Made-in-India Rail safety system is here; Modi Minister oversees Kavach successful tests

On the occasion of World Safety Day, Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw conducted a live testing of Kavach, an indigenously developed, automatic protection technology for trains. Kavach is developed by the Indian Railways and it lived up to its name and passed a key anti-collision test with flying colours on Friday. Built with the goal of zero accidents, Kavach was live tested at Secunderabad, with Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw at the helm along with the driver of the train and other officials who were present for the trial. Announced in the 2022 union Budget as a part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, 2,000 km of rail network is planned to be brought under the indigenously built Kavach for safety and capacity augmentation in 2022-23. So far, Kavach has been deployed on over 1098 route km and 65 locos in on-going projects of South Central Railway and has been approved for speeds up to 160 kmph. Watch this video for more.
