- I later found out why the AI were easy in the back but not at the front, it was the setting in there for "wide" skill range. If you set this to something else you will have a heck of a time with 105 difficulty. EDIT - I noticed I forgot to save the changes for 105 that is why I had a 95 speed rating. They were originally at 90.
Not my greatest drive but my first attempt while recording. I do get better with the next videos ;)

My speed rating was a 98 because I was an idiot and forgot to save the changes to the settings when I bumped it form 90 to 105. Doh! If I had their skill level set to narrow I would have been smoked.

8:25 - 8:27 Looked like 105 saved to me. So if you run it on wide at 105....what skill levels are assigned to the field? Would it be like 90-105?

It does sound really good!... it does seem like they shift a bit earlier than they do in real life.. isn't it around like 9000-9200 RPM and not like 8000?
Conlin Wysocki I believe it was on manual and he was quick shifting, I like to stretch the gears too and shift at 9k
@@mosscaballero2536 was the AI like that as well? I couldn't tell... I just know that at the Road Courses the drivers like to ride out the gears a lot.. lol

Genuinely impressed with this iteration. Graphics look like AAA quality for the most part, the sim-ish physics sound exciting and those sounds are blissful. Looking forward to this one!
Not trying to hate, but the graphics look like a 360/ps3 game forza is AAA graphics
@@josephbeebe4312 I agree NH4 is not stunning, but as improvements go, the last game left A LOT to be desired. There's also the youtube compression that makes everything look grainy and unrefined. Truth of the matter, the Unity engine isn't the strongest of the pretty engines but it is cheap to produce games on. Hell, Unreal 4 is--by gaming standards--ancient, but with all the back end improvements over its life cycle it's still a very formidable platform to use for gorgeous games.
Damn those revs at 11:30 are awesome. And the entire racing experience is so excellent sounding and realistic
They improved the engine noise finally.
The way you are driving here is very reminiscent of the old Thunder games.

McMurray's spin was so satisfying, like I don't think I've seen the AI in any NASCAR game make that kind of mistake (only in iRacing, where y'know... it's people)

No disrespect to NASCAR heat 2 and 3 but this sounds and looks a hell of a lot better I love NASCAR heat 3 but this. I need to get! Thanks for the video much appreciated! And I been loving your older truck simulator videos and bus simulator. The train ones are cool.

When the car cranked up on pit road, that was music to my ears. Blown away by the car audio!
The replay again when the cars go by you hear those lovely engines that sound so real now. Awesome.
I love when you are sitting on pit road in practice and you haven't fired up, you can hear the cars going by in practice just like you would if you were there! When I was in Chicagoland for my first IRL MENCS race I was blown away how amazing the constant sound of cars going by was. This really captures that!

A lot of good signs here. 704 is on a very good path and I think the future of NASCAR games is in good hands with them.

They should get a deal with world of outlaws late models...it would make the dirt aspect of the game a lot better because you would have real drivers and real paint schemes.

I’m from the uk,so it’s probably rare for you guys from the states to hear this but I love NASCAR racing and have since I was a young boy!!! Game looks awesome!! “This ones for you Harry...”. “I know Cole, he ALWAYS goes high!”
Holy shit do these graphics look amazing. As long as the handling of cars are better than previous games this had a TON of potential
Looks very promising my only fear is how late it takes to pull a caution that was to second most infuriating thing was sliding through the grass after i get ping ponged and a caution sometimes never even came out.
I wish one day they will make a classic 70s nascar, really love the look of those cars

I’m liking what I’m seeing so far with this game. It definitely looks like a huge improvement from the previous Heat games and their progress in making a good racing game is certainly showing.
Day to Night transitions is an awesome addition, in my opinion. Very excited for this game. Hats off to 704 Games and everybody involved for listening to the fans, it's rare to see that nowadays. Thanks Jeff, for the gameplay. Might finalize my pre-order now...

I am so glad they changed the overlays for the replays. I hated that in HN3.
Okay I’m sold on this. The different racing lines are going to be great. Also the nighttime transition is a nice change
Wow really stepped it up this time around. I have not played video games for years, but I saw the first few games by these developers and it was not missing much, but looks like they really turned it around. Good job developers it has been a while since the fans have had a crew willing to listen to concerns and take criticism and use it to make the game better.

Wow! This looks really good. I want to go get a current gen console now so I can snag a copy of this! Monster has come a long way with this series. I still remember all the hate from Heat Evo, and those guys have taken all of the feedback and made a great looking game out of it! Can't wait for the release. Great video, Jeff! I played Nascar2003 for the longest. But I must say I really LOVE NH4. I tryed expert last night and won at Michigan 100 Ai. Gonna try 103 tonight see if I can keep up hehe. U can really feel the car get loose on expert.

I would like to see 105 difficulty at Atlanta just to see if the tire falloff per track makes a difference. Atlanta is known for eating tires alive. Thank you a lot Jeff for this information, we really appreciate your hard work!

The more I see of this game, the more I'm excited & happy about it. I haven't bought a NASCAR game in forever and thought I'd get this one, and as I see more & more I feel great about my decision. I've wanted a game similar to 06's Total Team Control. This might be it.
Jeff Gordon is still making more money retired per year than most of the Nascar full circuit racers. It's unbelievable. He's also a Colts fan so his heart is probably broken right about now. Hang in there Jeff.
Definitely seems like they've nailed the in between market for iRacing to arcade. It isn't a sim by any means, but can't be called an arcade racer either. It has the best of both worlds to sell with both audiences: As a challenging, but intuitive fun arcade racer to the casual fan-base; or a more casual sim with heavier career elements present to the more sim-sided fans. Basically fits the same mold that the Codemasters F1 games have filled for years for F1.
Are you sure this was done at max (105) AI difficulty? You were just blowing by them even while making mistakes... edit: Duh, I see you addressed this right in the description. My bad.

