6:10 ---> You can put a cup full of hot water inside the oven and close it (turned off). After 5-7 minutes you put the rolls inside the oven, close it and that should create a nice warm environment for the rolls to proof/rise.
Method: 1. Start by mixing your dry ingredients together for the dough 2. Then put your water, milk and butter into the microwave for about a minute; you want it to be hand hot not boiling 3. Then combine that with your dry ingredients and mix at a low speed 4. Once it starts coming together, you want to add your egg into the dough 5. Then turn the speed up to medium until the dough comes off the sides 6. The mixture should be quite sticky 7. Dust your worktop and scrape out your dough into it (you might want to dust your hands as well) 8. Then kneed your dough for about 4-5 minutes until it all comes together nice and smooth. 9. Put your dough into a lightly greased bowl and leave it to prove for 15 minutes with a tea towel over the top of the bowl. 10. Whilst your dough is proving, put your soft spreadable butter, cinnamon and sugar into a bowl and beat together to make the filling 11. Then you want to dust you table top and your going to roll it out into a rectangle about 17 inches long and 10 inches wide. 12. Next, spread your filling all over the rolled dough 13. Once you got your filling all over the dough, all to the edges, you want to start rolling it (very tightly) all the way till its fully rolled 14. Trim the edges 15. Then you need to start chopping the dough about 4-5cm long 16. Then you need to prove them again in a round cake tin (swirl facing up and make sure there are gaps in between them because they double in size) in a warm environment and cover them with tinfoil for 1-1 ½ hours. 17. Now bake them at 170 degrees Celsius for 25 minutes 18. Whilst its baking in the oven, whisk together the icing sugar, milk, salt and vanilla extract. It will be done once it reaches a runny consistency. 19. When you take the swirls out of the oven, you want to brush the glaze on when its still hot. 20. Enjoy!
@@Ali-pb6jb Eggs are often only "binder ingredients" within recipes (holding other ingredients together), so often times substituting them can be a bit tricky. But what you can do is use chia/linseed mixed with a bit of water. This will pretty much do the same thing. Take one tablespoon of chia/linseed with three tablespoons of water, and let whatever seeds you picked soak up all that water (it might take a while, but it's very important to let it soak it all up!). It'll eventually become kinda like gloop, which does the same "binding" action of eggs. I've used it before with breads for a vegan friend of mine, and it tends to work out just fine. Or, if that doesn't work out, try using an oil (like vegetable oil). But the soaked seeds should work!
@@Ali-pb6jb I've made these several times by swapping out the egg for 1/4 cup of pumpkin puree. It works like a charm. It doesn't effect the flavour at all either. You should be able to use this substitution for a lot of baked things, and it's cheaper and easier than most common alternatives.
I made these 3 times and I absolutely love them!! First time the butter in the dough melted because I took too long spreading the filling so the rolls looked a bit sad but they still tasted great Second time I made sure my surface was cold and worked faster and they looked and tasted just perfect.. only different thing I do is a cream cheese sauce instead of regular icing which takes these rolls onto a whole new level Third time I used a 10g pack of instant yeast and I multiplied all the ingredients by 1.5 and I still got 12 rolls but they were hugeee and an almost exact replica of Cinabbon! Again cream cheese glazed with some hazelnuts and they are heavenly! Thank you so much for the recipe, definitely a keeper!!
Can I spread the butter first on the dough then but sugar and cinnamon? because I think it will be so hard to spread this mixture on such a delicate dough!

