As we come into the second half of 2021, there are a lot of new Chromebooks here and on the way. It feels like every time we turn around there's a new package arriving in the office that begs for attention. We're getting to them one by one - don't you worry - but there are certain Chromebooks that arrive that are cause for a bit of extra excitement and they basically demand to be put on camera as soon as they enter the room. The HP Chromebook x2 11 is absolutely one of those Chromebooks.

@Chrome Unboxed, the elevated keyboard also gives it a slight ergonomic advantage depending upon handsize and so forth and so on. It is a blessing for people that have to type for significant amounts of time.

When you do the reviews for the tablets, I'd love to see them next to each other to compare the physical size. Just telling me how big the screen is doesn't really help me visualize it.

@@Ignacio.Romero Absolute nonsense. You've been listening too much to Apple biased tech reviewers. Android tablets are doing very well worldwide with lots of big name companies like Xiaomi & Lenovo increasing their output and Samsung selling more tablets than they have in a long time.
Android apps scale to all screen sizes and work as well on a tablet as they do on a phone. iOS apps are not all tablet optimised and they look worse than Android apps.
You can do way more on Android tablets than you can on any iOS tablet plus iPads are awful for watching movies with those massive black bars. I download torrents on my Samsung S7 plus, run gaming emulators and so much more.
For the record I love Chromebooks as well but they've gotten way better since Android apps were compatible. The fact most Android apps run well on Chromebooks again shows how well Android apps scale to different screen sizes. iPads are absolute dogshit in comparison running the restrictive iOS.

Just a few thoughts, google needs to make sure that it's still making relevant apps and not just making this app or other apps just because apple is making it's notes app more integrated. Cursive, google keep, feel like a missed opportunity to make something specifically for students, or others that need these apps. Make or buy out an existing note app (notion) and add it to your line of services. Also chrome os still needs a lot of work for tablets, now imagine that and a better design plus google's tensor chip on each tablet except they all look and feel different so you have more choices.

Just purchased this Chromebook! Mostly using it for zoom and note taking and google docs. I love the idea of it being so portable and smaller because I plan on taking it to many places regularly throughout each week.
I already have a gaming laptop that works great for games and stuff and just needed something that's not so big and just for note taking and I love that it comes with a stylus. Though I may actually just end up using the keyboard most of the time.
I will try to let you guys know what it's like using it. It should be here in a few days

    • @chrislslate
      @chrislslate 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Okay. I absolutely love this Chromebook tablet. I use it as both a tablet and a Chromebook everyday. I came from an ASUS Chromebook c302 with an M5 processor. And this snapdragon c processor is faster than my Intel M5 Chromebook. So if you're coming from something with lower specs, Even though this is an entry level Snapdragon processor. It holds up to my daily routine tasks. I even played plenty of games on it from the Play store with no problems.
All in all I do recommend this Chromebook tablet. If you were wanting a Chromebook and a tablet that you can enter change whenever you please, then this may be the Chromebook for you. Keep in mind it's not a hardcore heavy duty super fast top of the line Chromebook.
I would definitely wait until it's on sale. I would not pay the $600.
The USI Pen is okay. It works. There have been sometimes when I'm using it with Android apps to scroll, that there are times when it doesn't recognize that I'm using the stylus or it just seems a little slow. But the majority of the time it seems to work really snappy. I have noticed some issues with using squid to take notes on. The majority of the time it works fine on squid. But I've noticed when I'm switching back from landscape and portrait mode using the pen can glitch out sometimes.. but overall the pen works really well. In fact it works well enough that I use it daily.
If you have any questions let me know!

Octane 2.0 in the 22-24k mark, and WebGL Aquarium is 60 FPS at 1000 fish, around 33-34 FPS at 5,000 fish. It performs similar to the Intel Core m3 7Y30 in the Samsung CB Plus V2 from 2018, but should receive updates through 2028-29. Didn't run Jetstream or Speedometer on it, but it is as of today, by FAR the best ARM CPU in any ChromeOS device. Lenovo Duet gets 9.5-11k Octane 2.0 for reference.

This was on display directly next to the Acer Spin 713 at my local Best Buy. Sure, the HP X2 11 without the kickstand and keyboard is a 2-lb tablet, but when completely put together it actually felt HEAVIER to me than the Spin 713, and I don't imagine carrying it around without the stand and keyboard. Unfortunately, I didn't snag the 713 when it was only sale for only $20 more than the X2 11. I also expect the 713 might have a smaller footprint than the X2 11 when you consider the extra space taken by the kickstand combined with the keyboard. Despite the need to buy a USI stylus separately, I would probably get the 713, unless the X2 11 goes on sale, as Robby said.

I've had the HP Chromebook X2 for almost 3 years and have tried to talk myself into any other two-in-one and none have been this good. THIS X2 11 ... this looks like a buy for me to replace this. I don't understand why more manufacturers don't angle the keyboards like the Surface. One of the biggest plus of the original X2 was they built in the angle. Not only does it stabilize the the keyboard, but its easier to use when typing with a small angle rather than flat on the table.

