Oh, that is easy to explain. It is connected to the amount of sales they expect from a certain model. The S65 will be a pretty exclusive car that just a few ppl will be able to afford, while the c coupe will be sold as non-amg as well with the whole mb motor range. So I do expect a bigger driving event for that car, while the S65 might be a small exclusive event for the US and/or the middle east.

I would favor the Airmatic over the MBC. It might depend on your road conditions though. The most comfortable ride I had in a long time was the CLS with Airmatic. It works with charme in the S63 and there is nothing to complain in terms of sporty driving neither.
It is very interesting to see that there a quite a bunch of reviewers like you out there, that offer 30-minute-reviews. I know how much work it is to cut this in a neat way. I wonder how long the ppl really look at this and if your effort pays off.
If it is a not a matter of money for you, I would go for the S63. There is no loss in terms of comfort at all. The power heap from the S550 to the S63 may not be too big, but I do like the S63 to roar a little louder when you tell it to run.

The S63 has a special AMG transmission, a different AMG airride system, AMG Sport seats, an AMG exhaut system and all the bagdes and body kits. Answering your fantasy question I would rather go for the S550 with the Turbo S engine as I like the idea of understatement.

The suspension is specially engineered by AMG. I liked it a lot. In comfort, it does not lack any comfort and in sport it allows you to go more sporty. Overall the Sclass is a heavy car and no racecar, so you still find enough comfort.
Well, my opinion about the MBC is not as high as yours. I thought it would "read" the street much more. It helps you against "waves" in the pavement, but does not "see" normal bumpers. Another German blogger, who is specialized on SClass, was on both driving events with me and he as well said that he enjoyed the AMG Airmatic version over the MBC/ABC of the S550/S500.
Very cool car and a very good review. The only complaint I would have about the review itself is that in some of the outdoor scenes when you were far from the camera it was sort of tough to hear you...were you not using a microphone? Either way, great job!
No, but the interieur of the new cclass that will probably presented in January 2014 at the NAIAS motor show in Detroit is very much alike. But no dual LCD though.
Jens and I are both German car bloggers. So we get invitations to the press driving events where we can drive the new cars on one or two days for a few hours. If you want to get into that business - and believe it is not getting paid well, start a blog or a youtube channel and review cars from your surroundings until you have enough traffic to the the manufacturers attention.
You need to disable the ESP functions and surely get it sideways too. But we do not treat the cars they give us in that way. But you will surely find other reviewers here on youtube that show you what you want. We wont.
I was going going to order this car in RWD (should feel a little more agile and lighter than the 4Matic you drove) but my dad's friend working at MB asked me to wait and test drive the S65 with the new direct injection engine, as it's going to be mindblowing. So I guess it's worth the wait eventhough it's going to be quite a lot more expensive than the S63 at about 230-250K€.
I just ordered the S63 AMG 4matic full of options instead of S500 4matic, and the decision moment was Your response here regarding comfort comparison of S63 vs S500 and Airmatic vs MBC impression (I have asked like month ago) :-) so thank You guys, I believe it was the right decision, despite I could only test drive S500 (S63 is/was not available here to take for a drive).

You can tell Mercedes PR dept. You have done good job, resulting in contribution of an extra 40k € for S63 over S500 (maybe even 55k € for S63 over E63) to Mercedes dealer, importer and manufacturer. So if they do not give You some provision for this, at least they should let You test/drive/review all the Mercedes cars You ask for, including S65, S-coupe etc. What I like the most here is that You discuss with people and answer their questions ;-)
I am afraid we miss the Range Rover presentation. Besides we only do English videos for German cars as we hardly get import cars early enough to get some traffic on youtube. Every once in a while we have exceptions though.
I love the R231 SL500 sooo much!!! the silky movement, feeling of lightness & agility (compared to E55)...feeling of noblesness, comfort, a perfect GT indeed! The car is such a complex perfection, every single drive in it is still an event to me. The car is worth every single euro paid for it. Most of it is due to ABC chassis I think. That is why I wanted MBC in S63, but I want also 4WD car because of winter, so when You said You would prefer Airmatic over MBC, I said to myself it will be Ok ;-)
I am trying to decide between the S550 and S63. Can you comment on ride quality and comfort between the 2? You briefly mention that in comfort mode the S63 is close to the ride in the S550... I would love furhter details on the ride difference between the 2 cars aside from the power of the engine. Do the 20" wheels make for a harder ride than the S550 19"s? I am back with some 5000 km in my new S63 AMG 4matic, that has been bought - as You remember - thanks to Your review as answers to my questions (S500 vs S63). The car is comfort itself, but pretty well composed, holding it´s ground almost in every situation. No, it is not sportscar, and Mercedes knows it. Honestly - making it sporty would be stupid. Who wants to have sportscar with 2 tons? Why? Wanna have space and sports in one car? not really. Space and comfort goes together, add a mighty V8 & 4WD and there you have it - perfect mixture. Sports? Ok, gimme nice low midsize car - thats it. So much for those critisizing missing sportiness in S63 etc. You guys never drove it, at least not for some distance, so don´t know what you are saying. S63 is so good for everyday driving, but excels in long distance trips - you end up with only 50% tired compared to almost any other car, including E-class and about 40% less than SL500. In night + rain + fog it is even more evident. basically driving S63 becomes the target, you just think where you could go.
Honestly I expected MBC to read the road more too. I have noticed some marginal improvement of S500 MBC over SL500 ABC in some situations. Nevertheless for me even the same level as SL ABC would be great thing. So it is a big question for me how S63 Airmatic can give better impression than MBC...still it is passive system...but maybe Austrian roads are less bumpy than ours in Slovakia so MBC did not have a chance to show the best tricks it can do...?
Who cares about quality if you reach the people. I am beyong judging anyone on youtube, I am rather faszinated by all the different format that work for different people.

Well, I have experience with ABC in SL500 and there it works like a miracle compared to Airmatic in E55. I did not drive coil spring version of SL500 so do not know if this is matter of ABC or SL itself, but I guess the active system in ABC is very much different story compared also to coils prings. So I assumed MBC/ABC in S500 or S63 will be better as Airmatic. When driven S500 w/MBC, it was very much like SL500 w/ABC. So I expected S63 Airmatic to be also less than S63 MBC.
I dont agree with you at all. I really like the backlights. I would indeed agree that the regualr sclass steering wheel looks much nicer than the AMG version.

No, it is as calm as the S550/S500 unless you really step on the pedal for gas. And even then the exhaust sound is more like the taste of a good wine that you still have on your tongue after the sip is down.

I actually do not like digital gauges at all. But I was amazed by the quality of the display that lets you forget that they are digital while driving.
