The voice acting in these has gotten insanely good. Like on the same level as the very best from animation or video games. It's honestly kind of blowing my mind a little bit.
The Clockwork Man... simply a masterpiece. A song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of Singularity and the importance of bargains. It's also a personal statement about Creepio himself!
6:40 The stormtroopers' space tundra shanty might be the best thing Auralnauts has made so far: 1. The layers of worldbuilding and lore. 2. It sounds awesome. 3. Even Obi-Wan remembered it after all those years. 4. How it humanizes the stormtroopers without directly making them part of a joke.
As a piece of music connected to the series of parodies it works beautifully. As an extension of the personality given to the Stormtroopers as existentialists toiling away long hours with nothing to do but be in each others company, it excels. I can't remember if that long scene from the first season of the Mandalorian should take credit, as even really really old shorts about the banal existence of a storm trooper are out there, but it's such a good well to draw from and this might be my favourite example of it now.
The moment where Obi Wan threw himself into the fire to get warm was a bad time to have a mouth full of water, and I spent a good minute trying to stop laughing and either choking to death or getting water everywhere.
Something similar happened to me. I was eating alone at someone's house whilst they were doing other stuff around the house, and I watching Ep II of Auralnauts with earphones. The part where Larry lands on Kamino with old school hip hop music blasting from his ship and Jango and Bobba just look at eachother ... first I almost choked on the drink too, then I had to go to the bathroom only to have a laughing fit and not seem weird.

I love that Creepio's story is so deep. Makes me wonder if he could be the main antagonist of ep.9 (red eyes, Sidious is just his literal puppet, singularity lightning!)

I really, really thought that the stormtroopers were about to start singing "IT'S BABY TIME" when they mentioned the ballad of the clockwork man. The sea shanty was a welcome surprise

The thing is, I commented after listening to the song several times and, having forgotten that they actually said its name in the lead up to its story, I independently dubbed it what I did. I wasn’t the only one, so it’s not like this was a unique phenomenon. Another related point: having forgotten they named it, I identified it as a ballad, not because of the name, but because I independently knew that the song was, in fact, a ballad. I also realized (i.e., I remembered when rewatching) they named it long before I saw your reply. I deliberately chose not to change it for two reasons: 1. It’s dramatic irony in that the characters doubtlessly just see the Clockwork Man as a myth or a legend (though one they should be wary of, just in case), but we know it’s Creepio since we don’t live in the Auralverse, and 2. Who cares? We know it’s Creepio because, you know, we don’t live in the Auralverse. It will have its correct title on the EP and we know who it is, so it’s a case of toe-may-toe/toe-mah-toe in the context of a TH-cam comment section.
This is why I like these cats. Their attention to detail is frightening. At 4:37, when Kirby turns to look at Larry, his shadow orients in sync, giving an effect of realism to sell the story.
This is more coherent than the original Obi-Wan series. We now understand the rift between Mr. Palpatine and Anakin: his gifted employee couldn’t deal with the damn Jedi problem!
Freaking Anakin is my favorite part of this whole series, so I'm way glad Disney made this series at least so that we could get more of Auralnaut's take on him. xD He's legit the only sane character in the entire series.
The best compliment I can possibly give you guys is that no matter what I think of the quality of any of the Star Wars productions since the originals, it makes me so happy to know that they provide more raw material for y’all’s brilliant reimaginings of them. Like honestly you guys redeemed the prequels for me. I got a whole new level of enjoyment out of them thru y’all’s videos. Fun stuff.
The Palpatine voice is on point. I'm dying. Also, the Clockwork Shanty is truly delightful music and better/more creative than any of the non-Williams music in the show (and actually pays more attention to detail/worldbuilding than some aspects of the show).
The fact they handle their internal lore with more aplomb and propriety says so much about their passion and Disney's lack of it. A sea shanty inspired by legend spread of the singularity undoubtedly about Creepio and demonstrates how mythos evolves over time and space, literally. Absolute juice, boys.
The Clockwork Man is now stuck in my head so it must be doing something right. Also it’s kind of embarrassing how much more sense this makes compared to the original.
@@James_Bee It's a classic blunder. JJ a good guy but he was so afraid of making a black guy look bad, he forgot to give him morally gray scenes that make him interesting.
You can tell The Clockwork Man Shanty was a salve to Creepio's cracked, wounded heart. If only he'd known who the man was behind the Vader mask. Knowing who that merger of technology and flesh was could have healed him completely. (And Damn did Vader have some bomb moves)
I don't think it's physically or metaphysically possible for me to be more HERE for Stormstroopers engaging in a D&D session plot where they need to sing sea shanties to cross a perilous road successfully from eldritch abominations. This might be the most beautiful Dub of anything I've ever seen.

The thing is, I commented after listening to the song several times and, having forgotten that they actually said its name in the lead up to its story, I independently dubbed it what I did. I wasn’t the only one, so it’s not like this was a unique phenomenon. Another related point: having forgotten they named it, I identified it as a ballad, not because of the name, but because I independently knew that the song was, in fact, a ballad.
I also realized (i.e., I remembered when rewatching) they named it long before I saw your reply. I deliberately chose not to change it for two reasons:
1. It’s dramatic irony in that the characters doubtlessly just see the Clockwork Man as a myth or a legend (though one they should be wary of, just in case), but we know it’s Creepio since we don’t live in the Auralverse, and
2. Who cares? We know it’s Creepio because, you know, we don’t live in the Auralverse. It will have its correct title on the EP and we know who it is, so it’s a case of toe-may-toe/toe-mah-toe in the context of a TH-cam comment section.
This is why I like these cats. Their attention to detail is frightening. At 4:37, when Kirby turns to look at Larry, his shadow orients in sync, giving an effect of realism to sell the story.
Came for "One Drug Please" jokes, get a ballad about Creepio and the Singularity Engine instead. Solid continuity gold!

The best compliment I can possibly give you guys is that no matter what I think of the quality of any of the Star Wars productions since the originals, it makes me so happy to know that they provide more raw material for y’all’s brilliant reimaginings of them. Like honestly you guys redeemed the prequels for me. I got a whole new level of enjoyment out of them thru y’all’s videos. Fun stuff.
The Palpatine voice is on point. I'm dying.
Also, the Clockwork Shanty is truly delightful music and better/more creative than any of the non-Williams music in the show (and actually pays more attention to detail/worldbuilding than some aspects of the show).
The stormtroopers' harmonizing about Creepio was genuinely touching.

The fact they handle their internal lore with more aplomb and propriety says so much about their passion and Disney's lack of it. A sea shanty inspired by legend spread of the singularity undoubtedly about Creepio and demonstrates how mythos evolves over time and space, literally. Absolute juice, boys.
The Clockwork Man is now stuck in my head so it must be doing something right.

The editing in this dancefight was epic. It contained four times the midichlorians of any other dancefight.

I've gone from hating the sequels, prequels, and inbetweenquels to hoping the franchise never dies, infinite Auralnauts content being the sole reason.
You can tell The Clockwork Man Shanty was a salve to Creepio's cracked, wounded heart. If only he'd known who the man was behind the Vader mask. Knowing who that merger of technology and flesh was could have healed him completely. (And Damn did Vader have some bomb moves)