This is a great Chromebook! I've had it for a few months, which was another few months after my first laptop was sent to purgatory, and I'm satisfied with it. I use it for school work and general internet browsing. I drop anything that's meant for a table a lot and it's survived every fall. I broke a school macbook that had a glass screen, so very glad chromebooks have a different material. The only things on it are a few bumps on the edge and sadly a chunk of the metal next to the pen magnet broke off. But that's actually a good thing because it dented my stylus since it was bumped up. I also broke my cameras :( they're blurry and can't focus. I rarely use it in tablet form, it never comes to my mind that it'd be better used that way. Also, I do not know where my stylus is. Help. This is definetly not a gaming laptop, you can play some stuff and mess around with Linux but don't expect to play Overwatch. I play Genshin Impact on it, but the graphics are lackluster and the framerate can degrade.
I surprisingly get a bit of attention because of this laptop, people pointing out how small it is, assuming it's an Ipad, asking if it's a laptop or a tablet. Somebody called it "A neat little tablet thing."
    It's definetly a good purchase :)

I'm not a fan of the 3:2 ratio, but this one definitely has the superior accessories package. That keyboard looks actually usable. Unfortunately between the price tag and the 7c there's not a real incentive to upgrade from the Duet yet. I'd probably give this one a go for $450, but we need tablets with A77 and A78 cores in 2021. I'm guessing by the time we get those it'll be too late as well.

I also have $450 in mind for the price point. The Duet is okay, but it was only $300. My Acer Spin 713 with an i5 was around $600. Wish it had a newer processor.

Looking forward to the full review. I have a Duet...I want to know how this compares as far as speed and usability? I know the screen is a bit larger than the Duet, but what kind of usability difference is there? Also, I have the original HP X2 and started using it again a few months ago...the screen is a bit too big for a stand-alone tablet, but the larger screen makes watching videos fantastic. Also, the m3 7th Gen chip makes the thing fairly usable even now. How does this new x2 compare to the original in terms of speed and usability?
In other words, what are the reasons to ditch the Duet and/or Original X2 for this? (while also ditching $600)

From your experience how fast is the duet ?

    • @DavidMullens
      @DavidMullens 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@cobaltblue5523 It's not bad, but if I have a couple of apps loaded in, it seems like the screen will stop updating for the app. THe tablet still works, but I have to close the app and restart it. From time to time I have to reboot the device as well. I assume the MediaTek processor or the 4 gigs ram can't keep up. One reason why I'll use the Original X2...but it's big and heavy.
Would have loved if the new version had a newer or faster chip in it. Not sure about spending $600 (I spent that on the Spin 713 with an i5), until I see some kind of review.

@@cobaltblue5523 I love the Spin 713. I can't speak to the other two, but the Spin's been great. The only issue has been the two rubber (foam) pieces on the bottom outside corners of the screen came off about three months after I had it. I think they were to keep it from scratching the table...but I usually use it on my lap...perhaps why they came off.
using it as a laptop has been great. It replaced my original HP X2. I really wanted an i7, but don't know if I really needed it.

Beware everyone: when using this on my lap, I noticed the trackpad was clicking simply by resting my palms on the keyboard deck to the left and right of the trackpad. Even moderate pressure on my lap was doing this.
Also, the keyboard feels pretty cheap in my opinion. Compared to the 12.5" keyboard on the older x2, it feels much worse in this model. I'm not talking about it being smaller but the quality. The performance will be adequate for most people and the screen is incredible, but the keyboard was a huge letdown for me.
You have to understand that this is an 11" device, the keyboard will be crammed. But I expected better quality in a $600 device.

@Joseph Sakata yes very disappointing. I think this is going to be a deal breaker for me and I'm probably going to return it. Another weird thing that happened with me is when I go to certain websites on the Chromebook, I'm flagged for suspicious browser activity. When I try the same websites on other devices, I don't run into those issues. I really had high hopes for this device :-(

just got one of these a week ago, so far so good, bought it to replace thie Acer Spin 11 I got a few years back, oddball chromebook, 2 in 1 with 2 cameras, just way underpowered. just confused why the chrome OS on the x2 11 is only 32 bit, with 8gb ram and this arm cpu it can handle 64bit (dont give me nonsense about ARM cant handle 64 bit os peoperly, look at android. if my underpowered acer with a celeron 3350 and 4gb ram can get 64bit, c'mon :>. anyway, I watched both videos you did on this chromebook, liked them both, didnt agree with everything you said but not too far off... had a lenovo flex 5i (Pentium gold 7505 powered) was fast, but only 4gb ram, 32GB storage... I returned it, was also too big for how I wanted to use it

When it started talking I thought it was coming from my device. Looks like a nice upgrade from Lenovo Duet which is promising but also disappointing in that it doesn't handle browsing Reddit without slowing down and Facebook without crashing after scrolling back more than a day's content probably due to limited 4GB RAM.
