billy michaels with VANOS adjustments I’ve seen the power band stay similar just increase all across, depends on the tune but it’s more common for a shift on the m52tu’s
M50 intake is made for higher end power band, about 4700rpm. M52 stock intake is made for lower rpm power band (3900rpm). M54 and M52tu have adujustable intake that changes intake runner lenght with DISA valve to get better power band from low to high rpm. if you don't tune your engine for the new M50 intake I dont see any sense to do this mod. You just lose your low end torque. Diffrent thing if you have turbo, you get better flow from m50 intake on m54/m52tu when running on boost.
FINALLY someone with a seemslegitgarage M50 manifold swap on an e46. Im about to get the kit and actually put an ebay aluminum M50 intake manifold on my 323Ci. That manifold, 330 injectors(bigger than 323Ci) headers and exhaust, and an AEM FIC 6 to get a solid fuel/timing tune on it, it’ll make 250HP. Plus my coupe is completely gutted and i have a 3.64 rear end (welded). Its gonna be DAMN fast, and i may go overkill and put a 50 wet shot until i go turbo
Tyler Chedister that’ll move out for sure. I was planning on a similar build but with the 3.0, I wanted to go ZHP cams, catless headers, m50 manifold and an aggressive tune with 50 shot to get to the 300HP range but I came across this turbo kit and the rest is history lol
No leaks with the D-shape and oval ports connecting? I have a M50 intake, but wanted to put a adaptor in between to convert the port shape, just don't want to move my injectors further away from the head.
some people port match (dremel the head) to match... no leaks, pulls light a freight train... ive heard from some big power people that port matching may not have as many benefits as people thought

I’ve been wanting to do this but my worry is that I have ms45 (needs to be reflashed still) and there still isn’t much info on tuning with this. I also want to get catless headers, delete the DISA, SAP and secondary o2 sensors. Also catch can for CCV

@Must Be Nice or you can do what I did cause I had the MS45.1 ECU and I swapped it to a MS43 to have all the benefits of tuning. You have to get a ECU MS43 Tuned and ready to go with all the tunes like the O2 removed, SAP Removed, 7k RPM and Speed Limit removed, Throttle Respond etc. , find them ready in Ebay, and buy the Engine Harness that was for a MS43 to swap it out. Make sure the car is Standard. Best think I ever did.
Any m52tu guys out there... I’m a little stumped on how I should be mounting the throttle cable. Anyone do this? Did you salvage a bracket off another bmw?
Is it necessary to upgrade to an electronic throttle body?? I have wired throttle body and i don’t know know to set it up with the M50manifold i didn’t everything you show in this video but when it was time to install the wire to throttle body i had to stared at it for a min lol.
U could get the ccv system from the m50 that will mount in there. The only issue would be running hoses to VC and intake would be custom since everything is different.
Maybe a stupid question, if you have a e46, stock 2.5, would there be any benefit using 2.5 stock manifold, but using the 3.0 throttle body? Until I can find the e30 intake? Car would be all stock, except cold air intake. Or will it not run? Sorry for the dumb question.
Hi, i have bmw e46 328i, i want to put m50b25 intake, so what components should i change with putting that intake, or its just easy plug intake without any other part changes?
I'm debating if I want to do the m50 mani to m54 but I'm not sure I want to tap the 6 air ports on the head for plugs. Does the seems legit garage plugs require you to tap the ports first? How do they get the plugs in there?

Tune is needed, I have seen gains throughout the powerband, hindering DISA useless. DISA is the only thing making the m54 intake worth anything, though the simplicity, reliability and gains of the m50 intake manifold, means it should not be overlooked.
So for the bottom of the m50 (I’m doing this swap as we speak ) you said a vaccum line for fuel is that line just sitting when you take the old manifold off ?

The ms43 wiki is a lifesaver. But yeah any tips would be appreciated *edit - I've only really heard of having to tune if upgrading to a Cold air intake
You would want to adjust fuel trims, because you’re correct, I’ve seen people swap the manifold and be a bit lean, although it should adapt if you’re mostly stock Overall I suggest finding a tuner, it’s a life saver in the end depending on who, or a good person who knows what they’re doing, my tuner adjusts everything
Ik im late on this. Im assuming this swap would be about the same on my 2000 328ci? M52tub28 engine. Few minor differences with mine and yours including that I could probably used the m50 throttle body with my cable?

