She's done an outstanding job of translating that from a concept into something actually manufacturable. From an aerodynamic perspective that separation edge she's talking about with regard to the tail lamps is such a simple and clever detail and also subtly references the wide-body turbo of the 80s. Also those cutom colour interiors look like they're way more expensive than they actually cost to make, purely because its so well detailed.

It looks extremely close to the concept and I like it a lot. Very excited for the next generation Twingo, which will similiarly be a throwback to the original Twingo design of the 90's.
Was watching the TF1 video, they were mentioning the parts are all sourced withing 300 Km reducing supply chain risks, including French made batteries, so no rule of origin tariffs when importing the UK. Renault are releasing a cheap bi directional charger with the car for V2G reducing that cost, but France and Germany planned at the moment Yes, I an a nerd... 🤓
They've recreated a Renault 5, with electrics! Will definitely look at it for my next car. To replace my E208. Waiting to view the driving impressions. And I'll want yellow, too!
I'm not usually one to like small cars (Smart cars aside), but I really do like the look of the 5. The interior looks fantastic, especially with that Yellow 'denim'. One thing that does seem like a bit of a miss is limiting it to 11kW charging on AC, we have a Zoe and it's very handy having the 22kW charger, it means we can get a reasonable amount of charge while shopping (or having breakfast at Spoons) as new Aldi stores have 22kW chargers rather than 7kW, plus it only being 25p/kW means it doesn't cost the earth like a rapid charger
I prefer to pay £25k and charge at 90/100kw than to pay £35k and charge at 130kw. Stats look very similar to the mini (two battery sizes and charging speed), but hopefully at least £5k cheaper and much bigger boot. Winner
Cute as a button. Can't wait to see you do a full review of it. Once again, it confirms that you Europeans are SO much more enlightened, with all kinds of EVs to choose from, unlike on this side of the pond.
Back in the 1980s in Bodø, Norway we had almost decided to buy a "R5" except, one day driving home with a colleague in his "R4" going up a hill his car just slowed down, stopped, then slid backwards into a guard rail, where it finally stopped moving. This made a lasting impression, so we bought a 4WD Subaru Justy. Fast forward to 2023, and we buy a VW Buzz, our last car purchase. That said, the R5 looks like a delightful car, in yellow or green.
strange, the R4 was looking outdated from its birth, but it's incredibly reliable, they are still used today to cross the desert each year ( "Rally 4L" )
Well done Renault, you absolutely nailed the design, on the new 5. You really need to make it possible to buy it in non metallic RED too, like the Turbo. Best color!
Impressed by this car, nothing turns me off it which almost never happens! I had a Renault five for 18 years and it never let me down, so this may be a serious contender for my next car! ❤
Oooh... Can't wait to see this in the flesh. The Renault 5, eC3, Dacia duster /spring all in the affordable bracket, as long as I fit in it (Big Bloke am I) then this may go to the top of my shortlist. Love the look of it.

If below the 25k and is close to the claimed mileage, I think this is going to sell really well, Mini and fiat need to watch their backs.
Plug&charge and V2L, amazing, good guy Renault! The yellow is great, but I would immediately get that gorgeous green one with a white accent line and roof. Also, while I love the headlight body, I can't stand that little light square they decided to create in the middle of the headlights. Too gimmicky, there is already a light square motif below in the bumper, what gives.
Love it! Just re-entered the Renault market with my first electric Zoe, which I love! After having Clio's years ago I must admit a fondness for Renault and will certainly be considering this Hot Hatch when I eventually come to replace my Zoe, the hardest choice will be the colour though! Excellent. If it has 500kg towing capacity, then it will certainly have a way to carry bikes in the back. With that baguette carrying basket, it has all the accessories I need.
More of this! Less of the frumpy mummy-pants SUVs! I might be able to afford one of these second-hand in ten years. Which is great, because in Australia, our brutal conditions and physical isolation makes interesting cars like these normally off-limits, as they just won't be reliable. But these are electric, so now we can dive in! 🙂
Other commentators saying it will have a starting price of £22k in the UK, it is 25k EUROs. If true, that is very impressive! One of the best looking electric cars made. Nostalgia is a big seller!

This is how city EVs should be. So refreshing to see a design for the modern cramped cities and towns. I really like the design and the overall concept. Although not a big EV fan but I could be tempted with this.
The real new r5 does look better than the concept. I loved the original r5, ended up with many fast fords (RS turbos) and Peugeot's (GTis), now looking forward to seeing these retro futuristic cars on the road!
Very cool, I like how much of the concept they kept. I wish it had the concept headlights as an option though, they are very cool. Glad they did a great job with the interior and hopefully the dynamics are as good as people driving the test mules indicated. It really reminds me of the 1st gen BMW mini in nailing the modern but retro and IMO looks much better than the mini electric.

Nice car, I would be tempted. Shame about it only having 18" wheels. Will do noth9n for ride quality and tyre wear, especially on our roads. A car this size doesn't need wheels larger than 16".
Absolutely quite frankly, this is the car I'll be looking to replace my mini electric, which will be for this end of year. After I went BMW and Mini 10years ago, didn't think returning to french cars... but this really puts them aside. Oh dear I am excited with an R5...
It looks fantastic, still about £5k too much for a small family hatch. Hopefully it will get heavily discounted in a years time like Peugeot E208 and Vauxhall Corsa then I can see it being a fantastic seller.
Heat pump, V2G and a sane price. If that is actually what gets delivered then I am seriously tempted. I caveat like that because so often we see launches trumpeting affordable/cheap but when it hits the showrooms it's crept/leapt up....
Which is unfortunately exactly what happened they initially were targeted to be 20k euros not 25k so for me the Citroen ec3 is the real bargain so far way better price value offer.
They've done a great job. I do prefer the yellow concept, mainly due to the lower overall height of the bonnet, but I understand there are practical factors at play in bringing the idea to fruition. 👏
I like it, I saw pictures of the concept car last year, but I wasn´t sure is it real. I hope they give the classic tiny door handles to the 2 door version.
Looks great. How wide is it? Practical fitting in my garage question. My corsa e fits but something a touch narrower would be grand. And the 5 is better looking

was not going to go elect how dare renault build this to change my mind this could be my 33rd renault cant stop the drooole😍
Hopefully Australia will get this little ripper!
Extremely handsome car! Hope it drives as it looks: fun, easy, cool. Renault has a winning ace with this car.
this is a piece of art. I'd get it. Hope someone can make a compact sedan. Like the Japanese ones in the 70s
Great review Ginny. I think this car is going to be a real winner.
It looks fantastic, still about £5k too much for a small family hatch. Hopefully it will get heavily discounted in a years time like Peugeot E208 and Vauxhall Corsa then I can see it being a fantastic seller.
Great video, the design logic makes sense. I'm sure this will be popular
I love it. It really could be an instant classic. I hope it is well-built.
I like it, I saw pictures of the concept car last year, but I wasn´t sure is it real. I hope they give the classic tiny door handles to the 2 door version.
My new heart-throb. .....and the Renault is fantastic too. I hope they do well with it !
Beautiful.... just beautiful
Looks great. How wide is it? Practical fitting in my garage question. My corsa e fits but something a touch narrower would be grand. And the 5 is better looking
Just hope their dealer network is up to scratch!
First new car I've wanted for decades. Bravo Renault.
The colours are fabulous!!
Can i ask a question the Ambient lighting on the dash is lit up yellow is this able to change different colours 🤔 thanks 👍