For the nighttime racing, they could include a better shadow system, where the cars every time they pass a light on the track a new shadow is created, outside and inside the cockpit. When the cars are next to the wall the are next to the wall shadows are casted. onto the wall.
How does this compare to NASCAR Racing 2003 Season? Still the best NASCAR racing sim ever...

The game looks fantastic but one thing i don't like is that the skill range being set to wide even if you have the AI difficulty set to 105 ends up being easy. I want the field to spread out at every track I go to (besides Daytona and Talladega) but I don't want them to be easy. Unless they can improve that in a patch it looks like I gotta run comprised instead of wide. I want a challenge at the end of the day. That was the only negative I saw in this video. Everything else looks fantastic. I'm looking forward to seeing the career mode statistics hopefully real soon.

In your rookie year of a series will you have rookie stripes? Or if you pick a car to drive like the #8 car for example and It's your sophomore season will the stripes go away?
Apparently this is something they've added but we probably won't know till right before release. We know for certain that the last name of your driver shows up on the car's back window now, so here's to hoping it is.

There should be the possibility to set up the AI even to 150%. Why not? Imho would be great for a long time challange.
It looks really amazing but I hope the highest difficulty is such that I'd have to be super consistent just to make up tenths of a second to catch cars after a few laps and have an even tougher time trying to pass, and then have to fight to stay in the lead. I want it to be nearly impossible to get in the top 5 sometimes, unless you have a really good setup. Fighting with a 10th place car for 10 laps to get stage points would feel great. It looked almost looked like real life onboard videos when you were barely catching them for a second.
My favorite part of the video was practice. The sound when you cranked it up and revved it up was awesome. The cars flying by on the track sound like you are actually at a race. One thing I like to do in practice is doing a cool down lap and coast to pit but the car would slow down too quick in heat 3 to coast back

Wow, the game looks fantastic. I've been back into playing NASCAR 2005 lately and this looks like a real successor to the old EA games (04-07 were the heyday for me). I might actually have to get this for PC.

With these settings, someone should make an ultimate settings guide for the best NASCAR game experience. I must say. I feel like they made this game amazing without anyone actually realizing it.
Edit: They should add the roof cam while your racing. Oh and you know what they should really do for the replay system? Add the NBCSN or FS1 format to give it that TV broadcast feeling.
I'm expecting to see a bunch of setting guides during the first of launch lol. And I also agree with adding the roof cam. It's in replay mode so I don't see why it can't be added in to the races
@@MoNeenja Yeah. Just keep the fisheye lenses only on replay mode. As I remember that one Jeff interview where the dev said that the fisheye lenses obstructs your view. Hence why it's not there. However, he was saying that as if that camera mode would be available while driving.
nice a trackmap finally.. and it shows who is leading the race to.. i like being able to see that if i ever dont wanna do a race and park and watch.. ya i know kinda boring watching the cars go by me haha oh well... its my version of broadcast, even tho i wish we could do that someday, but this looks nice.. i like how the AI doesnt all just follow each other in a train, some go higher up, some stay low
Finally I don't have to pull out the old games for a decent console race. NH3 had to be the worse physics of about any NASCAR game. NASCAR 98 for PC was twice the game when it came to car feel. So finally a decent feel, sound and visual gaming experience for tbe console.

Thanks for the review, good job! OK...I've got questions. Only because these NASCAR games have let me down SO many times before. 1. What happened to the crowd noise during the burnout? 2. I only saw you pit under caution, how does the AI leave and re-enter the track under green flag racing? 3. Is there any pitstop animation anymore (or did you just skip it)? 4. (This is a wish list item) Can the home garage be decorated to show past won championships, like banners, trophies, etc? It's SO frustrating to look at your home custom garage and see ZERO evidence of past championships won after racing the game for 5 or so seasons. Mmmm...I'm going to hold on to my money...for now. Cheers.

A little apprehensive but still looks okay. Like you, I'm a huge iRacing fan and LOVE oval racing in iRacing especially with the MENCS cars. I know Nascar Heat is not trying to be full-on simulator like iRacing, but I'd still appreciate some sort of realism. All those options to set everything to expert with no assists looks awesome, though where Nascar Heat 4 will shine is in the multiplayer.

Only a minor criticism of the game, but I would still like them to improve things graphically. Cars look GREAT, sky looks GREAT, but the track and structures still don't seem as realistic as I'd like. I don't know if it's a lighting thing or a saturation thing on their part, but I hope they'll work on that in the future. Not a big deal by any means, but there's significant room to improve.
Dudeeee, the audio alone makes the a huge step above the previous 3 games. Not to mention all the other improvements!

Roof cam and cockpit cam in replay are good, shame they don't put them in race.

Huge improvement over heat 3 love the sounds. The engine sound is so realistic,and love that they put day into night transition and a track map. I’m however still disappointed that they still have not put caution replay. Also damage is still the same. Nascar thunder had better damage with car fire,and body parts like hoods and fenders flying off the cars. The damage just doesn’t look realistic it’s still too arcade. These nascar games being on a new generation system should be simulation and not arcade and be more realistic with the visual graphics
