9 your tripping
Female ball player, na I'm good thanks though mabe next year.
Can we finally steal bases?
In what way have you struggled to steal bases previously? Ive found that stealing has been easy in the past with speed and steal rating in the 90s
you have to change a setting in road to show to get base stealing opportunities
So I'll just keep playing 23 then
Good to know I can keep my 70 bucks
I just want to play the old MLB games tbh better gameplay. I hope xbox add all of the MLB 2k games on gamespass.
RTTS got incredibly worse somehow. The degraded commentary and UI doesn't help either.
Seeing a mlb the show 24 rage quit montage
They need to get rid of seasons. Let us use our cards all year
I see that they are following the Madden business model for gaming.
The hitting is an absolute joke💀
This generation aged poorly, either developers are lazy or it's too expensive to make a quality next gen game
I'm enjoying it for free on game pass
Horrible sound glitches.Shuffling noise when your batting,Horrible game and no difference from 23.
Have you guys hating played it? Im playing on a PS5 and large OLED. This year the game took a large step forward. It looks incredible.
Crazy how all these sports games end up free games of month for ps5 lmaoo it’s cause no one buys them
I never missed a year of mlb but this one I will boycott SDS
Do you get to play in all the actual minor league parks like CHS Field in St. Paul?
Mannnnnn WHERES ONLINE FRANCHISE?????
I'm sure young girls are going to be rushing out to buy this so they can create their ballplayer..😂😂
