Thanks for the tips. Your batteries last ages. I've done over 6000kms on my GTR and I'd say the battery still has about 85-90% of its original capacity, and is still loads of fun to ride.
Yep i experienced a New Hadean Carbon melt down on a board just 2 hours of use right out of the box. Turned unit on, Started hissing and poping and smoke came out. Happened at night, as wanted to ride after work as only just purchased the board. I got home, put the board in the bathroom tiles as worried about house fire. Evolve asked me to send the board back. Told me if its not user damaged it would be warranty. YEP Evolve covered the whole process and refunds and return shipping. Unfortunately that repaired board failed again hours after getting it back. Evolve got back to me very fast, and said we are going to get you to send it again and retain that unit for further diagnostics and shipped another brand new board. Its now been 3 weeks since getting the new replacement and it has no glitches. 100% satisfaction. This is why i purchased from evolve, as they back up their products. Thanks Team Evolve. From Pete.
As someone considering getting one of your boards for commuting. This video was super helpful! Actually dispelled some of the myths I had about batteries. Well done!
You should add an automatic discharge feature similar to some drone batteries. In some areas of the world you may not be able to discharge the batteries for months and if you happen to fully charge the battery expecting to do a ride but then it snows, it is hard to discharge until the spring. It would be good to have Bluetooth to control when the battery automatically discharges (you can set an automatic discharge for 3 days or 7 days etc) and the amount you want to charge to. The charger could also be set to discharge instead of charge for easier storage. You could also have the charger plugged in over the winter to maintain a storage charge and keep the cells balanced. You could just set the charger to storage mode.
Thank you Evolve. Your overview with tips on general battery care really helped. One definite issue with my short battery life was due to storing the board in extreme high temps, thanks to your video. Now I need to figure out how to replace the battery.
Great vid, battery care can vary so much between differe t devices these days like phones laptops boards cars etc. Loving the eSkateboards and great to know exactly how to treat it. The run below zero thing was interesting.. haven't done that yet
Cool vid. I've done a LOT of riding as my GTR is my daily commute to work and I've not had known much about the batteries. I have learned some good stuff. But I found out the hard way the keep the BMS dry as I fried it in my earlier GT!
Super helpful! I knew a few tricks (keep the board inside in the winter months, don’t leave the board charging continuously, etc.) but keeping it at 30-50% in storage and out of excessive heat we’re two big ones for me!
Thanks guys for the tips on how to keep my evolve board batteries in optimal shape. I liked it when you said that the board is best stored in an environment that has a even temperature of about 15 degrees Celsius & not left in the garage. Now I have a good reason to keep it in our bedroom beside my side of the bed. My wife was getting a little jealous but now I can reassure her that it’s just for battery health.
Again, some great practical tips from Team Evolve. Always useful and with the right level of detail. Constantly picking up tips and tricks - keep those videos coming 👍
I underestimated how battery conservative Eco mode + Street wheels is compared to Pro mode + All terrain wheels. Ive only charged my Bamboo GTR once a week and it lasts forever with the eco mode and streetwheel combo.
EXTREEEMELY helpful. I have been second guessing myself when it comes to how I'm keeping my board stored. Turns out I've been doing the right thing by accident 🤔
I had nnooo idea the bms had a temp sensor, thaaaats pretty dope!! Theres always so much speculation about charging and what to do. Seems like you guys have enough safety’s in place to keep the battery in great condition for as long as possible 🙏👍🏻🤙
Great video. Maybe you guys can do updated videos on gtr series 2 boards ,like changing motors and how to trouble shoot . I know they're very similar but I had to troubleshoot my gtr series 2 bamboo and you only had one video with the older carbon gtr
P-Group level balancing (performed by the BMS) is a feature of EVERY commercially produced electric skateboard and ebike EXCEPT YOURS. Does Evolve *EVER* plan to use a BMS capable of BALANCING the pack? If not, is there any particular reason you feel it's adequate to merely report problems to the user, without providing any remedy? Drifting out of balance is only the death knell of a pack if you *don't do anyting about it*. Please explain this willful omission, that after 6 years of complaints, seems driven by profit motive.
That was helpful as I wasn't sure if I should have been running the board to flat. It's still running well and I'm loving the rides to work , on the river track, especially the dirt track sections.
Thank you, this is good info, I haven’t tried running my board to zero percent usually don’t get below 30%. I also have noticed a difference in riding in the cold. I thought it would be the opposite being that the cold air is helping keep motor and internals cool.
Cold temps to lower the battery performance. EV cars have the same issue with losing range in colder temps. optimal temps are around 55degrees -65degrees I have found with most of my esk8s
My GTR battery is pretty good. I just need a second charger to leave at work so I don't have to carry it in my backpack. Keep up the great work Evolve!
Always awesome updates I’ve had my gen 2 and my bamboo GT board for few years now never had a problem with anything due to care for boards EVOLVE boards are the DUCKS NUTS would never ride any thing else Jeff you have one of the best boards ever regards Clayton
Great video ! Like some comments say dont leave li-ion completly unattended... never had a problem before but better be safe than sorry! I usually charge my diy board in my room when im gaming or something like that so its at room Temperature and i can react fast if something happens
Nice video 👍 I'll run my battery down this week to reset the charge meter, that's a great tip. My GTR carbon has been the greatest way to get to and back from work since I've had it. Made the right decision choosing Evolve this time
Evolve has terrible service for parts and older boards. I have the carbon Gt can’t get remote and can’t get a battery. Total waste of money. I guess it helps if you’re in Europe but I’m in the states. Good luck. 👍🏼
good info one of the belts came off when I got caught up in some sandy turf.. I've refitted following one of the belt service vid's and noticed there isn't much if any tension adjustment left. One belt looks like new the other a little rough between the ribs.. how many hours should you allow between changing belts. .. great fun for an older rider after I've mostly mastered not coming a gutsa.. Also my weight in the 90-95 range.. should I change the bushings to the orange on all.. I noticed they recommend varying the bushings on each truck but the weight recommended for me is orange. cheers Andy
There is so much you don’t know until you do. Thanks for this one!

