There was an animated national flag and party flag, and some other animated pictures. After the Arduous March these were replaced with the ones you see today at Kim Il Sung square.
This is the only close-up footage of the LED flag I know, there are a few others but due to the quality you can't really make it out. I think this one was on the Ministry of Foreign Trade building on Kim Il Sung square from the late 60s to the late 90s I believe. There was a similar LED flag with the DPRK's national flag displayed right in front of this on another government building. Both of them have been removed in the late 90s.
Although I wouldn't want to live there at all, North Korea is in a weird way a fascinating and interesting country. This gives me Halloween vibes for some reason.
