The no costumes rule is a bummer. I have never been to Disney or Universal ,but I know Harry Potter fans go around in the robes and Hogwarts attire with little to no problems . I wish Disney would relax and allow guest to wear in universe clothing that way it can make your experience as well as others unique. It is obvious who cast members are because they look distinct and have cast member nametags.

They dont want guests mistaking other guests as costumed employees...
They've had many many issues with guests posing as characters and that's why they dont want you dressing up. Some people can ruin it for all of us. But that's how the world is now.
@@txdraw Yeah but cast members don't dress as Jedi, and you aren't dressed as a particular character. and cast members also where name tags. This could easily be solved by selling or giving away a themed button/pin that says "not a cast member" that must be visible at all times if you wanted to dress up.

honestly idk how long this will be a rule since the big rumor of the star wars hotel was that they would allow those guests to wear costume in the park, but that the outfits are pre-approved, idk how this will work or even if it’s true, it’s just something i’ve heard a lot.
Legionere even if you could be I. Costume in Galaxys edge the problem would be you wouldn’t be able to wear it till you got into Galaxys edge as you have to walk through the rest of the park to get there. So everyone would be clogging up the bathroom changing into costumes. So it’s not really practical. That’s maybe part of the reason they didn’t accept costumes for Galaxys edge?
I can understand not dressing up like a character. But random Jedi is not a character. There should be no confusion

They are worried that a guest will be confused for a cast member/ walk around character. Seeing as SW fans are particularly fickle and childish, imagine if your little boy was so excited to meet a SW character and some unkept asocial mess ruined that experience for them by acting like a dink but in perfect cosplay. That is why. I don't agree with it either.
Its also because its really easy to take a kid if you dressed as a character they like, its also because people could harass a guest for pictures etc. Or the other way around the guest harass people.

Teresa Harris you can carry the lightsaber you built, but you cannot wear costumes except for on certain days. Halloween being the major one.

Yeah lol they should probs make these shitty things out of more biodegradeable material too considering how much use they will (not) be getting in their lifespan. As is, the polyester fibres we already created have been choking out entire ecosystems and will outlast all of us. Can't really pretend they care about the longevity of our planet whilst pumping out 500 000 Polyester shawls that will only get worn once, ever.
They dont want guests mistaking costumed guests as park employees, hence the no cosplay rule. Youll just have to wear it at a convention, Halloween party....

You can't wear them in the park because there are rules at Disney. Being mistaken for a costumed character is a BIG DEAL. That is why they only allow wearing costumes for MNSSHP time of year.
I'd wear it to conventions honestly and Halloween. It'll look nice displayed at home too.

I'm not into dressing up, but there are some great options being offered to those that do. I understand the reasoning behind not being able to cosplay at Disney, but I wish you could because I have plenty of friends that would really enjoy adding that to their experience.

I’ll say this, as much as it is a missed opportunity to not dress the part or be able to use the lightsaber, they should have made a special area for it at the very least and on top of that kids should be able to dress the part but let’s be honest there are more than just blending in with the actors that worries Disney, I’m sure they don’t want people catching heat exhaustion or hurting themselves while in the robes, I’m sure there where multiple factors at play when making the rules🤷🏻♂️. It would be cool to be surrounded by nothing but cosplayers/ actors with droids running around, lightsabers clashing and laser guns a shootin 🤤

No, it’s a part of Disneyland. There’s no way to access Galaxy’s Edge without going through the main Disneyland turnstiles.

I believe the plan in WDW is you stay at a themed resort and you definitely can wear the clothing.
That fancy clasp is a basic hook and eye closure; available at any fabric store.
Did that black tunic also come in adult sizes? It looks the same as the beige one, just a different colour, but I really like the black.
Most of those robes are sold out this year unless you go to Disneyland. Luckily I got mine years ago.

I believe all the adults are one size. You would have to try them on to know which size works best for you.

Dante P I think the price of the Jedi tunics are ok but the robes are extremely overpriced. They look like very light material and if you had the skills I’m more than sure you could make one of your own.

No, thats just commercial mark up in the west. People have been wearing leather for centuries so its not expensive just not as popular.
What you generally are paying for is the production cost of boots, gloves, hats. That forming or stiching is an art and I agree it costs.
On top of that is branding, which is just the tag. Disney parks are notorious for markup even compared to other amusment parks.
I would not buy a PLEATHER belt for $60. The buckle and decorative clasp probably cost less than $10 and the strap $3. And $7 for the SW tag and $40 bc you bought it at a tourist trap.
A disney outfit is 3 pieces, belt, and boots. At the prices they charge this would easily come to $600 per outfit. And you still got something generic off the rack.
If you took $300 to an average seamstress you could get a personally tailored piece with customized elements (color, fabric, piping, buttons, etc). And it would drape right when you move. You would be happier with the finished product and it will last.
Star wars clothes are really an amalgam of identifiable clothes from several cultures, so its not something they can copyright. Although I can see them trying to. My point is it would be easy to create patterns.
If you just love disney and want to support them, go for it. Im not trying to hurt anyone's feelings or take away thier joy. But you buy these clothes at the park and you cant even wear them. Thats just too bad ...💔😭
...and we didnt yet discuss the $300 lightsaber you cant have out at the park. So we are at $900 now.

I think there is a large segment of the population that would rather wear pleather than kill animals to get real leather, and Disney will cater to that.

Many designs do not include usable function, such as mobile phone size accommodation as shown. Price is very high but items are visually appealing.