9 months later and I still felt I learnt somthing. Thank you.
Super Helpful! I'm a rider for 3 years now. Glad i choose Evolve

Or include a charger which can do a self balancing charge. My other boards can and one is a cheap chinaboard
This makes sense - auto long term storage mode.
Glad to see some real content! It's been a while

Get in touch with your Local Evolve team, they may be able to assist you in acquiring a new battery 😊

Thanks, this was great to watch. I was wondering about how to manage the battery so I appreciate the video.
So glad to hear this, I want to be able to charge after each use, no matter what percentage its at

This channel is sick, getting all my mates onto it spreading the word. 👍🏼👍🏼
Thank you for the instruction, answered all the questions I had about the battery.

The black&white color combination 3:42 looks soo good 😍 I need that
Love the tips on charging and taking care of batteries! Very informative and makes me want a board even more.
I dont have a Evolve board but this video answered all my questions. Thanks

Plan on getting my second evolve board in a few weeks when I moved to NYC
Some great tips there will keep in mind once I get my first board
Hi, can you please tell me what part "Q5" on the PCB is if you know? I would need the Type of the Transistor because it got broken.
Good idea for a video. Didn’t know about the temperature point. One less thing I need to worry abaout.
Excellent summary of battery care and considerations! Another great Evolve video!!
Good info. Glad to see I am on target for a healthy battery.
Finally, no more half-knowledge from now! Nice video

Agreed, and I’ve been with them since the single motor boards as well.
Still got em too.

Great rundown guys. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the charging tips. But one I feel is important is I NEVER charge any batteries unattended. You just never know if something were to happen.
But What could you do if it did?
This is really helpful. As always, lots of good info to know about maintaining such an awesome piece of kit!
The go to electric skateboard to any occasion or vacation :)

Very informative always thought not to over discharge but I think that applies more to lipo battieries
Really useful info. Keen on getting one of these.
Battery was acting up going from 60 to 0%. Just rode it until completely empty. This helped the BMS to better manage battery pack capacity.
Incredible video to get more out of your board! Thank you!
Good informative video on proper battery care. 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks for the charging tips. A lot of new info for me 😅
Good simple easy to follow tips Thanks
Very informative! Awesome video as always!
