This happens when people dont understand what they see. So generic stereotypes become 'believable' despite no evidence proving it and the vocal people trying to change the perception against the mainstream media that the people already trust as 'factual' - which often than not only spins it for their own agenda. Hell honestly the only way most have a fursuit is working hard in society to earn the amount of cash.. They can go to almost 1500-1700 USD. People believe the media blindly and assume its true & it makes the worst first impression ever because of the misunderstanding.

As a furry in the military, I agree with what she says at the end of the video. For me it's always been about escapism, from both military life and normal life. I've always been a pretty introverted person, awkward and often afraid to interact with people, and being a furry is something I've always kept to myself, ESPECIALLY in the military (I can only imagine how the stigma that follows us would play out there). I was pretty surprised to see that she acknowledged that in the video. Thanks for being so open-minded about it! Great video!

It’s just because the media at first started to focus on the small percentage of people where it’s a giant fetish, then that got lots of popularity so whenever it was shown on media they thought ‘hey, let’s show the people who have it as a kink!’ And then people started to think that’s what *all* furries were... A good analogy I think is vampires: imagine if there was a vampire fandom, and it was just about appreciating vampires and dressing up as them, etc. Some people have a vampire fetish so *naturally* some people like that would join that community. That’s basically the furry fandom.
The main reason why I joined the furry fandom was because of my life in school, I had no friends, I had nowhere to fit in, and I was bullied every day, when I found the furry fandom I was at the peak of depression and started feeling suicidal thoughts intruding in my mind, and this fandom helped me find my calling in art, I've made friends and found people in school who were also in the fandom, to this day I'm two and a half years of being in the fandom starting near the beginning of seventh grade. I'm a freshman in highschool and getting the best credits out of anyone in my art class, me and my friends also have a lot of fun together

I have to say, after watching the full piece on channel 4 i have alot of respect for C4 after watching. They did their job well with due diligence and an open mind, and with more and more people accepting furries, even if its a slow process, i think that alot of the people who are justifiably afraid of telling people that they are a furry, will eventually be free of any stigma and hatred attached people feel towards us. I tell everyone and anyone what i do, even if i dont have a suit yet, because in the end they can say what ever they want, my fursona keeps me strong and gives me the courage to get on with my life and be a better person. I work in a big warehouse where you might not expect me to be able to be who i am, but i spend most of my time as my fursona's personality and a couple of times a year i go to work dressed as my fursona for fun (as best as i can without a fursuit), they have almost completely accepted me for who i am, and actually most people call me by my fursona not my real name. I think we are getting to a point where furries are actually being accepted in general culture and this makes me very happy to see, and things like this video are part of that reason. So thank you channel 4, i owe you a debt of gratitude for helping to make a world where i can be who i want to be.
Chris D They sounded weird to me too, the guy in the dragon suit, I think was a maker or something, and the rest were in suits and had to speak over fur, foam, and heat, and the makers were likely given directions. We also have to admit, sometimes furries are a tad awkward in front of a camera and I can imagine some were trying to put on their best face and it just came out a little weird.
It's a fair thing because they're probably afraid... A lot of furries don't accept interviews because they're afraid of being shown in a negative light so they keep their responses shorts and to the point... Or they spend way too long thinking about what they should say.
Dressing as a furry is another form of cosplay and it's awesome to be part of a huge community that is accepting. I cosplay and crosplay but also love the furries. Keep rocking 👍❤

As a furry in the military, I agree with what she says at the end of the video. For me it's always been about escapism, from both military life and normal life. I've always been a pretty introverted person, awkward and often afraid to interact with people, and being a furry is something I've always kept to myself, ESPECIALLY in the military (I can only imagine how the stigma that follows us would play out there). I was pretty surprised to see that she acknowledged that in the video. Thanks for being so open-minded about it! Great video!

The main reason why I joined the furry fandom was because of my life in school, I had no friends, I had nowhere to fit in, and I was bullied every day, when I found the furry fandom I was at the peak of depression and started feeling suicidal thoughts intruding in my mind, and this fandom helped me find my calling in art, I've made friends and found people in school who were also in the fandom, to this day I'm two and a half years of being in the fandom starting near the beginning of seventh grade. I'm a freshman in highschool and getting the best credits out of anyone in my art class, me and my friends also have a lot of fun together

I have to say, after watching the full piece on channel 4 i have alot of respect for C4 after watching. They did their job well with due diligence and an open mind, and with more and more people accepting furries, even if its a slow process, i think that alot of the people who are justifiably afraid of telling people that they are a furry, will eventually be free of any stigma and hatred attached people feel towards us.
I tell everyone and anyone what i do, even if i dont have a suit yet, because in the end they can say what ever they want, my fursona keeps me strong and gives me the courage to get on with my life and be a better person.
I work in a big warehouse where you might not expect me to be able to be who i am, but i spend most of my time as my fursona's personality and a couple of times a year i go to work dressed as my fursona for fun (as best as i can without a fursuit), they have almost completely accepted me for who i am, and actually most people call me by my fursona not my real name.
I think we are getting to a point where furries are actually being accepted in general culture and this makes me very happy to see, and things like this video are part of that reason. So thank you channel 4, i owe you a debt of gratitude for helping to make a world where i can be who i want to be.

They sounded weird to me too, the guy in the dragon suit, I think was a maker or something, and the rest were in suits and had to speak over fur, foam, and heat, and the makers were likely given directions. We also have to admit, sometimes furries are a tad awkward in front of a camera and I can imagine some were trying to put on their best face and it just came out a little weird.
It's a fair thing because they're probably afraid...
A lot of furries don't accept interviews because they're afraid of being shown in a negative light so they keep their responses shorts and to the point... Or they spend way too long thinking about what they should say.

The eyes are also inset so they seem like they follow you.
It's like looking through a screen door. You see out of the pupils and irises.
I've had a dream of wearing a fursuit at a dance competition. I couldn't see shit, it's like cutting two quarter-sized holes on a piece of paper and holding it 4 inches from your face. Of course I'm not saying that's how it is but it was a great dream anyways, I got really emotional in it :D
