- In this video I go over the process of removing and installing the evaporative emissions canister purge valve on a Ford Duratec 2.5L. The vehicle featured in the video is a 2012 Ford Fusion equipped with a Duratec 2.5L. However, this particular Duratec 2.5L was used in other Ford models over the course of several years so the information found in this video is applicable to many other Ford models. Of course, do verify the information found in this video is applicable to whatever vehicle you are working on by using an appropriate repair manual for whatever vehicle you are working on.

Is my purge control valve supposed to stick out a bit???
How do u reset the computer after u change it? Or will the light go out it self?
You can try disconnecting the negative battery clamp from the battery for 10 minutes. Of course vehicle should not be running.
Hello I have a 2016 Fusion 2.5L with 96k miles and every time I fill it with gas it has a slow start. I was thinking bad fuel pump but after looking into it do you think replacing the purge valve could fix it?
Well. I would not replace it if it’s not bad. They can cause issues though if they are. What do you mean by “slow start” exactly?
@@BarboursAutoHelp Slow start as in it struggles to turn on. And it ONLY happens after I fill up
I’d say it’s possible. But it’s also possible something else is going on as well.

I replace the purge valve of my ford fusion 2013, at the beginning everything was ok until i pour gas on the tank it had a slow start any suggestions?
Why did you replace the valve?
Because the car was giving the same symptoms that are shown in the video, Check Engine Light, when I put gas in the car, it won't start immediately
@@robertbaezgonzalez2231 It's possible but unlikely that the new valve could be bad as well. Did you test the old one to make sure it was bad? Sure sounds like a bad valve but could be something else. What I'm not sure. May be time to take it to a shop.
@BarboursAutoHelp I also changed the canister, and still, every time I pour gas on the tank, it gives me a slow start engine.
