I really enjoy being a photographer but something I noticed about you, is that you're great at small talk and making your clients comfortable. That's something I'd love to learn more about. It's not just about taking pictures but it's also about the experience, making others feel comfortable, especially during their most memorable moments.
This content is worth MILLIONS to people who are just starting with weddings. Thank you so so much!
You quite literally saved me hundreds of dollars, time and hassle trying to find a wedding photographer to mentor me for a day. I don't know how to thank you for all your content. I recently started my photography business back up after having to put it on hold for about a year. I thought I could never be confident enough to do another wedding and do it well. I feel absolutely ready and just all around excited for the next one. You are an angel for sharing all of this. Sending love from Arizona.
You and your squad definitely deserve a 👏🏾 for the manner in which you navigate the family and friends dynamic at this wedding, especially among the bridesmaids. Really nice video, Katelyn.
Thanks Katelyn, great video.🎉🎉🎉
Hi I'm a wedding photographer in Connecticut and I was wondering where you can get the backdrop you use for your detail laydown shots? Your video is so wonderful and it really captures the process! Love It! Thanks so much for sharing. Della Bella Photography
That was awesome to watch. You are so patient, I could never do what you do…I get so exhausted dealing with people😂 I’m retired and do wildlife photography as a hobby, but I still enjoy watching what you do!
Can't wait for part 2. This was so helpful!!!
Such great content, thanks for all your hard work! Looking forward to more videos!
The passion aggression between the bridesmaid and you was entertaining to say the least haha
KB had lots of fake laughs lol, I love it!!!
😆love it too indeed@@aracelimartinez9375
This video is such a treat, SO much great content! Thank you for sharing 🙏❤️
More full length BTS please! :D
Love it! Thank you so much!!
I'm more into family photography , but I watch because you are such a great teacher and I love your engagement with your viewers. I try to find parts of your tutorials that can be used with family photog.
Wow I loved this, thank you, you are awesome Kaitlyn x
Can’t wait for part 2!
glad to see your work process!!! Gretting from Mexico
this is priceless content! thank you
What a precious bride!!!
Thank you so much for sharing this 🙏
Thank you for sharing Katelyn!
Hey Katelyn I litteraly setup my R6 Mk II auto focus settings and buttons by test shooting this video with all the movement. Thanks for all you do
thank you thank you thank you!!!!
Love it! When should we expect part 2!?!?
Katelyn, I am so impressed you tried to move up the first look etc and how relaxed the day is. I have seen you do this before when it was going to rain as well. I cannot do this even when I'd like to - it never works due to hair and makeup, limo timing etc.
Thank you so much!!
When will part 2 of this come out. Loved this kinda video, learned so much
what a great video
Great to watch! How did you manage f2 with the group shots? Also what focus points did you use? Thanks so much!
What is the bag(s) you and Michael use to carry everything.. we need a updated “what’s in my bag” 😂
pretty sure I saw this on all access...but diving in anyhow!
Yep. I said the same thing :( wish it was a different one 😢
great video thank you indeed , but i have one question please ! what kind of the video camera you used ? thanks again
Thank you!!
Also very curious if you know the videographer. Would love to watch their wedding video film! 😅
Very nice photos and thank you so much for sharing. One question, how do you set up your ISO when shooting the wedding? Do you have it on Auto ISO?
I was wondering this too??
Great content! I noticed an interesting dynamic in the filmmaking group - no dedicated director in the scene, and you took the lead in posing and they just recorded in a moment and no request from the subject. It's a unique approach, and I found it intriguing, especially considering the potential conflicts between photo and video groups. I like to know if the video group also were from your team or if others were independent, and how you face this challenge if they were separated groups.
On another note, I'm curious about the pricing aspect. It's always fascinating to guess how much you should charge, considering the stress and high standards involved in meeting the customer's expectations. Would love to hear more about your thoughts on pricing strategies in such situations!
