      @ Tammy McManus firstly, congratulations on your purchase! You won’t regret it. And what a fantastic thing to cook in it first! If you’ve never had sous vide steak before, you’re in for a real treat. I do recommend you sear your steak in vegetable or sunflower oil rather than the olive oil I used as the smoke point in olive oil is much lower.
      Thanks so much for supporting my channel. If you need any help or tips with your tm6, please ask, I’m happy to help 🙋🏻‍♂️😀 RTF

      @mariec8619 - firstly, thanks for leaving such a lovely comment, it really is very much appreciated. For me, the sous vide function is probably one of the best modes on the tm6. I found sous vide cooking an absolute revelation, it really is that good. The only down side is the limited bowl space of the tm6. I love sous vide that much, I bought a stand alone unit due to the limitations of the tm6 for cooking big joints etc. Even sous vide veg will make you wonder why you haven’t tried it before. Would love to know how your steak turns out. Thanks for stopping by 🙋🏻‍♂️😀RTF

      Refined avocado oil has a higher smoke point than olive oil at 270°C (520°F); rapeseed oil has a smoke point of 230°C (446°F) and rapeseed is grown in the UK, so far fewer air miles. Extra virgin olive oil has a smoke point in the region of 190-207°C (374-405°F); extra virgin should be used as a dressing or to make mayonnaise with, whilst virgin olive oil can be used to cook with.

      Yeah, my smoke detector would go off with this much smoke even if the fan over the stove was on high. Light olive oil has a higher smoke point as is made for sauteeing.

    Hi Richie, loving your channel here in Australia! I’ve been watching all your Thermomix vids and they’re so informative. My TM6 arrives next week so I’m dead excited to try out the Sous vide steak. QQ if I wanted to make the mash in the thermy as well for a meal would it be best to cook the steak first and put in a thermoserver to keep warm or mash first and possibly reheat? I like the idea of preparing a whole meal with the thermy - any advice would be great 👍🏻

      @RichieTheFoodie  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Simon. Thanks very much for your positive feedback, it makes all of the hard work worth it. I’m happy you find my videos informative, that’s what I set out to do. Ohh, you’re in for a treat when you start to cook sous vide, steak, chicken and vegetables are on another level! I’d sear the steak with veg oil or sunflower oil or anything with a high smoke point. I used olive oil here as it’s all I had.
      If you’re happy the thermoserver will keep everything hot enough, I’d go for that. To be honest, I’m not a fan of thermie mash, not keen on the texture. Thanks again for stopping by and showing your support. Keep me posted if you would please 🙋🏻‍♂️😀RTF

    Does it make that annoying noise everytime you use it? That going in for several hours slow cooking I. The background would drive me mad. I want one but not sure I could live with that noise

      Depending on what mode it’s in, but yes, virtually all of the time, one of the downsides. I agree, it’s very annoying! I love sous vide cooking that much, I ended up buying a stand alone unit. what is max time tm6 can sous vide for mate?

    • @RichieTheFoodie
      @RichieTheFoodie  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Richard Pearson - there’s no set time really mate. I will note that the machine isn’t exactly quiet. Long term sous vide could become slightly annoying depending on where your machine is in your house. The TM6 got me hooked on sous vide cooking which justified me buying a stand alone sous vide machine for larger, longer cooks.
      I hope this helps. Thanks for stopping by 🙋🏻‍♂️😀RTF

    Hi Richie, my TM6 is due next week so I’m binge watching Thermomix videos! Like yourself I’m a keen home cook with most of the typical “gadgets” (blender, magimix etc!), so I’m looking forward to seeing how the TM 6 can enhance my cooking further 🤞
    Enjoying your videos as they’re not “flowery” like some when showing the working of the Thermomix, and you give some good advice along the way. A quick question on steaks, I’m wondering if you’ve tried the sous vide method and then finished them off on the bbq?
    Looking forward to further TM 6 recipes from your kitchen!

