One thing I think people don't realize is that Hitogami, a.k.a Man-God, told Rudeus that he would regret going to Begaritt. To put the decision to perspective: If he hadn't gone, he would have maybe "had relations" with Linia or Pursea and eventually witnessed the birth of his first child, while most likely losing his father or at least destroying their relationship forever, his mother, the teacher he loves and respects most in this life, and probably being hated by his younger sisters for the rest of their lives. THESE ARE ALL THINGS HE WOULD HAVE REGRETTED. Because he DID go, he saved the teacher who he loves and respects the most in this life, he "saved" his mother, he was still able to witness the birth of his first child, he still has a good relationship with his sisters because they know he tried his best and even lost an arm in the process, he marries Roxy with approval from his first wife (REMEMBER! This is another world and our conventions don't matter there. Having a second or third wife was pretty normal for the people of that world unless you were a follower of Millis. The only reason he felt like he might be doing something wrong was because he still had guidelines from his time living in OUR world.). The only bad thing that happened was that Paul died, but even then, all he feels is saddenss, NOT regret. He feels no regret for having left to go save his family, unlike what Hitogami told him. This is the point where I'm starting to question Hitogami and whether or not it has Rudeus' best interests at heart.