While i loved all the shots of the bride in the room, but i thought that sitting on the golden sofa and the arc would have been nice.
Hey! Where is your styling mat from?
I wish on your videos and tutorials that when you show your settings for shots, that when you use the 28-70 lens that you would include the focal length. That would help me understand how you got your shot
Hi katelyn! Great video. I have a few follow up questions i hope you can answer.
1- detail shots-flat lays, i noticed you place a white sheet/white dress cover?, right beside your set up. Was this intentional to add brightness to the shot?
2- your flat lay white roll up fabric. Can we get the link 😊
Hey, Katelyn, how does this paper thing called that you use for the detail shots? Would love to use something similar for the next wedding 🤗
Btw, thank you for this video!
I have the same question😅
I would love to meet you someday. I am over in Powhatan not far from the state park.
@KJ In the first full bridal party shot on the steps 1:27:20....settings say 2.0, 125 ISO and 1/320. How did you get everyone in focus at 2.0 given the layers of people?? I have the 28-70 f/2 and if not on exactly the same plane, im talking with in inches, people are out of focus other than my focus point. Are your listed setting correctly listed for this shot?
f8 i guest or 11. cmwiw
Hi katelyn! Where is that flat lay board from?
What kind of camera do you shoot with?
What is the name of the videographer company please? They were incredibly patient and seemed lovely 😊
❤
What’s the video TH-cam page of the videographer? To see end results ??
So it looks like your using almost 100% natural light... Is that correct?
Where can you get the detailed mat you use?
what preset do u use?
Are you in auto ISO?
Thank you. .. but can you do this one more time? frfr
Katelyn - when they were talking about steaming a perfect dress - it's so much fluffing and touching the gown. Is this the first wedding in the family? By daughter/sister #3, they would be like "dress is fine, who cares?" ;) Also, does your sister always assist you? And I was stressing that bouquet too. 99% of the time when they talk about steaming a dress later, they never actually do it, which is fine by me. Lastly, I was sweating that dad sees her part - I tell people it's either a first look or it's not - we can't be prepared for random things that happen throughout the day from a distance!
You removed that tall girl from brides side to the corner and never gave her opportunity to take close photo with bride again, her mood changed instantly she looked confused. I know you did not even notice but always pay attention, how would you feel if you removed from somewhere just because you tall, small etc. Also your second shooter can set up his shutter speed to auto and put min speed to 1/200 making sure wont go below that not blurry photos and auto iso will make easier for him then that crazy setting he had.
Still so torn on the First Look. It is great to have the extra photo time with bride, groom, and whole bridal party pre-ceremony. But there was something about knowing a bridal couple had *just* been married, if you were looking at any wedding photos of them actually together. You knew you were witnessing the first moments of their new life together, and the couple knew this, too, years later when they were.looking at these shots. It just seems a little fake to take the bride, groom, wedding party shots before the ceremony. I know this was debated over and over when First Looks first started, and I'm probably on the losing end of this discussion lol. Its now becoming so prevalent many couples won't remember what was great about the pics happening after the ceremony, when the bride and groom had truly just married each other. But, as a photographer esp, I do understand the advantage of doing it pre-ceremony. Something real is lost though.
a tip for everyone - never grip the lens from above...it's very hard to get out of the habit...
Thanks for watching!
You have so great ideas but don’t you taking over the show a little bit too much? It’s like it is a just a photo model shoot
Not to be snooty or anything, but she made it clear at the beginning, this is not just an average wedding. There’s a possibility that this wedding is going to be published in something somewhere. So this is an extremely high dollar wedding. They want her to treat it like it’s a photo shoot for a model I felt like from what she explained.
I'm only on the dressing section right now - but this is standard when you book a KJ style photog. Or me. Or any of us from 2010ish (when we all started) who have a more clean, aesthetic, traditional style. We all have tons of BTS - so you know how it is going to work when you book! There are photogs who are purely candid, there are photogs who are a mix, there are photogs who use flash all day. Most of us are in the middle.