Sensor plug and play just thread stock sensor in, you need to get a die or buy inline pre threaded
@@straightsixracing so nothing attaches to it? I can't find any loose wired plugs
It’s a 2 prong plug for IAT
@@straightsixracing can I stick it in my intake boot? Or has to be in manifold
Does anyone know how much of a power gain you get? Judging by the intake runners there is room for improvement if you want to port out the head and keep it N/A
I’ve seen 8-10WHP gains all depending.
On the b30*
Which oil filter cap do you have?
hackengineering
considering boosting my m52 tu sometime next year what are your opinions?
Justaleem 328ci do it! The m52 is a great engine as well!
2.8?
Yeahs it’s the 2.8
Do it!!
M52tu is essentially the m54
Do you know of any company’s that make metal intakes for the m54? I hate the way the plastic ones look 😂
EINEN they’re usually worse than the stock m50 ones if cheaper than $800 lol.
I agree with you there, better off getting a custom one made lol
Alex Nadolski then I’ll stick with that maybe once I boost my e46 I’ll get a custom one 🤷♂️
How do you delete the Disa?
Disabled it
@@straightsixracing how do I disable it?
Michael Hector I’m starting to think this process needs to be properly exposed. I’m hoping we get a reply.
@@toddwilliams7020 for real I see and hear this everywhere but no one says how
Michael Hector use romraider. Ms42 project.
Bro i love ur vids
Justaleem 328ci thanks!
yo do you think it’ll work on an m56?
I don’t know for sure , I would assume so as long as there isn’t crazy emissions things stuck in the manifold that you can’t remove
@@straightsixracing hmm alright thanks
any updates?
@@justswippin2693yeah you can run the m50 manifold on the m56
Great video 👍 can’t find a m50 intake for less than 200$ now smh
How times change
Hey, do you by any chance know the exact dimension for the set screws to block of the ilde air flow port? I would have gotten it from seems legit garage but its not worth the shipping cost to the UK.
Unfortunately I do not recall. Sorry
3/16 hex
That's we want 🙏
Thanks broski.
thank you so much bro
Hey what’s your Instagram dude. I got some questions wondering if you can help me out.
Chitown_bimmer
Good work
you can code out the ICV completely visit romraider dot com forums nm you mention that near the end :D
Ohhh bro thanks for translate my mod ;p
Hey brother, you motivated me on getting the manifold. And was wondering where into the manifold would I plug the catch can setup? Do you have a Facebook where I can message you? TYVM
I did it off the CCV
Wow $50 for m50 manifold
Go for £300 in UK. Fancy shipping me one?
Distribute them. They’re $50-80 here all day
Thats crazy. I wouldn't know what the shopping would cost though
@@owenhatch9223 about $90 US
Send in bulk 😂
Wanna send me one over ?
✌🏽😷
Awesome but not for Newsom World.
After getting a BMW zhp and begin in the Honda/Acura game, man bmw are the worst to work on like for real. A K-Series motor in a eg chassis or Ek that intake manifold comes out in literally like 10mins. Even the headers
My m50 mani came off in like 10 mins
@@straightsixracing I'm looking at my intake manifold right now as I'm texting and I cannot see how it would only take 10 minutes to take this off literally I can't see how
Seems legit was the worst shop I’ve ever dealt with sadly
Yeah? Can you elaborate
Hey good video dude man add me if you can i just started my channel? Keep up the good work dude
will i get a check engine light if I dont have a tune for my desa valve?
Yes probably so
What intake boot u have ?
Will this work on a m52tu?
yes, though it is a little different process. you do not need a throttle body adapter plate i dont think.
@@straightsixracing oh okay. Thanks.
Hey chitown what's up bro, hey I have a 2001 330xi . I bought a m50 manifold ,do I need an additional support bracket to mount the m50 manifold to the block?
will this work on 2000 323i?
Yes with some slight changes, I am unsure if you need the TB adapter plate etc
@@straightsixracing what slight changes? im def going to do this mod
I don’t think you need the adapter plate really since the older TB is different
