Customers got tired of being asked for money or harassed by drug users, are homeless out on the street
Customers got tired of walking over around feces and urine in the street
Customers got tired of seeing afraid of people who look like zombies who are strung out on fentanyl
Customers got tired of getting parking tickets trying to find parking downtown
Customers got tired of getting held up by gunpoint or having a friend or family member get held up by gunpoint at downtown and this stops. Many people from returning when a friend or a loved one has got physically threatened. I’m going downtown San Francisco. .
It’s become a giant Third World slum .
My family has lived here for five generations .
In the last decade, the majority of all moved away . Just last year, including myself.. probably next year my kids are moving away.

I’ve never been to SF however I bet the rich priced the poor WAY too far out the city to maintain the economy.
Now the rich are so accustomed to dealing with only other rich people and are upset that poor people still exist despite the attempt to relocate them out of eyesight.
These old rich people are now too old to physically protect themselves so they are now moving somewhere where they can hire a police force that can both commute to work in a reasonable fashion and live reasonably close to said location so that they feel connected to the city they are “protecting”.
Those homeless and drugs users were there the WHOLE TIME. Probably just a few miles over. Moral of the story a capitalist economy cannot exist without poor people. Deal with them or move.

    • @justsayknow7632

@@hakeemtarpley2998 No, those people were not there all of this time. They came to San Francisco due to the climate and because some "friend" told them to go there and that they would be tolerated.
As for the rich living there, yes there are many of them but there are still a few working class people living there as well in places (likely houses) that their families living in for many years, hence the reason they are still able to live there.
In the case of newer occupants buying houses, yes, you must be very well off to purchase a house for over a million dollars.
That said, housing prices in San Francisco are now dropping. My friend owns a house in Twin Peaks and it has dropped 1/4 million $ in a short time Soon it will drop more and more.
The way it is going, San Francisco will become a ghost town of drug addicts with nowhere to go and no one to sell them any more drugs. Awwww ... it breaks my heart NOT.
Given the history of San Francisco, I have no doubt that it will re-emerge to be a fine city once again as its backbone cannot be broken.
For the time being, it is a wait and see situation that is indeed heart breaking to this old Native.

San Francisco is very anti-business right now. I remember a story last year about an Ice Cream shop owner tried to open a store on a vacant building. He spent $200,000 securing permits and 16 months ~ but when he was finished with everything, he was told that there were new regulations and more permits to secure. Another $50k was needed. Smh.
Then you have regulators trying to fine business owners for everything that is not up to regulations. Another story is a Vietnamese restaurant got vandalized by spraypaint. Before the owners even stepped foot into their restaurant to open for the day, there was a city warning notice slapped onto their door to tell them to clean the mess up or they'll be fine $1000 a day.

California Prop 47 legalized shoplifter stolen $900 or less to be treated like a demeanor and not a criminal.
I guess San Francisco requires store owners to pay $900 to anyone to shoplifter to walk out of the store for a demeanor.
Would California also pass another prop to legalize burglar to break into a home or car and take stuff worth of $900 and be treated like a demeanor not criminal?

WTH, California sucks right now, if they would lower the rent make life affordable how it used to be nobody would steal and you wouldn’t have that many homeless, and also nobody talks about it but after Napa closed there mental hospital and the state took a cut on helping the mentally ill, the threw them on the street, that brought more rising numbers to homelessness. Lack of proper quality of life in California as far as having a roof over your head a descent job and transportation is rare especially with the younger generation 20-25, they can’t make out here. It cost at the least $7000 to get in a apartment with first last and deposit. Yesterday on the news they said a person who is making minimum wage has to work 88 hours a week to afford a one bedroom apartment in the Bay Area. Please GAVIN NEWSOM make it make sense, help your people, you worried about California going green when your people is going broke, and we are loosing money because everybody is moving out of state including me if this continues.

Big malls closed and kept moving to further out to avoid the massive criminal element ...... This is so saddening to see the commercial infrastructures just pack their bags ... But ? Things have changed for Market St. with the crime/homeless now a big part of that area. Also, workers going remote and young people's tastes are very different too. Indoor shopping malls are not in fashion, but outdoor malls with lots of eateries do much better. I wonder if the Fisherman's Wharf area in SF is doing poorly too. Lots of buskers there, but not a huge problem with homeless lying about like in the Market St. BART station exit.

Most San Francisco residents could care less that Union Square businesses and Westfield have vacated. Why? Because they don’t shop at Louis Vitton for $4000 purses, or $5000 suits or gowns at Saks Fifth Avenue, or $40K watches at Tiffany’s. Why not tear down the vacant buildings and make new parks? Convert the Westfield mall building into an LGBTQi cultural museum, and add a live music hall like Carnegie Hall in NY.
