And now you have 700k people going around lying about being certified thinking this video is all they need to operate a forklift safely, when forklift-related accidents are already one of the absolute most common causes of death and serious injury in industrial and warehouse-type jobs.
Seriously, this guy has his heart in the right place. He's trying to help people out so they can get jobs. But the reality is that the certification process is there for a reason. Just knowing the controls is not enough to operate a forklift safely, and even if you can fool people into believeing that you're certified when you're not (which any experience forklift operator would be able to spot in an instant just from seeing you drive), you're basically just counting down the days until you make a mistake and kill somebody or yourself because you don't really know what you're doing.

I agree but one of the most important things about forklifts that he left out is the stability triangle. Basically, after you pick something up and are clear to put your forks down, put them down as low as possible. Otherwise you run the risk of tipping over which can lead to death if you don't know what to do when a fork lift tips over.

You'd have to be driving pretty reckless to tip over. I've honestly never felt like I was about to tip over before while operating a forklift.

    0:07 no seat belt
0:34 seatbelt is to stop you from getting crushed in the event of a tip over, not just because "some jobs will fire you"
0:46 forklifts do not steer like a car at all. They are rear wheeled turning, giving you a much tighter turn radius, and causing the back end to swing out
2:54 always look in the direction of travel and check blind spots
5:56 the fourth lever is not only for clamps, it's also for slip lifts, and on some forklifts the fourth lever will widen and narrow your forks
All things considered, it's a decent introduction to forklifts, but I would not use this as training material.

I’m a supervisor at my job so I hardly ever use a forklift but sometimes when everybody is gone, I need to move a forklift and it’s super easy. I don’t even need to do much with the forks other than raise them off the ground so I can move the forklift. Half the battle will be acting like you know wth you’re doing. My first time I just sat on the forklift and just figured it out.
I sat down saw a key in the ignition so I turned it on. Messed with the fork handles to right and thought okay, these aren’t making me move. I saw an emergency brake to the left of the steering wheel so I disengaged the brake. It didn’t move when I hit the gas so I kept looking around. Next step was just putting the thing in drive and I was ready to go. The lever for putting a forklift into drive, park or reverse, is to the left of the steering wheel too, in the same spot as a blinker/high beam lever is in a car.
TL;DR Step 1: Find key that should be in the ignition and turn the engine on.
      Step 2: disengage emergency brake.
      Step: put forklift into drive.
Treat it like a car. Keep your foot on the brake through all these steps until you’re ready to go. Remember forklifts steer from their back wheels and have a really good turning radius. Good luck out there people

Knowing that I can't go past a certain point, I would simply tell them sorry I'm just here to deliver @ your location. It's a liability issue, if you have any questions you can call the office. Forklift drivers play a VITAL role in making said world go 'round!!

    3: put on seatbelt
4: make sure your on neutral with brake on
    5: start forklift
6: go forward and backwards, make sure lights work and reverse beep works.
7: unbrake and lift forks an inch or so and go

Thank you so much sir. I am an 85 year old woman and always dreamed of driving a forklift, I do in fact have no limbs. But that does not matter. I love forklifts, they are my life and help me with my depression, I draw forklifts when I am sad, I have a forklift set as my wallpaper on every device I have, including my television. My husband, Eugene, gets very mad when I ask him for a forklift, he almost filed for divorce last Tuesday due to me cheating on him with a forklift. He told me he will get me a therapist. But I threw a big tantrum because my therapist is the giant forklift portrait in my living room. My family abandoned me because I would refuse to attend family gatherings to watch and Google forklifts all day. I can name every forklift brand possible. My husband has gotten me a "real" therapist before. But somehow, my therapist quit her job to go to therapy after I told her about my addiction to forklifts. Society runs away from me. Whenever I am in public I can not resist the urge to walk up to someone and talk about my interest of forklifts, they choose to run away but that does not bother me. I have forklift photos everywhere around my house and I talk to them about forklifts. I do not need help, I am happy with forklifts. I have daydreamed about driving a forklift since I was 4. You have changed my life. I can now drive a forklift by myself and everyone will be soooooooooo proud of me. Thank you so much.