You are the first baker who actually explained the difference between instant yeast and active dry yeast. All the recipes (big internet names) always just say "yeast" or "active yeast" but use the instant dry prep method so my rolls never rise correctly. I was always confused because I never had issues with bread. Now I know: when yeast is added directly to the dry ingredients, use instant not active.
I think you are the most incredible TH-cam teacher, Baker personality, STAR. I’m from Canada and hopefully will make it to your shop some day!! It’s on my bucket list. I love your cook book too!!! Thanks.
My daughter is in England (Nottingham) for her third year of Uni. She did a week's tour of London and stopped by your shop. She picked up a trio of little sweets for herself and an apron for me. I am going to try my hand at these cinnamon rolls when I feel better, they look tasty as hell. Hello from Canada!
I baked these yesterday, thinking this will cheer us up as we commence our second lock down here in Melbourne, Australia. I thought I had baked enough for two days...they were gone within a few hours! Absolutely delicious! So easy to make too and the beauty of this recipe is that you can be doing other things whilst waiting for the yeast to do all of the work. Thanks Jemma, these cinnamon rolls are now a firm family favourite!
Just made these, and oh man, they’re really good. I consider myself a cinnamon roll expert (taste wise hA) and these were not only really easy to whip up but tasted just perfect 👌🏼 I normally make a cream cheese icing for my cinnamon rolls but I went with this simple version instead and it tasted just as great, this is way too easy for you to say no to, just make em! And for the yeast part, to activate active dry yeast, just mix the warm milk, melted butter, water and caster sugar and put 2 1/2 tsps of yeast in and let it sit for 10 minutes until there’s a bubbly formation on the top and mix it in with the flour then!
I have just baked these and they are DELICIOUS Jemma. Perfect, not too sweet. I actually put in the fridge overnight (as I do with my sourdough breads and other yeast goodies) to bake and enjoy with morning coffee! It worked a treat, (after resting an hour at warm room temperature) and now will convert ingreds - easy dairy replacements and no egg) for my vegan daughter ~ we ALL love cinnamon buns xx
I made these! The most fluffiest softest lightest delicious cinnamon roll I have ever tasted. I made 12 and they were all gone in one day!! Will definitely use this recipe again ❤️
I asked for a cinnamon cupcake recipe in the last video but now I'm so much more happier seeing this one! My hubby has been asking to make these for a while but I didn't know which recipe to follow from. No issues now! Thanks Jemma ❤

I've made this recipe twice now and can attest that this is a great cinnamon roll recipe! It's not too sweet and the dough is enriched so it's just like brioche-y, almost cakey (in a good way) deliciousness. Usually I end up reducing the sugar in most recipes but that was not needed in this recipe. I did make a few teeny weeny adjustments, not enough to compromise the actual recipe, but just a few tweaks. 1. replaced the glaze with cream cheese frosting. Because cream cheese frosting. That's, of course, personal preference and has little to do with the actual recipe. Half my family prefer these with the frosting, the other half prefer these rolls as is with no glaze of any kind whatsoever. 2. it's a very very sticky dough and I kneaded it by hand (slamming dough around on a granite countertop is intensely therapeutic, highly recommend) so I did knead in an extra bit of flour (I'd say maybe 1/4 cup? I went by feel more than anything) until the dough reached what I like to call that magical tipping point and just barely stopped sticking to the counter and my fingers. It was still a really soft, luscious dough that tried to ooze between my fingers. If anything, you should make it just to feel what it feels like after it's done its first rise. It's even better than memory foam, people. After nearly 8 eight years of various recipes, the results of which I invariably was unsatisfied with, I have finally, finally found a recipe I actively wanted to repeat. Hallelujah my search is over. **fireworks**
ive made this cinnamon rolls twice and everybody loves it. ur recipe arent too sweet, which definitely match my taste. but id prefer having it without the glaze , as it taste as nice as it is. tq jemma! the cinnamon rolls are tasty!

I have mixed feelings about this recipe. I'm extremely happy that they are the most delicious rolls ever and sad because now I'm going to keep baking them, eating them and adding inches to my curvy size lol 😂. Amazing!!!!! Thanks a lot!
But baking will make you happy so..... I don't see a problem 😊.
I made cinnamon rolls for the first time last weekend and had to cobble together about three different recipes from online... wish I'd waited because your recipes are always g-r-e-a-t!!

I personally would double or triple the icing thickness like “Cinnabon” does. But, these look yummy