    • @RichieTheFoodie
      @RichieTheFoodie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Kev, UK Hiya mate. Firstly, may I say, it’s comments like this and others that not only inspire me to create more content for TH-cam, but more TM6 content for TH-cam.
      A lot of TM6 content on here is made by consultants, so I guess that’s why mine seems a bit different. I’d happily flog this wonderful gadget, but haven’t got the spare time!
      The TM6 will change the way you cook, it’s such a piece of kit! I would not be without it. Be careful though pal, if you’re a keen cook, it can make you very lazy. Use it in the week, but always try and cook traditionally when you can to keep your skills up, but even when you do that, the TM6 can be your commis chef 👩‍🍳 it is that versatile.
      As for steaks, I have a Weber kettle bbq with a lid, so if I’m using the bbq for a steak, I’ll cook it all on the bbq for the benefit of smoking it. There’s nothing stopping you from sous vide cooking your steak and finishing it on the grill though, just pre heat it to RED hot, smear your steak with a little oil, and sear it for a minute per side.
      I’d really like to hear about your journey with the TM6, so do keep in touch! And of course, any more questions, I’m more than happy to help 😀
      Lots more TM6 content planned, so I hope you’ve hit the subscribe button 😆. Thanks again for the comment 👍🏻 RTF

      @@RichieTheFoodie Thanks for the quick reply! Tbh some of the consultant content is somewhat ott😄 Obviously they’re aiming at their core market of busy mums, which is fine, but I think they probably do the TM6 an injustice for the more experienced cook and what it can do for them. After all it’s quite an outlay, I have a couple of friends who are also keen cooks, but I think I already know what their reaction will be when I tell them what I’ve bought……”not another gadget Kev! Why do want one of those?!” 😄
      I’ll let you know how I get on, it certainly looks like a different style of cooking. When I bought it the offer was a half price “friend” so I’ve gone in at the deep end😂 I’ve just retired, so hopefully I’m looking forward to a long lasting relationship with TM6 (especially as my other half has never cooked!) I’m already clearing my worktop in anticipation! I’m half hoping it might even inspire her to have a go at cooking the odd thing….but why change the habit of a lifetime🤣🤣

    • @RichieTheFoodie
      @RichieTheFoodie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Kev, UK no problem at all, it’s the least I can do when someone interacts with my channel 😀
      Your mates will say you’re crazy spending that amount of money! Mine certainly did lol. I don’t have the thermomix friend at the moment. As for the wife, mine would confess she’s not a great cook, but if I’m running late at work, she’ll happily cook a tm6 dinner, and it turns out exactly the same as if I’d have cooked it! She loves it.
      Ah, I hope you enjoyed your retirement. You’ll have lots of time make all of the pastries, pasta dough etc. Again, please keep me posted, Kev. I’ll look forward to it. All the best, RTF

      That’s a very good point. Sous vide gives your steak a different texture, it’s much better in my opinion. If you’ve had steak in a good restaurant, you’ve probably had it sous vide.

    • @RichieTheFoodie
      @RichieTheFoodie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Aminar Mansour in my opinion, it is absolutely worth it. It all depends on what you want from the appliance. It certainly opens you up to different types of cuisine.
      If you like to cook traditionally, it then becomes a very reliable sous chef. Thanks for stopping by and supporting the channel 🙋🏻‍♂️😀RTF

    Someone is having a laugh here, fillet steaks in hour and a half, and then pan shear them, come on frying pan, sear them, pre-set oven 15 to 20 mins, done plus less the cost of a TM6, i could cook them with in 15 to 20 mins just in a frying pan, depending how you like to cook them, i.e., rare to well done.

    • @RichieTheFoodie
      @RichieTheFoodie  ปีที่แล้ว

      @Geoff Riley- I fully appreciate what you’re saying. The sous vide function is just one of the many functions on the TM6. You can buy a stand alone sous vide unit for a fraction of the cost. If you’ve eaten steak in a top restaurant, there’s a high chance that it’s been sous vide. Thanks very much for watching and stopping by to leave a comment 🙋🏻‍♂️😀RTF

    Your pan's not flat, hence the oil moving away from the center and your beef sticking. You moved it a bit too soon.
