- Today I change the reduction box and transmission oil on my 1967 VW bus. This process isn't too difficult and is pretty straight forward, especially with a repair manual. Just make sure to use the right oil, check it every 6000 miles, and fill the reduction boxes before the transmission!
Oil I used: Sta-Lube 85W90 GL-4 Hypoid Gear Oil
link to oil: www.amazon.com...
Wrench for taking off fill / drain plugs: Craftsman 19mm Hex Key
Pipe for leverage: Pipe I found in the yard
Thanks for watching!!!

The AC being loud and can't hear the haters had me rolling!! 😂😂
Thanks
Awsome video! great to see your Still running all things pretty standard and not slammed otherwise getting under the thing would be a difficult job. Air con rocks lol!!! Forget the haters. Lol.
Just carry on doing the videos. Perhaps one about the things you do and don't do just to keep this sort of age vehicle going 🤙😎
Thanks! Yup, would definitely need a lift or something with a lowered bus haha. That's a great idea for a future video!
Doing the same thing in my 67 Sundial camper this weekend (plus reduction box gaskets and wheel seals). Beautiful bus you have there, man. ✌
Thanks! Good luck with it!✌
What speed does your 67 sundial like to cruise at ? 1600 in mine and stock trans likes to go 45 mph !! Will do 50 or more, but it's not happy. I too have a 67 sundial (non pop top, walk through, white)...thinking of a beetle trans or regearing it. Need to change generator that failed last fall and redo the front steering !
I can tell you that
the church bus I was
driven in back in the 70s
to attend Sunday school
service as a child by a
relative was a Vw Church bus
never did I knew that they had
to do the gear oil that way , then
again I never own a Vw bus , but
I wish I had ownership of one now
they are Super Cool ,
especially the Vanagon Syncro 4x4.
LOVE IT! Thanks man. My dad and I have a 23 window 63 microbus in red we are finishing. from Canada. w. love this video was helpful and keep on doing it!
Thanks! Glad the video helps!
Glad that solved it. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Same, glad it wasn't anything too difficult to fix. I really need to check that oil level more often haha.
Well done. Great video!
Thanks for watching!
Great video as always. The paint on the bus is amazing.
Thanks!!!
Great video
Thanks for watching!
That’s Lovely! Cheers! 🥂❤️✨
Nice video! I’m assuming that you drain the gear box from the two plugs but then you fill it up from the one full hole? Thanks
For my transmission yes, but I'd check just to make sure yours is the same
Great video. What do you torque the lug nuts at? 80-90ft. lbs?
I believe it is 90 ft-lb but I would go with the Bentley manual specs.
G'day,
Q. Would you be able to let me know what wheel and tyre sizes you have.
✌️ Peace
They are General Grabber AT2 205/75/R15
Great video! Can you tell me what size those Grabbers are? Tnx and grtzz from Holland!
Thanks for watching! They are size 205/75R15
Great! Tnx! Keep up the good work!
