  • Hurricane Ida will continue to strengthen and make landfall likely as a major hurricane in Louisiana late this weekend.
    Hurricane Ida is in the Gulf of Mexico and will undergo rapid intensification over the next 24 hours. No major shifts in the track or timing. It's still expected to make landfall in southeast Louisiana Sunday early evening as a major hurricane with winds in excess of 130 MPH. As of Saturday morning, the winds are up to 85 MPH and gusts are up to 100 MPH as the center is now in open, Gulf waters.

      @Jean-tt6on 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@jr3254 yeah I got ready four days ago. Our local network, KHOU posted a ten minute clip on IG warning us about Ida and you could tell they were trying to not freak us out... but still make us aware of how grave this could be. The spaghetti models were split between Houston and NOLA at that time.. so I did my hurricane shopping then because I figured if it came to us this weekend the stores would be depleted. We can't evacuate, have too many animals. Last time we evacuated for Hurricane Rita it was a complete nightmare.. took us 4 hours to get 50 miles away. So I figured all we can do is prepare to hunker down as best as possible if it heads here. It looks like it keeps drifting west and even though I'd hate for any of Louisiana to get hit - it is almost for the best. The more westward it moves, the more it moves away from the densely populated areas (less people to rescue if things get catastrophic) and the less the dirty side impacts NOLA.

    Weather channel says Nola isn't worried about flooding because of their new seawall. People also weren't worried about the Titanic sinking. Mother nature has a way of busting through whatever you do. The only sure bet is just get out of the way. New Orleans is still below sea level.
    Florida is gearing up for rescue missions in Louisiana. We have been there before and it appears we expect to be there again. The Cajun Navy and their airboats are standing by. I hope what the weather channel is saying is correct but don't bet your Life on it folks because hurricanes are notorious for doing the unexpected.
    Just heard a young woman on the weather channel saying that taking all of her kids in a car and staying in a hotel is just too difficult so she's staying put. I guess I can understand that because staying in your home that's flooded out and probably partially collapsed would be so much more comfortable. Lady there's a cat 4 coming right at you and it's possible that by the time it gets there it could be a cat 5. As I said earlier in this comment hurricanes often do the unexpected. This of course means the hurricane may not get as bad as predicted, but I wouldn't plan on the best, I would plan for the worst and hope for the best. Perhaps you may want to call your next of kin to say goodbye. I certainly hope you have an ax so that you can chop a hole in the ceiling of your attic so that you can climb out onto the roof of your house if you need to.

    When Hurricane Ida maintains its destructive powers while reaching land tonight. There's a chance it will head straight for the eastern United States, over the Atlantic Ocean the Hurricane will regain power and continue straight for New York as an extremely destructive, phenomenal Nature monster.
    Let's hope our friends, their families, their loved ones, all Humanity, and Nature stay safe.
