Baking soda is best for getting the bugs to go out of your fruits and vegetables, I fear that you will lose your mushrooms as they were put in with the greens that have different humidity needs, mushrooms don’t like getting wet and they lose their nutrients faster in humidity, they need there own container and climate in your fridge, I think you made a wise investment in your new keepers

Hi Linna, Your new storage boxes are a great investment! You are so right to invest instead of being frugal for these types of items. And I'm learning about different kinds of vegetables I've never heard of before. In the Netherlands, we separate all our garbage. Different containers for all sorts of items. So I have a large container for fruit/vegetable/garden greens. One for paper, one for all sorts of plastic and one for other garbage. Yes, there are four 240 litre containers at the back of my house. A different color for each type of use. The city comes to collect once a week. There is almost no plastic anymore on items. It is prohibited. And we also have to pay a little bit extra for soda cans and plastic bottles, which we get back when we return the empty ones. It's a deposit system. Glass goes into a special container which is located next to the supermarket. There is also a container for cooking oil/baking grease. And a special one for batteries. We can bring broken household items, old medication, and chemical waste and some more stuff once a month to a special lorry that collects it in the neighbourhood. We all have a box in our house where we can collect it in, and bring that to the lorry. At first, when we started to separate, I didn't know what to think of it. Now, I'm happy that we are separating so much. It's better for the environment. And I'm shocked how much plastic waste there is. I'm living only on tube feeding and IV fluids. And that is a lot of plastic. I wish it was different, but I get that it has to be packaged this way. Thankfully, I can separate all the plastic waste so it can be melted and re-used again. Well, that was a long story. I hope your boys are happy with their new clothes and bottles. I'm wishing you a wonderful weekend. Saying "hallo" from the Netherlands.❤ 🤗 🇳🇱
I saved the recipe for that meat! I have some in my freezer now. Also, crown daisy looks interesting but we don't have it here. Google says it's slightly bitter? I'd like that. Everything looked absolutely delicious and healthy. I've started storing my veggies in a similar way, and it really helps them last, especially as I am just cooking for one person. I still end up with extra because my market doesn't sell in quantities for one person. But I do what I can. I really appreciate you showing so many ways to make vegetables.
Hi Linna, those containers are fabulous! I can tell how much you care about them and washing and keeping your vegeys nice! I already thought that you eat healthy😊 Fun clothes shopping! Such a lovely video, thank you! Karen Yarnell, AZ USA
I was taught by my grandmother to soak veggies in water and white vinegar for( cold water) for 10 mins. Then rinse well. If not white vinegar than baking soda or salt. Then rings well. To kill off bugs or eggs or pollen on them. I’m in north east USA
There was a study done recently that shows a baking soda and water bath will break down pesticides. Another one showed the same for a mix of salt and vinegar, but it has to be a strong solution. Either solution should kill bacteria as well.
those food containers from nitori are such a good innovation! you can try using baking soda or vinegar to clean your vegetables/fruit! for fruits, i usually use an air tight container or mason jars so it doesn’t mould easily :)

Your cleaning your vegetables correctly, I used to wash them in lots of water and add white vinegar, but I was told anything, but cold water will soak into the vegetables.
You can buy veggie wash, I think some of the supermarkets sell it. Also you can get this device that cleans the veggies. But I’m not too sure about it. I just use veggie wash. Those boxes are great. I put carrots in them.

I sometimes use scentless baby soap to wash fruit or veggies with really hard skin (e. g. melons) before peeling them. I just don't like to eat stuff that many other people touched and feel like water isn't enough... but I also have OCD, so my opinion on that is not the average one. 😅 You actually shouldn't wash your fruit and veggies before putting them in the fridge, b/c it leads to creating an environment where bacteria can thrive and can shorten the shelf-life of your produce. But I guess as long as you finish it soon it should be fine. And as for: "There is nothing a single person or a family could do..." Well, I guess it's not that easy in Japan, since Japan is fantastic at recycling but also superb at creating lots of waste to begin with ... but what you could do is vehemently not to buy veggies that are packaged in plastic. If possible, buy them at the farmer's market, for example. It's always a matter of supply and demand. I'm from Germany... and there are some things in plastic, but you can actually get everything without if you'd like to.
